Their lives are not consumed with achieving fame and fortune, instead, they continually strive to be "decent human beings." Many of today's residents of the Heartland are descendents of these children and are the current "Children of the Heartland." By fate, circumstance, or personal choice our "place" has become his heartland. All people in the book are real. it is the author's hope that the book gives some insight to readers dwelling outside the Heartland to the life and spirit of its residents.
