Book Causal Relationship Between Foreign Direct Investment and Growth

Download or read book Causal Relationship Between Foreign Direct Investment and Growth written by Vijayakumar Narayanamoorthy and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper we examine the causal relationship between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Growth of the BRICS countries. We employed Industrial Production Index (IPI) as a measure of Economic Growth. The stationarity of the data series are checked using Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) Test and tested for the existence of co-integration. Johansen Co-integration model found that the Brazil alone co-integrated among the selected countries at levels. The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) employed to trace the existence of long run relationship. The results of VECM found that Growth leads FDI bi-directionally for Brazil, Russia and South Africa and FDI leads Growth uni-directionally for India and China respectively.

Download or read book Causal Relationships Between Energy Consumption Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth written by Anis Omri and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper examines the interrelationships between energy consumption, foreign direct investment and economic growth using dynamic panel data models in simultaneous-equations for a global panel consisting of 65 countries. The time component of our dataset is 1990-2011 inclusive. To make the panel data analysis more homogenous, we also investigate this interrelationship for a number of sub-panels which are constructed based on the income level of countries. In this way, we end up with three income panels; namely, high income, middle income, and low income panels. In the empirical part, we draw on growth theory and augment the classical growth model, which consists of capital stock, labor force and inflation, with foreign direct investment and energy. Generally, we shows mixed results about the interrelationship between energy consumption, FDI and economic growth.

Book The Relationship Between Growth Foreign Direct Investment and Trade in MENA Countries

Download or read book The Relationship Between Growth Foreign Direct Investment and Trade in MENA Countries written by Mehdi Behname and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present research studies the causality relationship between the three variables of foreign direct investment (FDI), export (EX) and gross domestic product (GDP) for the period from 1977 to 2009 using Panel model for Mena countries. Having performed the variables stationarity test, Pedroni co-integration test has been done which indicates that there is no long-run relationship between variables. The test results indicate that there is a bidirectional causality relationship between GDP and FDI and these two reinforce each other and there is a causality relationship from FDI to EX in this zone.

Book A Granger Causality Analysis Between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth

Download or read book A Granger Causality Analysis Between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth written by Sharmiladevi . and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foreign Direct Investment is globally considered as an inevitable vehicle for the prospective development of developing countries. Governments across the globe are taking all possible efforts to pull in as much Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as possible. Across countries it has proved significantly time and again that FDI enhances the development of the economy in many channels. This paper examines the existence of link between FDI and economic growth. Pair wise Granger Causality Analysis is used to study causality. Gross Domestic Product is proxied with Economic Growth. With two lags, our results suggest that there exists a bi directional relationship between lagged values of FDI and GDP.

Book Causality Between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth in India

Download or read book Causality Between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth in India written by Tripura C.U. Sundari and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foreign direct investment is considered to be a vital component of every nation's attempt towards economic development. It contributes directly to the growth, and facilitates transfer of managerial skills, besides improving global market access. On this background, the present paper investigates the causal nexus between foreign direct investment and economic growth in India. Also, the paper identifies and finds out an explanation for its association. Granger causality Test is employed to examine the causality between FDI and Economic growth in India, for which annual data from UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) for the year 1995 to 2013 was used. The Granger test reveals a positive relationship from GDP to FDI.

Book How Does Foreign Direct Investment Affect Economic Growth

Download or read book How Does Foreign Direct Investment Affect Economic Growth written by Mr.Eduardo Borensztein and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 1994-09-01 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We test the effect of foreign direct investment (FDI) on economic growth in a cross-country regression framework, utilizing data on FDI flows from industrial countries to 69 developing countries over the last two decades. Our results suggest that FDI is an important vehicle for the transfer of technology, contributing relatively more to growth than domestic investment. However, the higher productivity of FDI holds only when the host country has a minimum threshold stock of human capital. In addition, FDI has the effect of increasing total investment in the economy more than one for one, which suggests the predominance of complementarity effects with domestic firms.

Book Causality Between FDI and Financial Market Development

Download or read book Causality Between FDI and Financial Market Development written by Issouf Soumaré and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper studies the causal relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and financial market development (FMD) using panel data from emerging markets. Most studies of the relationship between FDI and FMD have focused on the role of FMD in the link between FDI and economic growth, with no deep understanding of direct causality between FDI and FMD, especially in emerging markets, where financial markets are in the development stage. We document bidirectional causality between FDI and stock market development indicators. For banking sector development indicators, the relationship is ambiguous and inconclusive. Care is therefore needed when analysing the relationship between FMD and FDI, as results may depend on whether the FMD variables used to evaluate causality are stock market or banking sector development indicators.

Book The Relationship Between Foreign Direct Investment and Tourism Development

Download or read book The Relationship Between Foreign Direct Investment and Tourism Development written by R. P. C. R. Rajapakse and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tourism is one of the most important export sectors in many developing countries. It not only increases foreign exchange income, but also creates employment opportunities, stimulates the growth of the tourism industry and as a result, contributes to overall economic growth. As there is a widely accepted belief that tourism plays a fundamental role for developing countries to achieve economic growth and development, tourism development has become an important target for most governments, especially in developing countries. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is an important source of capital for the development of the tourism sector in any country. The study investigated the causal relationship between foreign direct investment in tourism (FDIT) and the number of foreign tourist arrivals (TOUR) in Sri Lanka/Foreign Exchange Earnings from Tourism (FEE) using quarterly data for the period 2005:1 to 2013:4. The analysis reveals that the time series TOUR and FDIT/FEE and FDIT are not cointegrated. The VAR systems in first differences of the variables were used to investigate the causality between the variables. The results show that there is uni-directional relationship from FDIT to tourism and FDIT to FEE.

Book Time Series Analysis of Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth

Download or read book Time Series Analysis of Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth written by Gurmeet Singh and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study investigates the relationship between the foreign direct investment (FDI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the period 1975-2013. Granger causality test & Johansen's co-integration test have been applied to explore the direction of causality & long run relationship between the variables foreign direct investment (FDI) and gross domestic product (GDP). The result shows that the FDI and the GDP are co-integrated and, hence, a long-run equilibrium relationship exists between them. It is observed that the FDI positively relate to GDP. In the Granger causality sense, FDI causes the GDP in the both long-run and short-run. There is bidirectional causality exists between FDI and GDP.
