This book was released on 2001-10-17 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From a relational and evolutionary perspective on the mystery of vocation, the authors develop the principles of discernment for Christian marriage, celibacy, and singlehood. They see the vocational core of marriage as a calling by God of each spouse to be a unique instrument of transformation and purification in the other's spiritual journey. They identify the vocational core of celibacy as the relationship between Jesus and the celibate rendering the celibate unmarriageable for the sake of Christ and the Gospel. They view the vocational core of singlehood as witness to a certain independence for the sake of the reign of God. In the light of each vocational core, the authors discuss specific signs which indicate and authentic calling. This book appeals to those seeking to discern their personal vocation as well as to those guiding them.

Download or read book Clerical Celibacy written by William E. Phipps and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2004-09-10 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The recent sex abuse scandals in the Catholic Church raised new questions about the abilities of a celibate priesthood to deal realistically with matters of sexuality. Critics and journalists who have examined these scandals have called for an end to mandatory celibacy for priests." "In this overview, Phipps points out that "mandatory celibacy is relatively new-fangled, having appeared during the last half of the church's existence. The innovation was imposed in the feudal and crusading era, a dark period for the Church."" "In order to provide this survey, Phipps probes ancient religious texts and church history and uses studies that provide factual assessments of the general individual and cultural consequences of celibacy. He avoids anecdotal evidence about celibacy and offers a balanced exploration by allowing celibate advocates and church representatives to speak in their own voices about these matters."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Download or read book Marriage Metanoia written by Jai Turner and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is for any individual who desires to do what aEURoethus says the LordaEUR regardless of who may not like or understand their conviction. If you desire to marry, or your marriage is going through hardships, this book gives scriptural foundation of Covenant Marriage and GodaEUR(tm)s divine design. Cultural norms are more widely accepted in these last days than ever before in the history of Christianity. God will direct our focus on something that He wants to bring salvation to: marriage is the topic that kept coming up for me. The church is resembling the world in the area of divorce at an alarming rate. God laid this subject heavily upon my heart as an entreaty to His people that, although it may be difficult, God desires to bring healing and restoration to kingdom marriage. He is promoting the message of a faith-based marriage for a lost and fallen world. Marriage has been compromised by a worldly connotation of what marriage is in GodaEUR(tm)s sight. He has called you to be set apart, and He will strengthen you to stand in faith. Read and study the biblical principles of marriage and truly seek God before, during, and after, for His will for your home. Many of the passages of scripture that I studied to gain the knowledge that I now have I unfortunately did not know prior to getting married. There is a plan of the enemy to destroy families, and he works however he can. Wherever he can find a crevice to sneak in, to destroy and bring about dissension, he actively looks and searches. He realizes that if he can separate the mother and the father, itaEUR(tm)s a lot easier to bring about the demise of the children. Christians have to be ever-vigilant against the trickery of the enemy and safeguard marriage along with the Holy Spirit to bring glory to the Lord, that others may see His restorative power, His healing nature, His love for His creations, and His power in bringing about His purpose and plans in our lives. Essentially, this is the information that I should have had before matrimony. May God guide you in all truth as you read this book. Be blessed.
