Download or read book True North written by Gary Heim and published by Kregel Publications. This book was released on 2011-09-20 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every day we face some kind of frustration: flat tires, flooded basements, wounding words, a broken body, a troubled marriage—trouble comes in all shapes and sizes and can happen when we least expect it. While everyone struggles, few people have learned to struggle well. But it’s not impossible! Frustrations arise when we look to people and things of this world to fill our desires, rather than to the only One who can really satisfy us. True North offers a unique, biblical paradigm that gives understanding and help to turn to God in the frustrations of life. Frustration often causes us to “go south” and react in the flesh. We grumble and grasp. God calls us to “go north” and respond to hardship with wisdom and redemptive love. Combining biblical insight with personal stories, practical help, and compelling examples, authors Gary and Lisa Heim encourage readers to turn from self-centered grumbling and grasping to Christ-centered gratitude and giving. As they read stories of hardships and trials, successes and profits, readers will see how frustrations can actually help them grow in their personal lives, in their marriages, in their parenting, and in their ministries. Believing that learning to live for God through all of life’s frustration is an intentional activity for every day, the Heims also provide discussion questions at the end of each chapter to help readers apply biblical truths to situations where frustrations loom. Perfect for use in ministry settings or as a handbook for personal growth, Truth North shows readers how to embark on the life-giving adventure of walking with God.

Few would argue that the current system of dating isn’t in desperate need of reform. Dr. Raunikar goes even further with his radical, biblical solution to the perils and pitfalls of dating. Thanks, Dr. Raunikar, for being a radical.” Derek Webb Singer/songwriter “I’m so glad to see a book addressing what I’ve called the ‘dating mess.’ Choosing God’s Best is straightforward and scriptural. I especially appreciated the explanation of the categories of dating, which are seldom understood.” Elisabeth Elliot Author and speaker “I wish this book had been around when I was dating. So much pain, so many missed opportunities, and so many mistakes could have been avoided if I had used these principles.” Steve Arterburn Founder and chairman, New Life Ministries Story Behind the Book Dr. Don Raunikar was a professional therapist specializing in singles’ issues. Book Salvation Is from the Jews

Download or read book Salvation Is from the Jews written by Roy H. Schoeman and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2019-04-15 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book traces the role of Judaism and the Jewish people in God's plan for the salvation of mankind, from Abraham through the Second Coming, as revealed by the Catholic faith and by a thoughtful examination of history. It will give Christians a deeper understanding of Judaism, both as a religion in itself and as a central component of Christian salvation. To Jews it reveals the incomprehensible importance, nobility and glory that Judaism most truly has. It examines the unique and central role Judaism plays in the destiny of the world. It documents that throughout history attacks on Jews and Judaism have been rooted not in Christianity, but in the most anti-Christian of forces. Areas addressed include: the Messianic prophecies in Jewish scripture; the anti-Christian roots of Nazi anti-Semitism; the links between Nazism and Arab anti-Semitism; the theological insights of major Jewish converts; and the role of the Jews in the Second Coming. "Perplexed by controversies new and old about the destiny of the Jewish people? Read this book by a Jew who became a Catholic for a well-written, provocative, ground-breaking account. Some of the answers most have never heard before." Ronda Chervin, Ph.D., Hebrew-Catholic

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly 200,000 copies sold! Chosen by God by Dr. R. C. Sproul is a contemporary classic on predestination, a doctrine that isn’t just for Calvinists. It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn’t create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God, but rather paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans. We choose God because he has opened our eyes to see his beauty; we love him because he first loved us. There is mystery in God’s ways, but not contradiction.

Book America s Destiny Choosing God s Will or Ours A Historical Latter day Saint Perspective

Download or read book America s Destiny Choosing God s Will or Ours A Historical Latter day Saint Perspective written by Tad R. Callister and published by Cedar Fort Publishing & Media. This book was released on 2023-07-10 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: America's Destiny sets forth compelling evidence of America's divine origin and destiny-that it was a nation founded upon divine providence, not coincidence, as testified repeatedly by the Founding Fathers, respected historians, and statesmen. This revised edition also adds numerous scriptures and statements from prophets of God attesting to this truth. With that perspective, America's Destiny asks the question that should be on all of our minds, "What is the greatest challenge facing our nation today and how should we confront it in a way that pleases God?" The economy, national security, immigration, gun control, poverty, racism, crime, national pandemics, climate change? While each of these is a valid concern and deserves attention, none of them strikes at the heart of our greatest challenge, namely, finding a way to build stronger homes and bring about a return to family, God, and moral values. To put our prime focus on challenges other than these is to strike at the leaves, not the root of the problem. It is now our choice and America's choice - to place our trust in the wisdom of God or the wisdom of the world - to be a nation under God or without God. If we become a nation under God, then we become eligible to receive the promise: "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." (Psalm 33:12)

Book Reflections of God s Work

Download or read book Reflections of God s Work written by Paul McLean and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-08-23 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work by Paul McLean is a deep weekly devotional that is both introspective and interactive. It is a weekly study as opposed to a daily reading in order to involve the reader on a more contemplative journey into focused biblical issues. By use of a weekly instead of a daily study, this devotional allows an opportunity to go deeper with God by narrowing the reader’s focus on particular biblical principles that impact his or her personal sphere. McLean vigorously maintains that Bible study, deep personal analysis, and prayer are critical anchors in weathering any of life’s storms while at the same time producing Christian growth and maturity. They are also the pillars from which growth, life balance, and fulfillment are achieved. This book is interactive through the use of journaling thoughts, impressions, and messages received through connecting with God’s word (Bible) during the week. Essentially, the reader evaluates his or her life by answering, in journalistic form, pointed and personal life questions. McLean believes that prayer and contemplative study play critical roles in the process of hearing from God. This devotional can also be used as a study guide for group sharing and personal growth. Each chapter touches on insights and personal experiences McLean has encountered in his work as a probation officer and from his involvement in prison ministry. He discovered that by witnessing the transforming power of Jesus Christ in the lives of criminal offenders, he was changed and shaped by God for a higher purpose.

Book Hope Beyond Bars

Download or read book Hope Beyond Bars written by Jedidiah Duaya and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2018-06-23 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being behind bars doesnt make you, as an inmate, less of a human being. Therefore, do not identify yourself with your temporary situation. But since you are behind bars, you need to take responsibility. And while taking responsibility, you need to forgive yourself and forgive those who might have done you wrong. And once you forgive, then you need to live life in jail, in prison, or under house arrest by following rules and demonstrating good behavior to help make your sentence easier and maybe shorter. And until you get free, do not waste your time in a cell doing nothing of value; instead, put your potential, abilities, and gifts to use. And lastly, mentally prepare yourself to live life beyond bars by applying every single lesson learned from the cell. The church and society need to address the issue of ex-inmates reentry as partners and complement each other in facing this issue. The society and the church need to understand that just because these individuals are behind bars, that doesnt make them any less human than everybody else. They have a right to live, a right to be forgiven, and a right to be accepted back into society. These individuals are called inmates while serving time, but once they have paitd their dues and are set free, that name changes to ex-inmates and should eventually switch to citizens. Where society falls short, the church needs to pick up the slack and serve these citizens. And where the church falls short, society needs to step in and help these citizens. We cannot afford to let these ex-inmates live in a life cycle where they go in and out of jail, prison, and house arrest. We have to prove the statistics wrong. Society can provide programs to help these citizens reintegrate much more smoothly. The church can finally become what it was intended to be and provide a safe environment in which these restored citizens will live a life worthy of being called citizens and not return to old behavior and a life back behind bars.
