Download or read book Chlorobenzenes Other Than Hexachlorobenzene written by Heath Malcolm and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2004 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise international chemical assessment document (CICAD) on chlorobenzenes other than hexachlorobenzene (environmental aspects) is an update of Environmental Health Criteria (EHC) 128. Information on the fate and levels of chlorobenzenes was also obtained from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry reports on chlorobenzene and 1,4-dichlorobenzene. This CICAD concentrates on environmental aspects because there have been no significant changes to the human health assessment since publication of the EHC.--Publisher's description.

Book NIOH and NIOSH Basis for an Occupational Health Standard

Download or read book NIOH and NIOSH Basis for an Occupational Health Standard written by Björn Hellman and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chlorobenzene is one of twelve possible chemical species in the group of chlorinated benzenes (36). At room temperature, the substance is a colorless volatile liquid with an odor that has been described as "not unpleasant" (63), like that of "mothballs or benzene" (25) and "almond like" (1,32). The compound has been used extensively in industry for several years and its main use is as a solvent and intermediate in the production of other chemicals (19, 25, 32). In occupational settings, the main exposure is from inhalation of the volatile compound. The present document summarizes and evaluates information that has been considered most relevant for the assessment of the potential adverse health effects from occupational exposure to chlorobenzene.

Download or read book Emergency Response Guidebook written by U.S. Department of Transportation and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-06-03 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does the identification number 60 indicate a toxic substance or a flammable solid, in the molten state at an elevated temperature? Does the identification number 1035 indicate ethane or butane? What is the difference between natural gas transmission pipelines and natural gas distribution pipelines? If you came upon an overturned truck on the highway that was leaking, would you be able to identify if it was hazardous and know what steps to take? Questions like these and more are answered in the Emergency Response Guidebook. Learn how to identify symbols for and vehicles carrying toxic, flammable, explosive, radioactive, or otherwise harmful substances and how to respond once an incident involving those substances has been identified. Always be prepared in situations that are unfamiliar and dangerous and know how to rectify them. Keeping this guide around at all times will ensure that, if you were to come upon a transportation situation involving hazardous substances or dangerous goods, you will be able to help keep others and yourself out of danger. With color-coded pages for quick and easy reference, this is the official manual used by first responders in the United States and Canada for transportation incidents involving dangerous goods or hazardous materials.

Book Chlorobenzenes Other Than Hexachlorobenzene

Download or read book Chlorobenzenes Other Than Hexachlorobenzene written by M. E. Meek and published by Environmental Health Criteria. This book was released on 1991 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evaluates the risks to human health and the environment posed by exposure to monochlorobenzene, dichlorobenzenes, trichlorobenzenes, tetrachlorobenzenes, and pentachlorobenzene. These chemicals are produced in huge quantities for use as intermediates in the synthesis of pesticides and in the production of a wide range of consumer and commercial products. A review of data on sources of environmental exposure notes that release to the environment occurs primarily during manufacture and that incineration of chlorobenzenes may lead to the emission of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans. Sections concerned with sources and levels of human exposure conclude that the general population is exposed to the lower chlorinated congeners mainly through inhalation, whereas a greater proportion of the total daily intake of the higher chlorinated compounds is ingested in food; breast-fed babies may receive a higher dose than adults. Particular concern centres on risks of human exposure arising from the ingestion of contaminated fish and from contaminated indoor air linked to use of these compounds as moth repellents and air fresheners.
