Hier giebt der Charakter, nicht das Talent den Ausschlag, welcher Weg eingeschlagen wirdj die Wahl ist furchtbar ernst, denn sie entscheidet meistens fiir das ganze Leben. Entweder sagt er der Wissenschaft Lebewohl und steuert direct ins Lager der medicinischen Handwerker, wobei unterwegs nicht selten in dunkler Stunde ein krummer Schleicbweg benutzt und eine siisse Frucht vom Baume der Reclame gepfiuckt wird, oder er arbeitet fort, urn sich den Namen eines wissenschaftlichen Praktikers zu verdienen. Allein vor der Hand konnte man nach dem anstrengenden Examens­ jahre sich doch wenigstens eine Zeit lang Ruhe gonnenj die Uni­ versitatskenntnisse .werden ja fiir die ersten Jahre wohl ausreichen.
