Take the journey to Cherish, and youll come to love the Lord, the place, and the people as much as Andy and Abbey do. Smile, cry, and be inspired as the young Garretts embrace and are embraced by the little First Baptist Church. Follow, too, their loving attempts to redeem the past. Download or read book His Timeless Touch written by Debby L. Johnston and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2018-10-24 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Peter drives the bus, and Judas pays for the gas. We follow close behind in our cars to wherever Jesus stops. Like twelve sermon illustrations, the juxtaposition from New Testament times to our modern day puts us at the feet of Jesus. His Timeless Touch captures Jesus’s touch on twelve individual lives. Each story draws on biblical accounts with tenderness and insight. Here are examples: Wonder as Jesus texts reporters hounding a seductress and her partner. Share a blind man’s dreams come true. Commiserate with a height-challenged man who takes revenge. Get a mother-in-law’s opinion. Cry with the mother of a sex-trafficked girl whose demons are cast out. Follow a cyber thief to repentance and a promise of paradise. No character who is touched by Jesus remains unchanged. Every encounter proclaims him to be the Son of God and leads to worship—even today!

Download or read book Specimens of Bushmen Folklore written by Wilhelm Heinrich Immanuel Bleek and published by Daimon. This book was released on 2001 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new edition of the long-out-of print classic collection of Bushman tales provides a fascinating look into the life of these little-known people. As Megan Biesele writes in her Foreword: The fact that a family of trained linguists and their associates sat down between 1870 and 1884 with a group of /Xam people who had been temporarily sprung free of imprisonment in Cape Town's Breakwater Prison has immense potential consequences. San people today, like indigenous peoples all over the world, are quietly organizing educational futures for themselves which will make fine use of this record of the intellectual history of their culture. This edition reproduces the English text of the 1911 edition and is richly illustrated with photographs.

Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Download or read book The Young Maiden written by A. B. Muzzey and published by 谷月社. This book was released on 2016-01-07 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Capacities of Woman. The appropriate sphere of woman—how ascertained. By considering her Intellectual, Moral, and Physical Constitution; by a view of the Scripture teachings on this point; by a reference to History, observation, and experience. The women of Babylon. Patriotism of Phœnician women. Grecians and Romans. Modern Pagan Women. Occupations and Habits of Christian females friendly to improvement. State of Society, especially in this country, favorable. Effect of Chivalry on woman. The division of Duties between the sexes, and their Mutual Influence demand separate spheres. Woman should not engage in severe Physical toil. Milton’s opinion. Nor in Political life. Plato’s theory. Nor in promiscuous public Discussions. Home one part of her sphere. Private Beneficence. The Statue of ivory better than that of brass. Society requires Woman’s presence. Lord Halifax’s a good view of Female capacities. Before entering on any statement of duties, it is incumbent on us to determine what power there is to perform them. An angel’s task may not be laid on a mere mortal. It is only where many talents have been given, that great returns can justly be required. Nor should our requisitions fall below the powers of those of whom they are made. We may not claim simply a child’s service, where the ability of a giant clearly exists. Achilles would spurn the light offices of Adonis. So will that woman, who regards her sex as co-equal in every part of their nature, with the opposite sex, contemn the delicate tasks, usually termed feminine. Much is said in our age and country of the appropriate sphere of woman. The discussion of that point is too interesting and too important to be passed over in this work, but the consideration of it involves another, viz., What are her Natural Capacities? How does she compare with, and wherein differ from man? This topic seems a fit introduction to what may follow in our survey of the wide field now open before us.
