Download or read book Code de la voirie routi re et textes annexes written by Jacques Borredon and published by Editions du Papyrus. This book was released on 2006 with total page 643 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Du site de l'éditeur: The study explores public health and education provision in Niamey, the capital of Niger, by merging the ethnographic study of public services with an anthropological analysis of the state and of local politics. Based on anthropological fieldwork carried out in a group of neighbourhoods in the periphery of Niamey, the study highlights the political dimensions of public service provision in a local arena where international development interventions and national plans meet local realities and where a wide range of actors and institutions, discourses, meanings, and practices are mobilized in the offering of and the regulation of access to public services. It focuses on the political, economic, and socio-cultural aspects of public service provision, too often hidden behind contemporary buzzwords of development such as community participation and decentralization that dominate global debates about education and healthcare in developing countries. The study brings forth the strategies of urban residents in dealing with daily challenges in the consolidation of service provision and in education and health-seeking trajectories. It shows that access to a satisfactory treatment of illness or a successful school career is premised on the ability to navigate on the medical and education markets, which are made up of a plurality of providers and of official and unofficial costs and transactions. Further, these public services engage different actors such as community committees, traditional chiefs, local associations, the municipality and elected municipal councillors, emergent leaders, NGOs, and international development aid. The study demonstrates that despite the uncertainty of state support in health and education provision and a widespread dissatisfaction with these public services, the image of the state as service provider is reproduced on a day by day basis through local efforts at securing public services.

Part 2 deals with methods and tools for urban planning and local development, utilized to design and assess sustainable food systems. Download or read book Human Leptospirosis written by W. J. Terpstra and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2003-07-03 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leptospirosis is a potentially serious but treatable zoonotic disease representing a worldwide public health hazard. Its symptoms may mimic those of a number of other unrelated infections such as influenza meningitis hepatitis dengue or viral haemorrhagic fevers. It is important to distinguish leptospirosis from these diseases. For this reason new diagnostic methods have been developed in recent years. In humid tropical and subtropical areas where most developing countries are located leptospirosis poses a greater health problem than in areas with a temperate climate. Because leptospirosis is easily overlooked and consequently underreported in many parts of the world it is necessary to increase awareness and knowledge of the disease as a public health threat. The aim of these guidelines is to assist in this process. The target groups to which these guidelines are directed consist of health workers clinicians laboratory technicians microbiologists public health workers veterinarians and biologists with an interest in zoonoses having no specialized knowledge of leptospirosis but who wish to be generally informed about the microorganism concerned and the disease that it may cause. This is not a handbook and avoids technical details but the interested reader can find further information in the annexes and the general bibliography. These guidelines are concerned essentially with human leptospirosis.

Book Handbook of Research on Future of Work and Education Implications for Curriculum Delivery and Work Design

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Future of Work and Education Implications for Curriculum Delivery and Work Design written by Ramlall, Sunil and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2021-10-08 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Higher education has changed significantly over time. In particular, traditional face-to-face degrees are being revamped in a bid to ensure they stay relevant in the 21st century and are now offered online. The transition for many universities to online learning has been painful—only exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing many in-person students to join their virtual peers and professors to learn new technologies and techniques to educate. Moreover, work has also changed with little doubt as to the impact of digital communication, remote work, and societal change on the nature of work itself. There are arguments to be made for organizations to become more agile, flexible, entrepreneurial, and creative. As such, work and education are both traversing a path of immense changes, adapting to global trends and consumer preferences. The Handbook of Research on Future of Work and Education: Implications for Curriculum Delivery and Work Design is a comprehensive reference book that analyzes the realities of higher education today, strategies that ensure the success of academic institutions, and factors that lead to student success. In particular, the book addresses essentials of online learning, strategies to ensure the success of online degrees and courses, effective course development practices, key support mechanisms for students, and ensuring student success in online degree programs. Furthermore, the book addresses the future of work, preferences of employees, and how work can be re-designed to create further employee satisfaction, engagement, and increase productivity. In particular, the book covers insights that ensure that remote employees feel valued, included, and are being provided relevant support to thrive in their roles. Covering topics such as course development, motivating online learners, and virtual environments, this text is essential for academicians, faculty, researchers, and students globally.

Book Syria Borders Boundaries and the State

Download or read book Syria Borders Boundaries and the State written by Matthieu Cimino and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-06-13 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the history of Syria’s borders and boundaries, from their creation (1920) until the civil war (2011) and their contestation by the Islamic State or the Kurdish movement. The volume’s main objective is to reconsider the “artificial” character of the Syrian territory and to reveal the processes by which its borders were shaped and eventually internalized by the country’s main actors. Based on extensive archival research, the book first documents the creation and stabilization of Syrian borders before and during the mandates period (nineteenth century to 1946), studying Ottoman and French territorialization strategies but also emphasizing the key role of the borderlands in this process. In turn, it investigates the perceptual boundaries resulting from the conflict, and how they materialized in space. Lastly, it explores the geographical and political imaginaries of non-state actors (PYD, ISIS) that emerged from the war.
