Download or read book Nickel and Chromium Plating written by J. K. Dennis and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nickel and Chromium Plating, Second Edition, does not merely update the first edition but also places additional emphasis on certain methods that have achieved increased industrial use in the 14 years since the first edition was published. The book begins by tracing the history of nickel and chromium plating. This is followed by a discussion of the electrochemistry of electrodeposition from aqueous electrolyte solutions. Separate chapters cover topics such as autocatalytic (electroless) nickel deposition; nickel plating onto aluminum and other difficult substrates; plating onto plastics and high-speed plating; the deposition of various nickel alloys for decorative and functional applications; composite coatings; and tampon (brush) plating. This book will be helpful to those new to the plating industry; those experienced in the industry will find that this revised version enables them to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in this specialized technology.

Download or read book Chromium in the Natural and Human Environments written by Jerome O. Nriagu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1988-03-31 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides a comprehensive chemical and biochemical treatment on the effects of chromium in the environment and in man. Such an integrated treatment of the chemical and biochemical aspects of chromium is novel and has not appeared in the published literature. Reviews the information on global cycling and environmental occurrence of chromium compounds, which defines the extent of the environmental and toxicological concern. The treatment of chromium chemistry provides the basis for toxicological models of chromium hypersensitivity, mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, and toxicokinetics. Chapters contain graphical representations of the voluminous mutagenicity and animal carcinogenicity data according to chromium compound type, and a tabular summary of all published epidemiological data, broken down according to industry. Also covers clinical patterns, prognosis, pathogenesis, prophylaxis, and environmental and biological monitoring.

Download or read book Youth Movements Citizenship and the English Countryside written by Sian Edwards and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-28 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the significance and meaning of the countryside within mid-twentieth century youth movements. It examines the ways in which the Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, Woodcraft Folk and Young Farmers’ Club organisations employed the countryside as a space within which ‘good citizenship’ – in leisure, work, the home and the community – could be developed. Mid-century youth movements identified the ‘problem’ of modern youth as a predominantly urban and working class issue. They held that the countryside offered an effective antidote to these problems: being a ‘good citizen’ within this context necessitated a respectful and mutually beneficial relationship with the rural sphere. Avenues to good citizenship could be found through an enthusiasm for outdoor recreation, the stewardship of the countryside and work on the land. However, models of good citizenship were intrinsically gendered.
