Book excerpt: Step into the gripping world of "Chained Possession," the compelling sequel to "The Don's Gambit." Follow Zayn as he delves into Raven and Damon's complex crime case, weaving a narrative of love, betrayal, and unwavering pursuit of justice. Zayn, the relentless investigator, plunges into the depths of darkness to unravel the twisted saga of Lazarus Landucci-a notorious mafia boss, drug lord, and gun trafficker. The case takes a personal turn as Zayn discovers Lazarus's horrifying involvement in the human trafficking trade, a malevolent scheme that tore apart Zayn's life by selling off the love of his life, Lily, to the sinister Vladimir Potter. As Zayn digs deeper into the labyrinth of deceit spun by Lazarus, the narrative unfolds into a complex tale of love, betrayal, and retribution. Lazarus's ex-girlfriend, Raven, emerges as a central figure, haunted by the lingering shadows of her past. Despite finding solace in a new love, Damon Walliams, Raven can't escape the clutches of Lazarus. The war against the ruthless mafia boss rages on, long after Raven has departed in pursuit of a new life. In "Chained Possession," Zayn becomes entangled in a web of vendettas, where love and vendetta intermingle, and the fight for justice becomes personal. As the characters navigate the treacherous terrain of the criminal underworld, the lingering specter of Lazarus Landucci continues to cast its ominous shadows. Will Zayn unearth the truth and bring about retribution, or will the past continue to haunt those entwined in the dark legacy of Lazarus? Please note that this is not a standalone novel, and you need to read Book 1 of the Blood Vendetta series before you proceed to read this book.

Book Demonic Possession

Download or read book Demonic Possession written by C. Torrington and published by Arcturus Publishing. This book was released on 2016-01-15 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea of people possessed by evil spirits against their will is as old as the hills. Often there is thought to be a special way a person has become possessed. It might be the result of a curse cast on them by a sorcerer, or some unfortunate mishap such as stepping over a dead body. Or the demons can have been invited, in a Satanic ritual. More often, at least in recent Christian tradition, there is no initiating moment that can be identified - they just find their way in, like disease. From Pearl Curran, a housewife living in St Louis, Missouri, who soared to fame in the second decade of the 20th century as the amanuensis of 'Patience Worth', a writer who had died in the 17th century, to victims of Dissociative Personality Disorder (thought to have inspired Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde), this book examines demonic possession from every angle.

Book The Law of Possession

Download or read book The Law of Possession written by William S. Sax and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2015-11-24 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rituals combining healing with spirit possession and court-like proceedings are found around the world and throughout history. For example, a person suffers from an illness that cannot be cured, and in order to be healed he performs a ritual involving prosecution and defense, a judge and witnesses. Divine beings give evidence through human oracles, spirits possess their human victims and are exorcized, and local gods intervene to provide healing and justice. Such practices seem to be the very antithesis of modernity and many modern, secular states have systematically attempted to eliminate them. Why are such rituals largely absent from modern societies, and what happens to them when the state attempts to expunge them from their health and justice systems, or even to criminalize them? Despite the prevalence of rituals involving some or all of these elements, The Law of Possession represents the first attempt to compare and analyze them systematically. The volume brings together historical and contemporary case studies from East Asia, South Asia, and Africa, and argues that, despite consistent attempts by states to discourage, eliminate, and criminalize them, such rituals persist and even thrive because they meet widespread human needs.
