The research reviewed achievement scores from the state-required end-of-course (EOC) testing and universal screener. In addition, the number of office disciplinary referrals and special education referrals were examined in relation to the implementation of interventions. While there was no significant difference between the groups on the value-added scores, there remained a significant difference between the control group and the four intervention groups. The number of behavioral incidents has declined over the last 4 years; however, the number of special education referrals has increased.

Book Are We Closing Gaps Or Creating Gaps in Learning

Download or read book Are We Closing Gaps Or Creating Gaps in Learning written by Nina H. Bowie and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In secondary education, teachers must execute a nationally mandated initiative that requires instruction delivery outside of their expertise. Fuchs, Fuchs, & Compton (2010) suggest that many researchers have avoided researching middle and high schools regarding RTI because of scheduling and compliance concerns. On the secondary level, RTI's accountability goal is for teachers to use research-based interventions to close the existing gap (Fuchs et al., 2010). This study’s goal was to examine the implementation framework at the secondary level and to uncover disparities in teacher attitudes and practices. There were minor correlations between student performance and teacher characteristics such as instructional styles, years of experience, and teacher perceptions. It is suggested that more research into other educational characteristics be conducted.
