Book Military Occupation under the Eyes of the Lord

Download or read book Military Occupation under the Eyes of the Lord written by Holger Berg and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2010-05-19 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Während u.a.

Book Law and Theology

Download or read book Law and Theology written by Uriel Tal and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discusses reactions in the German Protestant Church to the 1933 law restricting non-Aryans, i.e. Jews, in the professions, when official attempts were made to apply this law to the Churches. While the Bekennende Kirche raised doubts about the law, Protestant Churches in general favored not appointing non-Aryans or those married to such to positions in the clergy. Many Deutsche Christen supported Nazi racism also in this area. Lutherans tended to accept the authority of the state as absolute and, hence, not to oppose Nazi views and policy in regard to Jews. Opponents of racism included the miniscule Pfarrernotbund (the Pastors' Emergency Association), which stressed the spiritual and institutional independence of the Church and the precedence of religion over politics. Opposition began in 1934 among members of the Confessional Church, which objected to the inclusion of the Aryan Provision in Church law. Overall, though, concern about the Church's faithfulness to its principles in regard to Jews related almost exclusively to converts and their offspring.

Book Church Robbers and Reformers in Germany 1525 1547

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a study of the religious controversy that broke out with Martin Luther, from the vantage of church property. Book Beda Mayr Vertheidigung der katholischen Religion 1789

Download or read book Beda Mayr Vertheidigung der katholischen Religion 1789 written by Ulrich Lehner and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009-02-23 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The monastic erudition of the old religious orders was a pillar of the Catholic Enlightenment within the Holy Roman Empire and many other European countries. Despite the enormous importance the monks had as champions of programmatic Enlightenment ideas, few of their original texts are available in modern editions. The present edition contributes to filling this lacuna by making available the main work of the Benedictine monk, Beda Mayr (1742–1794), who developed a modern and ecumenical Catholic theology. Book Instructions for the Visitors and the Enchiridion

Download or read book Instructions for the Visitors and the Enchiridion written by Phillip Melanchthon and published by Newcomb Livraria Press. This book was released on 2023-05-09 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is Volume III in the Complete Works of Philipp Melanchthon. This new American English translation of Luther's 1528 "Unterricht der Visitatoren, an die Pfarrherrn im Kurfürstenthum zu Sachsen" or "Instructions for the Visitors of Parish Pastors in Electoral Saxony", followed by his 1522 Enchiridion. Together these make up his core works on the subject of education, earning him the title given by Luther: "Germany's teacher". The original German texts follow the English translation for easy reference and this edition contains a new 2023 Afterword by the Translator. Melanchthon’s 1522 Enchiridion sought to teach theology in the family home as a replacement for the state-run religious institutions. Named after Augustine's Enchiridion, which in turn was named after Epictetus' Enchiridion, Melanchthon sought to provide an ethical foundation for Protestantism, which was in disarray. The rampant Antinomianism which rejected all “legalism” and stated there is no moral code to which Christians should adhere to caused a related problem for the reformation. Knowledge of the Ten Commandments and the Old Testament was key to fixing this problem to Melanchthon, so together with Luther they published extensive educational reforms and school material. The Elector of Saxony saw this sorry state of affairs in Protestant Germany in terms of education, and asked Luther to fix it. Melanchthon took lead, and issued this 1527 Instructions for the Visitors of Parish Pastors in Electoral Saxony, and visited the local churches. A great deal of Melanchthon’s work was in the field of education, leading to his title of "Germany's teacher".
