Download or read book Coevolutionary Fuzzy Modeling written by Carlos Andrés Peña-Reyes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-10-18 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building on fuzzy logic and evolutionary computing, this book introduces fuzzy cooperative coevolution as a novel approach to systems design, conductive to explaining human decision process. Fuzzy cooperative coevolution is a methodology for constructing systems able to accurately predict the outcome of a decision-making process, while providing an understandable explanation of the underlying reasoning. The central contribution of this work is the use of an advanced evolutionary technique, cooperative coevolution, for dealing with the simultaneous design of connective and operational parameters. Cooperative coevolution overcomes several limitations exhibited by other standard evolutionary approaches. The applicability of fuzzy cooperative coevolution is validated by modeling the decision processes of three real-world problems, an iris data benchmark problem and two problems from breast cancer diagnosis.

This book was released on 2001-07-13 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, a great number of publications have explored the use of genetic algorithms as a tool for designing fuzzy systems. Genetic Fuzzy Systems explores and discusses this symbiosis of evolutionary computation and fuzzy logic. The book summarizes and analyzes the novel field of genetic fuzzy systems, paying special attention to genetic algorithms that adapt and learn the knowledge base of a fuzzy-rule-based system. It introduces the general concepts, foundations and design principles of genetic fuzzy systems and covers the topic of genetic tuning of fuzzy systems. It also introduces the three fundamental approaches to genetic learning processes in fuzzy systems: the Michigan, Pittsburgh and Iterative-learning methods. Finally, it explores hybrid genetic fuzzy systems such as genetic fuzzy clustering or genetic neuro-fuzzy systems and describes a number of applications from different areas.Genetic Fuzzy System represents a comprehensive treatise on the design of the fuzzy-rule-based systems using genetic algorithms, both from a theoretical and a practical perspective. It is a valuable compendium for scientists and engineers concerned with research and applications in the domain of fuzzy systems and genetic algorithms.

Book Granular Fuzzy and Soft Computing

Download or read book Granular Fuzzy and Soft Computing written by Tsau-Young Lin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-29 with total page 936 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of the Encyclopedia of Complexity and Systems Science (ECSS, 2009) presented a comprehensive overview of granular computing (GrC) broadly divided into several categories: Granular computing from rough set theory, Granular Computing in Database Theory, Granular Computing in Social Networks, Granular Computing and Fuzzy Set Theory, Grid/Cloud Computing, as well as general issues in granular computing. In 2011, the formal theory of GrC was established, providing an adequate infrastructure to support revolutionary new approaches to computer/data science, including the challenges presented by so-called big data. For this volume of ECSS, Second Edition, many entries have been updated to capture these new developments, together with new chapters on such topics as data clustering, outliers in data mining, qualitative fuzzy sets, and information flow analysis for security applications. Granulations can be seen as a natural and ancient methodology deeply rooted in the human mind. Many daily "things" are routinely granulated into sub "things": The topography of earth is granulated into hills, plateaus, etc., space and time are granulated into infinitesimal granules, and a circle is granulated into polygons of infinitesimal sides. Such granules led to the invention of calculus, topology and non-standard analysis. Formalization of general granulation was difficult but, as shown in this volume, great progress has been made in combing discrete and continuous mathematics under one roof for a broad range of applications in data science.

Book Accuracy Improvements in Linguistic Fuzzy Modeling

Download or read book Accuracy Improvements in Linguistic Fuzzy Modeling written by Jorge Casillas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuzzy modeling usually comes with two contradictory requirements: interpretability, which is the capability to express the real system behavior in a comprehensible way, and accuracy, which is the capability to faithfully represent the real system. In this framework, one of the most important areas is linguistic fuzzy modeling, where the legibility of the obtained model is the main objective. This task is usually developed by means of linguistic (Mamdani) fuzzy rule-based systems. An active research area is oriented towards the use of new techniques and structures to extend the classical, rigid linguistic fuzzy modeling with the main aim of increasing its precision degree. Traditionally, this accuracy improvement has been carried out without considering the corresponding interpretability loss. Currently, new trends have been proposed trying to preserve the linguistic fuzzy model description power during the optimization process. Written by leading experts in the field, this volume collects some representative researcher that pursue this approach.

This Conference is mainly focused on its industrial and environmental applications. After a through peer-review process, the SOCO 2015 International Program Committee selected 41 papers, written by authors from 15 different countries. These papers are published in present conference proceedings, achieving an acceptance rate of 40%. The selection of papers was extremely rigorous in order to maintain the high quality of the conference and we would like to thank the members of the International Program Committees for their hard work during the review process. This is a crucial issue for creation of a high standard conference and the SOCO conference would not exist without their help.

Book Evolutionary Computation in Data Mining

Download or read book Evolutionary Computation in Data Mining written by Ashish Ghosh and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-06-22 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data mining (DM) consists of extracting interesting knowledge from re- world, large & complex data sets; and is the core step of a broader process, called the knowledge discovery from databases (KDD) process. In addition to the DM step, which actually extracts knowledge from data, the KDD process includes several preprocessing (or data preparation) and post-processing (or knowledge refinement) steps. The goal of data preprocessing methods is to transform the data to facilitate the application of a (or several) given DM algorithm(s), whereas the goal of knowledge refinement methods is to validate and refine discovered knowledge. Ideally, discovered knowledge should be not only accurate, but also comprehensible and interesting to the user. The total process is highly computation intensive. The idea of automatically discovering knowledge from databases is a very attractive and challenging task, both for academia and for industry. Hence, there has been a growing interest in data mining in several AI-related areas, including evolutionary algorithms (EAs). The main motivation for applying EAs to KDD tasks is that they are robust and adaptive search methods, which perform a global search in the space of candidate solutions (for instance, rules or another form of knowledge representation).
