Book excerpt: Have you ever noticed that people rarely say that they are happy anymore? We may be “okay”, “alright”, or “hanging in there”...but seldom do you hear anyone say they are “happy” or “wonderful” or “having an outstanding day”. We have become a nation of make-do people with a just-getting-by mentality and have allowed the traumas and difficulties of our past to define who we are and how we live. We fervently hang on to the negative anger, frustrations, disappointments, setbacks, and unforgiveness as a sign that we are meant to live less-than lives. We have become so comfortable with the negativity, that it is impossible for God to elevate us from the pit of our mess to a position of power and authority. The problem with hanging on your past mess is that it keeps you bound in mediocrity and misery. The negativity easily becomes a cloak that you wear and makes it impossible to believe that you can ever be more or have more than the less-than life you have settled for. The mess, muck and mire of the past has eroded the ability to hope, dream and aspire to anything more than mere existence. Isn’t it time to move past existing and begin to truly live this glorious thing called life? If you know in the deepest core of your being that life has more to offer than what you have settled for, it’s time to take a bold stand to take back all that has been taken from you. It’s time for you to embrace all those awesome promises of God’s Word to live your best life now! It’s time to tap into the power and greatness within you to be all that you are called to be! “The Power Within” is a life changing guide that teaches you how to make the journey from hopelessness to hope-filled purpose. It provides God-directed guidance and strategic steps to release the trash bags of your past and embrace the glory of true living and destiny. If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired and WANT to get off the roller coast of mediocrity, the power for you to prosper and overcome is within you. Whether you are confused and lost about your purpose and need some direction on how to make it to your next level...or anger and unforgiveness has consumed you and you need help figuring out how to begin your journey of release.. or you are highly accomplished and don’t know why you still have that empty void...“The Power Within” will help you get on track to walking in your purpose. Don’t let the mess, muck, and mire of your past keep you stuck in neutral, living a less-than life. You were born for greatness...but only you can take that bold step to make it happen. “The Power Within” is your roadmap to become all that God has called you to be and live your happy, hope-filled, purposed destiny!

This book was released on 2015-01-29 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. These elemental forces affected human life positively or negatively and any human being who could share their energy was a person of great significance - a human agent of cosmic power. The present work is a reappraisal of Synoptic accounts of Jesus and his followers in the light of recent developments in the study of ancient magic.

Book Revolutionary Power

Download or read book Revolutionary Power written by Shalanda Baker and published by Island Press. This book was released on 2021-01-14 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In September 2017, Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, completely upending the energy grid of the small island. The nearly year-long power outage that followed vividly shows how the new climate reality intersects with race and access to energy. The island is home to brown and black US citizens who lack the political power of those living in the continental US. As the world continues to warm and storms like Maria become more commonplace, it is critical that we rethink our current energy system to enable reliable, locally produced, and locally controlled energy without replicating the current structures of power and control. In Revolutionary Power, Shalanda Baker arms those made most vulnerable by our current energy system with the tools they need to remake the system in the service of their humanity. She argues that people of color, poor people, and indigenous people must engage in the creation of the new energy system in order to upend the unequal power dynamics of the current system. Revolutionary Power is a playbook for the energy transformation complete with a step-by-step analysis of the key energy policy areas that are ripe for intervention. Baker tells the stories of those who have been left behind in our current system and those who are working to be architects of a more just system. She draws from her experience as an energy-justice advocate, a lawyer, and a queer woman of color to inspire activists working to build our new energy system. Climate change will force us to rethink the way we generate and distribute energy and regulate the system. But how much are we willing to change the system? This unique moment in history provides an unprecedented opening for a deeper transformation of the energy system, and thus, an opportunity to transform society. Revolutionary Power shows us how.

Book Generals and Scholars

    Book Details:
  • Author : Edward Shultz
  • Publisher : University of Hawaii Press
  • Release : 2000-06-01
  • ISBN : 9780824823245
  • Pages : 274 pages

Download or read book Generals and Scholars written by Edward Shultz and published by University of Hawaii Press. This book was released on 2000-06-01 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Generals and Scholars is the first work in English to examine fully military rule during the Koryo. Although it lasted for only a century, the period was one of dynamic change--a time of institutional development, social transformation, and the reassertion of the civil service examination and Confucian ideology coupled with the flowering of Son (Zen) Buddhism. (When confronted with fundamental matters of rule, however, Ch'oe leaders frequently opted for the status quo and in the end aligned with many traditional civil elites to preserve their power.) The traditional tension between civilians and the military was eased as both came to accept the primacy and necessity of civilian values. Koryo generals, unlike those in Japan, learned they could govern more readily by relying on civil leaders administering a strong central government than on a call to arms. Institutional innovations from this period survived well into the next and Son Buddhism continued to flourish throughout the country.

Primary among the catalysts of change in the region is the rise of China as the engine of regional economic growth, as a major military power, as a significant voice in regional diplomacy, and as a proactive power in multilateral institutions. With in-depth assessments by seventeen of the world’s leading experts on China’s foreign relations, this groundbreaking volume offers the most timely, up-to-date, and comprehensive analysis of China’s emerging influence on international relations in Asia. The contributors explore the various dimensions of China’s rise, its influence on the region, the consequences for the United States, and alternative models of the evolving Asian order. What emerges is a clear picture of China increasingly at the center of the regional web; while North Korean and Taiwan could erupt in conflict, the predominant trend in Asia is the creation of an extensive web of mutual interdependence among states and non-state actors. Providing the best overview we currently have of the changing political balance on the Asian continent, this accessible volume will be essential reading for anyone concerned with contemporary Asian affairs.
