These families were known locally as the Stone Church Bells, Long Glade Bells, North Mountain Bells and the South River Bells. While a number of descendants stayed in Virginia, there were those who traveled to Tennessee where a large number of Bells settled in Knox and Davidson counties. A smaller number of Bells settled in Blount and Washington counties. Descendants traveled further west and settled in Texas, Kansas and other parts of the United States.
