Book Circular Dichroism Sensing of Chiral Compounds with a Meso Salen Cobalt Complex

Download or read book Circular Dichroism Sensing of Chiral Compounds with a Meso Salen Cobalt Complex written by Burcin Irfanoglu and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coordination of a chiral substrate to (meso-salen)cobalt(II) nitrate and subsequent oxidation generates a Co(III) complex exhibiting a strong chiroptical readout that is attributed to spontaneous substrate-to-ligand chirality imprinting. The characteristic CD response of the (salen)cobalt complex can be used for enantiomeric analysis of a variety of chiral substrates based on a simple CD measurement at low concentration and without additional purification steps. This chirality sensing approach has potential for high-throughput ee screening applications and minimizes solvent waste production.

Book Chirality in Supramolecular Assemblies

Download or read book Chirality in Supramolecular Assemblies written by F. Richard Keene and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-01-03 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supramolecular chemistry deals with the organisation of molecules into defined assemblies using non-covalent interactions, including weaker and reversible interactions such as hydrogen bonds, and metal-ligand interactions. The aspect of stereochemistry within such chemical architectures, and in particular chirality, is of special interest as it impacts on considerations of molecular recognition, the development of functional materials, the vexed question of homochirality, nanoscale effects of interactions at interfaces, biocatalysis and enzymatic catalysis, and applications in organic synthesis. Chirality in Supramolecular Assemblies addresses many of these aspects, presenting a broad overview of this important and rapidly developing interdisciplinary field. Topics covered include: Origins of molecular and topological chirality Homochirogenesis Chirality in crystallinity Host-guest behavior Chiral influences in functional materials Chirality in network solids and coordination solids Aspects of chirality at interfaces Chirality in organic assemblies Chirality related to biocatalysis and enzymes in organic synthesis. This book is a valuable reference for researchers in the molecular sciences, materials science and biological science working with chiral supramolecular systems. It provides summaries and special insights by acknowledged international experts in the various fields.

Book Engineering of Crystalline Materials Properties

Download or read book Engineering of Crystalline Materials Properties written by Juan J. Novoa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-12-14 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume collects the state of the art in molecular materials. It collects the lecture notes of a series of lectures given by some of the best specialists in the field at the 2007 Erice International School of Crystallography, and also a NATO-ASI course. The school first established "where we are" in terms of modeling, design, synthesis and applications of crystalline solids with predefined properties and then defined current and possible futuristic lines of development.

Download or read book Chiral Separations written by D. Stevenson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume represents the proceedings of a two-day international meeting on chiral chromatography held at the University of Surrey between 3-4 September 1987. The meeting was jointly organized by the Chromatographic SOCiety and the Robens Institute of the University of Surrey in response to the burgeoning interest in this rapid maturing field of chromatography. Nowhere is this interest more evident than in the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries where the implications of different pharmacological and toxicological activity for the individual enantiomers present in a racemic drug ol" insecticide is an increasing area of concern. Developments in the area of chiral separations are at last beginning to provide SCientists with the necessary tools to study how animals and man handle racemates and relate their obseIVations to the obseIVed biological effects of these substances. The development of robust and Simple methods for the separation of enantiomers will therefore have a profound Impact on safety evaluation and drug design. The meeting proved to be very successful. with over 160 delegates from thirteen countries in Europe and America present to learn from the experiences of experts in the field of chiral chromatography and to hear about the latest developments. Hopefully. in future symposia on chiral separations at the University of Surrey.
