Book Lectures on Choquet s Theorem

Download or read book Lectures on Choquet s Theorem written by Robert R. Phelps and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A well written, readable and easily accessible introduction to "Choquet theory", which treats the representation of elements of a compact convex set as integral averages over extreme points of the set. The interest in this material arises both from its appealing geometrical nature as well as its extraordinarily wide range of application to areas ranging from approximation theory to ergodic theory. Many of these applications are treated in this book. This second edition is an expanded and updated version of what has become a classic basic reference in the subject.

Book Lectures on Choquet s Theorem

Download or read book Lectures on Choquet s Theorem written by Robert Ralph Phelps and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Appearing for the first time in book form are the main results centered about Choquet's integral representation theorem-an important recent chapter in functional analysis. This theorem has applications to analysis, probability, potential theory, and functional analysis; it will doubtless have further applications as it becomes better known. This readable book presupposes a knowledge of integration theory and elementary functional analysis, including the Krein-Milman theorem and the Riesz representation theorem. --Back cover.

Book Integral Representation Theory

Download or read book Integral Representation Theory written by Jaroslav Lukeš and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2010 with total page 732 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents the state of the art of convexity, with an emphasis to integral representation. The exposition is focused on Choquet's theory of function spaces with a link to compact convex sets. An important feature of the book is an interplay between various mathematical subjects, such as functional analysis, measure theory, descriptive set theory, Banach spaces theory and potential theory. A substantial part of the material is of fairly recent origin and many results appear in the book form for the first time. The text is self-contained and covers a wide range of applications. From the contents: Geometry of convex sets Choquet theory of function spaces Affine functions on compact convex sets Perfect classes of functions and representation of affine functions Simplicial function spaces Choquet's theory of function cones Topologies on boundaries Several results on function spaces and compact convex sets Continuous and measurable selectors Construction of function spaces Function spaces in potential theory and Dirichlet problem Applications

Download or read book Measure and Integral written by Konrad Jacobs and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-07-10 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Probability and Mathematical Statistics: Measure and Integral provides information pertinent to the general mathematical notions and notations. This book discusses how the machinery of ?-extension works and how ?-content is derived from ?-measure. Organized into 16 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the classical Hahn–Banach theorem and introduces the Banach limits in the form of a major exercise. This text then presents the Daniell extension theory for positive ?-measures. Other chapters consider the transform of ?-contents and ?-measures by measurable mappings and kernels. This text is also devoted to a thorough study of the vector lattice of signed contents. This book discusses as well an abstract regularity theory and applied to the standard cases of compact, locally compact, and Polish spaces. The final chapter deals with the rudiments of the Krein–Milman theorem, along with some of their applications. This book is a valuable resource for graduate students.

Book excerpt: Principles of Analysis: Measure, Integration, Functional Analysis, and Applications prepares readers for advanced courses in analysis, probability, harmonic analysis, and applied mathematics at the doctoral level. The book also helps them prepare for qualifying exams in real analysis. It is designed so that the reader or instructor may select topics suitable to their needs. The author presents the text in a clear and straightforward manner for the readers’ benefit. At the same time, the text is a thorough and rigorous examination of the essentials of measure, integration and functional analysis. The book includes a wide variety of detailed topics and serves as a valuable reference and as an efficient and streamlined examination of advanced real analysis. The text is divided into four distinct sections: Part I develops the general theory of Lebesgue integration; Part II is organized as a course in functional analysis; Part III discusses various advanced topics, building on material covered in the previous parts; Part IV includes two appendices with proofs of the change of the variable theorem and a joint continuity theorem. Additionally, the theory of metric spaces and of general topological spaces are covered in detail in a preliminary chapter . Features: Contains direct and concise proofs with attention to detail Features a substantial variety of interesting and nontrivial examples Includes nearly 700 exercises ranging from routine to challenging with hints for the more difficult exercises Provides an eclectic set of special topics and applications About the Author: Hugo D. Junghenn is a professor of mathematics at The George Washington University. He has published numerous journal articles and is the author of several books, including Option Valuation: A First Course in Financial Mathematics and A Course in Real Analysis. Book TOPICS IN MEASURE THEORY AND REAL ANALYSIS

Download or read book TOPICS IN MEASURE THEORY AND REAL ANALYSIS written by Alexander Kharazishvili and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-11-01 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights various topics on measure theory and vividly demonstrates that the different questions of this theory are closely connected with the central measure extension problem. Several important aspects of the measure extension problem are considered separately: set-theoretical, topological and algebraic. Also, various combinations (e.g., algebraic-topological) of these aspects are discussed by stressing their specific features. Several new methods are presented for solving the above mentioned problem in concrete situations. In particular, the following new results are obtained: the measure extension problem is completely solved for invariant or quasi-invariant measures on solvable uncountable groups; non-separable extensions of invariant measures are constructed by using their ergodic components; absolutely non-measurable additive functionals are constructed for certain classes of measures; the structure of algebraic sums of measure zero sets is investigated. The material presented in this book is essentially self-contained and is oriented towards a wide audience of mathematicians (including postgraduate students). New results and facts given in the book are based on (or closely connected with) traditional topics of set theory, measure theory and general topology such as: infinite combinatorics, Martin's Axiom and the Continuum Hypothesis, Luzin and Sierpinski sets, universal measure zero sets, theorems on the existence of measurable selectors, regularity properties of Borel measures on metric spaces, and so on. Essential information on these topics is also included in the text (primarily, in the form of Appendixes or Exercises), which enables potential readers to understand the proofs and follow the constructions in full details. This not only allows the book to be used as a monograph but also as a course of lectures for students whose interests lie in set theory, real analysis, measure theory and general topology.
