Book China s Belt And Road Initiative And Rmb Internationalization

Download or read book China s Belt And Road Initiative And Rmb Internationalization written by Gang Meng and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-10-30 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chinese economy has long been emphasizing globalization. Many factors including domestic currency policies, exchange policies and cross-border capital flow are becoming increasingly complex. Therefore, China is steadily pushing forward RMB internationalization to meet the market requirements emerging from global cooperation that has resulted from the Belt and Road Initiative. In the perspective of currency development, the internationalization of RMB is a general trend and a historical choice. As an important measure of China to fully open up and integrate with international community, the Belt and Road Initiative intends to effectively connect relevant countries, from different areas such as policies, roads, trade, capital and popular support. The financial cooperation based on domestic currencies is an important aspect of the Belt and Road Initiative, and an important means to meet the financial needs of various countries. Financing of Belt and Road Initiative-related projects is clearly helpful for China in adopting more active policies in capital account convertibility and RMB internationalization and to accelerate the process of RMB internationalization.

Book China s Belt and Road A Game Changer

Download or read book China s Belt and Road A Game Changer written by Alessia Amighini (a cura di) and published by Edizioni Epoké. This book was released on 2017-07-11 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Officially announced by Xi Jinping in 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has since become the centrepiece of China’s economic diplomacy. It is a commitment to ease bottlenecks to Eurasian trade by improving and building networks of connectivity across Central and Western Asia, where the BRI aims to act as a bond for the projects of regional cooperation and integration already in progress in Southern Asia. But it also reaches out to the Middle East as well as East and North Africa, a truly strategic area where the Belt joins the Road. Europe, the end-point of the New Silk Roads, both by land and by sea, is the ultimate geographic destination and political partner in the BRI. This report provides an in-depth analysis of the BRI, its logic, rationale and implications for international economic and political relations.

Book How China s Silk Road Initiative is Changing the Global Economic Landscape

Download or read book How China s Silk Road Initiative is Changing the Global Economic Landscape written by Yuan Li and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-08-28 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China’s New Silk Road initiative constitutes one of the most ambitious projects in recent decades designed to change the pattern of the global economic division of labour as well as the geostrategic balance of power. It has the potential to create a new fabric of industrial value creation that links China and East Asia via Central and South Asia with Europe, and to forge new regional and multilateral institutions that complement or compete with existing regional and global governance systems. First proposed in 2013, the new initiative is only now starting to be rolled-out, with trade relations gradually intensifying, and the first investment projects and infrastructure clusters becoming manifest. However, the full impact of the evolving new regional value chains on global goods flows, investment activity, supra-national institution building, as well as their wider international implications, remains undetermined. This book brings together leading scholars from economics, political science and area studies, who present the latest cutting-edge knowledge and the latest state-of-the-art economic and political analysis on how the new initiative is developing and likely to develop.

Book Exchange Rate Credit Constraints and China s International Trade

Download or read book Exchange Rate Credit Constraints and China s International Trade written by Miaojie Yu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-05 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, by one of China's leading economists, explores the past and present of the RMB—the people's currency—as it is poised to compete with the dollar as the international reserve currency. Exchange rate movement and its pass-through to changes in domestic prices have been topics of wide concern among economists. However, relatively few studies have empirically investigated the relationship between exchange rate movements and China's international trade. This book fills this gap, using the general equilibrium theory of the western economic science norm systems, integrating the leading heterogeneous firm theory of international trade, attempting to set up a theoretical structural model for further prediction, and applying the data from sample cases to examine the structural model. This book will be of interest to economists, financiers, and China watchers.

Book Belt And Road Initiative Chinese Version Of Marshall Plan

Download or read book Belt And Road Initiative Chinese Version Of Marshall Plan written by Feng Da-hsuan and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-03-15 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book views the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a bold and all-encompassing 21st century global effort by China, with unprecedented perspectives. The BRI could be summarised as a 'revitalization' of China's ancient land-based and maritime silk roads, but it should be noted that its impact on China and the world stands on the foundation of omnipresent economics and how China transforms its mindset in the 21st century.Though initiated by China, the BRI's implementation has been a many-to-many effort from the start. This multi-regional and multi-national effort is distinctly different from the one-to-many effort of the Marshall Plan. The two meaning-defining chapters of this book, 'Omnipresent Economics: The Belt and Road Initiative Underpinning' and 'Supercontinent, Neo-Renaissance and Cultural Communications: The Millennium Mindset Transformations Induced by the Belt and Road Initiative', have made it abundantly clear that the BRI discussions presented are unique. The discussions of this book could shed new light on the BRI, a long-term and profound initiative by China, which in today's global discussions and debates, are entirely confined to geopolitical and economics arenas.

Book Chinese Perspectives on the Belt and Road Initiative

Download or read book Chinese Perspectives on the Belt and Road Initiative written by Joel Wuthnow and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of Chinese president Xi Jinping's signature foreign policy programs is the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a web of infrastructure development plans designed to increase Eurasian economic integration. Chinese official rhetoric on the BRI focuses on its economic promise and progress, often in altruistic terms: all countries have been invited to board this "express train" to wealth and prosperity. Missing from the rhetoric is much discussion of the initiative's security dimensions and implications. Chinese officials avoid describing the strategic benefits they think the BRI could produce, while also gliding over major security risks and concerns. Yet at the unofficial level, China's security community has paid close attention to these issues, probing in great depth the gains Beijing can expect, the challenges it will face, and the new demands it will have to satisfy. Understanding those Chinese assessments is helpful as the United States considers how, when, and in what capacity to engage the BRI.

Book excerpt: The IISS Strategic Dossier China’s Belt and Road Initiative provides a geopolitical and geo-economic assessment of President Xi Jinping’s flagship foreign-policy initiative. The dossier explores the Belt and Road Initiative’s role in China’s domestic industrial strategy and in the country’s growing influence around the world. It studies how Beijing’s ambitions, management and financing of the initiative have evolved since its launch in 2013. In addition, the volume reflects on the future of China’s initiative following the COVID-19 pandemic. The dossier is organised around a region by region assessment of what Beijing has sought to achieve in different countries and how the Belt and Road Initiative has played out over time. The volume examines recipient countries’ responses to the Belt and Road Initiative and how these have affected it. It also looks at responses from other global and regional powers to China’s economic activities around the world and offers thoughts on ways the West might better contend with Beijing’s geo-economic influence.

Book excerpt: This book analyzes the origins and the impacts of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on diplomacy, economy (trade, investment, finance), and security among selected host countries and regions in Asia, Africa, and the European Union. By examining the geopolitical economy of BRI activities, it concisely describes the impact of the rise of China and its BRI policy strategy on the reshaping of world order and global governance. This volume explores the BRI by addressing several key questions including: • Why did the Chinese leadership set up the BRI? • What are the activities of BRI projects in the participating countries and related regions? • What are the challenges to the successful implementation of the BRI in the various countries and regions? Moreover, through its analysis of the abovementioned questions, it provides novel contributions to the ongoing scholarly debates between Chinese and non-Chinese scholars – among others, the debate surrounding the “rise of China” and its impact on global governance. Featuring an extensive variety of expert contributors, this study will be an essential reading for students and scholars of International Relations and Global Political Economy as well as Chinese politics and those with an interest in the Belt and Road Initiative more broadly.

Book Green Finance Sustainable Development and the Belt and Road Initiative

Download or read book Green Finance Sustainable Development and the Belt and Road Initiative written by Fanny M. Cheung and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-12-22 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) promote sustainable development, alongside its primary aims of increasing commercial connectivity with China’s partners? In discussions of the BRI the focus has tended to be on the implications for infrastructure construction, connectivity, and economic diplomacy. Rather less attention has been paid to its potential impact on sustainability. The initiative has not only set principles to prevent climate change and promote sustainable development, but also pledged to align with the UN’s environmental objectives. The contributors to this volume describe and evaluate the consequent policy coordination in the areas of green finance, green energy, and sustainable development in the Belt and Road regions. They examine both the challenges and opportunities of these projects, and the role that Hong Kong can play in supporting their assessment, finance, and implementation. With contributions from authors based in mainland China, Hong Kong, Australia, Qatar, the UK, and the US – with experience in corporate social responsibility, international finance, environmental policy, and international relations – this book presents a thorough and rigorous analysis of the green side of the BRI. A valuable resource for scholars of the BRI and its many implications for China, its partners, and the development of sustainable infrastructure.
