Book The Mediator

    Book Details:
  • Author : Emil Brunner
  • Publisher : James Clarke & Co.
  • Release : 1934
  • ISBN : 9780718890490
  • Pages : 626 pages

Download or read book The Mediator written by Emil Brunner and published by James Clarke & Co.. This book was released on 1934 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christianity stands or falls by what is believed and thought about Jesus. Brunner's thorough and provocative analysis of the Biblical doctrine of the Person and the work of Christ, establishing Jesus Christ as the Mediator between God and man, not only made the central theme of Christianity live again, but established him as one of the great modern theologians. Why should there be an intermediary between God and mankind Brunner's answer is that what matters supremely is not whether man is 'aware' of, or has a 'feeling' for 'something divine', but whether there is only one 'place' at which God challenges man to decision. The God who is real and alive is the God who confronts man in such a way that man knows that he must act. And Jesus Christ, the Mediator, confronts man with the true and living God. The deity of Christ, the humanity of Christ, the God-Man, the Incarnation, and the Atonement are re-examined and rescued from misunderstanding. The result is a clear and provocative discussion concluding that only in Jesus Christ can we know ourselves as we really are; and only in Jesus Christ can God be known as he really is.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study seeks to give an account of the truth, scope, and validity of Calvin's Christological understanding of the law in the light of his concept of Christus mediator legis. It sets out the key points of the intellectual origins of Calvin's theology of the law, especially his study of law, Christ's mediation of the law in the Old and New Testaments, and the relationship between the duplex office and the triplex use of the law. A comparative study between Calvin and contemporary Reformers--Luther, Bucer, Melanchthon, and Bullinger--and Servetus is made in order to point up the unique feature of the coherence between Christology and soteriology in Calvin's theology of the law.

Book Agreement to Seek Reconciliation Through Christian Mediation

Download or read book Agreement to Seek Reconciliation Through Christian Mediation written by Robert Abarno and published by Richard Ragland Publishing. This book was released on 2006-11 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whosoever may come to be reconciled to God through Jesus the Savior, the Christ of the Living God. Salvation through Jesus (John 3: 16) enables Christians to access and utilize biblical reconciliation without resorting to the secular legal system. Biblical reconciliation is offered to all without regard to gender, race, color, ethnicity, education or constructs of human pride. This book is based upon Scripture. In I Corithians 6: 1-10 the Bible clearly states why and how Christians should 'agree to agree' without resorting to a legal system that is by its nature adversarial. Jesus is our Judge/Advocate. To seek reconciliation through Christian mediation in obedience to God is in fact a healing process. Biblical reconciliation builds up the individuals involved without the pain, suffering and long term emotional and sometimes physical damage of broken relationships. Reconciliation through Christian mediation can be successfully accomplished without resorting to courts. Read what St. Paul has written about 'agreeing to agree' as the biblical exhortation to obey God's will for our lives. "How is it that when you have something against another Christian you 'go to law' and ask a heathen court to decide the matter instead of taking it to other Christians to decide which of you is right? Why then go to outside judges who are not Christians? Isn't there anyone in all the church who is wise enough to decide these arguments? But, instead, one Christian sues another and accuses his Christian brother in front of unbelievers. To have such lawsuits is real defeat for you as Christians" (I Corinthians 6 TLB). Dr. Robert Abarno is founder of Christ Centered Development, a training and equippingministry. He is a Christian biblical counselor and a mentor to the Christian community. His Doctorate is in clinical psychology, with a Masters in medical psychology and a Bachelor of Science in psychology and sociology. His training includes an internship at a major medical university hospital under a Christian psychiatrist which included clinics and research. Dr. Abarno is a founding Director of Church Initiative, a church equipping ministry. He has authored four books.

Serious, divisive conflict is everywhere-within families, in the church, and out in the world. And it can seem impossible to overcome its negative force in our lives. In The Peacemaker, Ken Sande presents a comprehensive and practical theology for conflict resolution designed to bring about not only a cease-fire but also unity and harmony. Book Arbitration and Mediation in International Business

Download or read book Arbitration and Mediation in International Business written by Christian Bühring-Uhle and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Arbitration and mediation in international business was first published in 1996 and was one of the first comprehensive studies on the practice of international business dispute resolution, covering both international commercial arbitration and the so-called ?alternative? techniques such as mediation. The book also provided an empirical analysis of how both arbitration and mediation are conducted in a crossborder context, along with a normative guide to the relative costs and benefits of these two methods. This second edition is not just an updated version of the first edition but a new book in itself: Benefitting from the contributions of two co-authors, the work has been enhanced by discussions of innovative tools for making settlement negotiations more effective, and by the in-depth analysis of practical techniques to integrate mediation and arbitration in international business. Also, a comprehensive new empirical survey was conducted in order to capture new trends in this rapidly developing field. The result is a ?must have? resource for anyone having to deal with potential conflict in international business relationships."--Publisher's website.

Book Law and the Bible

  • Author : Robert F. Cochran
  • Publisher : InterVarsity Press
  • Release : 2013-09-01
  • ISBN : 0830825738
  • Pages : 272 pages

Download or read book Law and the Bible written by Robert F. Cochran and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 2013-09-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible is full of law. Yet too often, Christians either pick and choose verses out of context to bolster existing positions, or assume that any moral judgment the Bible expresses should become the law of the land. Law and the Bible asks: What inspired light does the Bible shed on Christians’ participation in contemporary legal systems? It concludes that more often than not the Bible overturns our faulty assumptions and skewed commitments rather than bolsters them. In the process, God gives us greater insight into what all of life, including law, should be. Each chapter is cowritten by a legal professional and a theologian, and focuses on a key aspect of the biblical witness concerning civil or positive law--that is, law that human societies create to order their communities, implementing and enforcing it through civil government. A foundational text for legal professionals, law and prelaw students, and all who want to think in a faithfully Christian way about law and their relationship to it.

Book Mediation and Immediacy

Download or read book Mediation and Immediacy written by Jenny Ponzo and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2020-12-07 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Religion, like any other domain of culture, is mediated through symbolic forms and communicative behaviors, which allow the coordination of group conduct in ritual and the representation of the divine or of tradition as an intersubjective reality. While many traditions hold out the promise of immediate access to the divine, or to some transcendent dimension of experience, such promises depend for their realization as well on the possibility of mediation, which is necessarily conducted through channels of communication and exchange, such as prayers or sacrifices. An understanding of such modes of semiosis is therefore necessary even and especially when mediation is denied by a tradition in the name of the 'ineffability" of the deity or of mystical experience. This volume models and promotes an interdisciplinary dialogue and cross-cultural perspective on these issues by asking prominent semioticians, historians of religion and of art, linguists, sociologists of religion, and philosophers of law to reflect from a semiotic perspective on the topic of mediation and immediacy in religious traditions.

Book Radical Depravity

  • Pages : 134 pages

Download or read book Radical Depravity written by John Owen and published by Felipe chavarro. This book was released on 2020-10-09 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus Christ saves radically depraved men, women, and children from their sins. However, to understand, believe, and love the good news about the crucified and resurrected Savior, we must first understand our condition. Thus, we offer this issue of the Free Grace Broadcaster: Radical Depravity. Arthur Pink introduces us to this weighty subject by asking the question, “Is man a totally and thoroughly depraved creature by nature?” Thomas Reade then tells us about the deadly consequences and bitter fruits of Adam’s fall: in Adam all die. We then consider Joel Beeke’s helpful survey of the doctrine of human depravity. A second article by Thomas Reade leads us to a painful truth: the heart of man is evil. But he does not leave us there: he takes us to the blessed Son of God for deliverance. John Owen describes with great clarity the depraved and corrupted state of man’s mind and teaches us that the only remedy for this great darkness is the new birth: “You must be born again.” Loraine Boettner explains the extent and effects of original sin, which results in human inability in the matters of salvation. What is our true spiritual condition outside of Christ? Charles Spurgeon declares that we are legally, spiritually, and eternally dead. Nevertheless, he also tells us that we can be legally, spiritually, eternally alive by faith in Jesus Christ the Son! We then hear from John Flavel that in mercy, grace, and love, God draws sinners to Jesus Christ, gradually, suitably, powerfully, effectually, and finally. That is indeed good news! J. C. Ryle brings our subject to a close by asking a penetrating question: “Are you dead or alive?” Each of us, dear readers, must answer that question.
