Book CFD Analysis Of Stratified Scavenging In Two Stroke IC Engines

Download or read book CFD Analysis Of Stratified Scavenging In Two Stroke IC Engines written by Srinivasa Rao and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The civilization of any country depends on the number of vehicles used by the public. For heavy duties, diesel engines are preferred, while for individual transport, a light duty, two-stroke petrol engines are being employed. Two stroke engines have been around us for more than a century and have survived successfully because of their low power to weight ratio fewer parts and inexpensive, However, from the beginning, two stroke engines have suffered from high emissions and poor fuel economy compared to the larger, heavier but more efficient four stroke engines. The major pollutants emitted from these two-stroke engines are carbon monoxide and un-burnt hydro carbons. Hence globally, stringent regulations are made for permissible levels of pollutants in the exhaust of two and four stroke spark ignition engines. Hydrocarbon emissions in two stroke engines are mainly due to short-circuiting of the fresh charge during scavenging process is a major source of pollution from the two-stroke spark ignition engines. In two-stroke internal combustion (IC) engines, each outward stroke of the piston is a power stroke.combustion turbulence are modeled and studied using CFD.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book demonstrates applications and case studies performed by experts for professionals and students in the field of technology, engineering, materials, decision making management and other industries in which mathematical modelling plays a role. Each chapter discusses an example and these are ranging from well-known standards to novelty applications. Models are developed and analysed in details, authors carefully consider the procedure for constructing a mathematical replacement of phenomenon under consideration. For most of the cases this leads to the partial differential equations, for the solution of which numerical methods are necessary to use. The term Model is mainly understood as an ensemble of equations which describe the variables and interrelations of a physical system or process. Developments in computer technology and related software have provided numerous tools of increasing power for specialists in mathematical modelling. One finds a variety of these used to obtain the numerical results of the book.

Book Development of an Efficient 3 D CFD Software to Simulate and Visualize the Scavenging of a Two stroke Engine

Download or read book Development of an Efficient 3 D CFD Software to Simulate and Visualize the Scavenging of a Two stroke Engine written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The two-stroke engine is widely used in many different devices. But the environmentally problematic exhaust characteristic is a big drawback of this type of engine. In the scavenging process, when the fresh charge displaces the exhaust gas in the cylinder, lies the biggest opportunity to improve the exhaust data by geometry optimization. Therefore, we developed a software package to efficiently simulate the three-dimensional, time-dependent, Navier-Stokes equations within the complex, real-world geometry of the two-stroke engine with moving piston and rotating crankshaft. Due to the high temperature in the cylinder after combustion, a temperature dependent treatment of the material constants is necessary. Adaptive local time-stepping and dynamic local mesh adaption, as well as parallelization of the code, are used to speed up the computation time considerably. The software has been extensively validated and has been applied to the problem of short-circuiting in two-stroke engines.

Book Cfd Simulation of Internal Combustion Engines

Download or read book Cfd Simulation of Internal Combustion Engines written by Abhijeet Vaidya and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-07 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding highly complex nature of flow in an IC engine is essential to optimize its performance. However, the events like reciprocating motion of piston, motion of valves, turbulence generation, spray and mixing lead to a complex flow pattern. CFD is very useful in computing and understanding this complex flow pattern. In this book, all aspects of CFD technique to simulate the mixing of fuel with air in GDI engines are explained. The book covers the governing equations, numerical techniques for solving them, method of analysis of data (in the context of mixing processes) and programming techniques. The book will be useful for professionals who are performing CFD analysis using CFD softwares for thermal systems specifically reciprocating systems like engines, compressors and systems involving sprays, mixing etc. It is also useful for those who are developing CFD tools.

Book Advances in Internal Combustion Engine Research

Download or read book Advances in Internal Combustion Engine Research written by Dhananjay Kumar Srivastava and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-29 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses all aspects of advanced engine technologies, and describes the role of alternative fuels and solution-based modeling studies in meeting the increasingly higher standards of the automotive industry. By promoting research into more efficient and environment-friendly combustion technologies, it helps enable researchers to develop higher-power engines with lower fuel consumption, emissions, and noise levels. Over the course of 12 chapters, it covers research in areas such as homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion and control strategies, the use of alternative fuels and additives in combination with new combustion technology and novel approaches to recover the pumping loss in the spark ignition engine. The book will serve as a valuable resource for academic researchers and professional automotive engineers alike.
