Download or read book Real Resumes for Jobs in Nonprofit Organizations written by Anne McKinney and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2012-04-03 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonprofit professionals now have a career bible that is specially designed for them! Whether the reader wants to stay in a nonprofit organization or transition into the corporate world or other environment, this book will help. It shows samples of resumes and cover letters that worked for real people. Newcomers to nonprofits will learn how to enter the field, and experienced professionals will find help in advancing to choice jobs. Nonprofit professionals often change fields, too, and the book includes resumes of individuals who have successfully transitioned into other areas. A "bonus" of the book is that it also shows samples of paperwork involved in obtaining federal government positions; for example, the book includes samples of the KSAs as well as the "resumix" often required to apply for federal positions. Ask people who have worked in a nonprofit organization about resume preparation and they will tell you that resumes and cover letters for their particular needs are highly specialized! That's why this book will be of enormous value to those who seek employment in the nonprofit world--or who want to transition out of the nonprofit world. The book includes resumes for folks who have worked in national trade associations and in nonprofit environments such as the United Way, Salvation Army, the American Cancer Society, and many similar organizations. A special section on the federal hiring process also shows the reader how to apply for federal government employment, and there are samples of the specialized resumes and applications used in the federal hiring process. So whether you are entering the nonprofit arena, transferring skills out of the nonprofit world, or seeking federal employment, you will find this book useful. A word of advice from Editor Anne McKinney: "If you want to enter the nonprofit field or advance in that respected community, you don't need just any resume book. You need an industry-specific resume book! You will love this book targeted specifically to the nonprofit field. Every resume and cover letter we put in a Real-Resumes Series book has been tested and proven in the real job market. Don't play games with your career. Your choice of a resume book is one of the most important career decisions you will ever make." Praise for titles in the Real-Resumes Series: "Distinguished by its highly readable samples." - Library Journal "These excellent new guides don't just provide the usual coverage on how to write a resume. They provide industry-specific examples, industry-specific tips and cautions, and industry-specific strategies based on real-world resumes. Since many technical types aren't writers, this comes as a special gift; select a winning format, plug in your background specs, and away you go. It's that easy--with Real-Resumes in hand."-- The Midwest Book Review Testimonials from people who have successfully used this book: "After a successful career in a major trade association, I wanted to make a change. The Real-Resumes Series showed me how to present my nonprofit experience to profit-making organizations." A. Tristole "I had no idea how to create a resume for federal government employment. The Real-Resumes Series helped me get a federal job." D. Book The Changing Dynamic of Government Nonprofit Relationships

Download or read book The Changing Dynamic of Government Nonprofit Relationships written by Kirsten A. Grønbjerg and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-02-11 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We advance nonprofit scholarship by using the conceptual framework of policy fields to examine differences across nonprofit fields of activity. We focus on the structure of relationships among four sectors (government, nonprofit, market, informal) and how relationships differ across policy fields (here health, human services, education, arts and culture, and religion). The fields differ notably in the economic share that each sector holds and the functional division of labor among the sectors. Systemic differences also exist in how the nonprofit sector interacts with the government, market, and informal sectors. The policy fields themselves operate within national contexts of distinctive economic and political configurations. The framework explores how government-nonprofit relationships differ across policy fields, the factors responsible for this variation, and offers predictive capacity to generate hypotheses and research designs for additional research. We provide insights on how nonprofit organizations differ in key sub-fields with direct relevance for policy and practice.

Download or read book Faith Hope and Jobs written by Stephen V. Monsma and published by Georgetown University Press. This book was released on 2006-08-04 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A front-burner issue on the public policy agenda today is the increased use of partnerships between government and nongovernmental entities, including faith-based social service organizations. In the wake of President Bush's faith-based initiative, many are still wondering about the effectiveness of these faith-based organizations in providing services to those in need, and whether they provide better outcomes than more traditional government, secular nonprofit, and for-profit organizations. In Faith, Hope, and Jobs, Stephen V. Monsma and J. Christopher Soper study the effectiveness of 17 different welfare-to-work programs in Los Angeles County—a county in which the U.S. government spends 14% of its entire welfare budget—and offer groundbreaking insight into understanding what works and what doesn't. Monsma and Soper examine client assessment of the programs, their progress in developing attitudes and resources important for finding self-supporting employment, and their experience in finding actual employment. The study reveals that the clients of the more explicitly faith-based programs did best in gaining in social capital and were highly positive in evaluating the religious components of their programs. For-profit programs tended to do the best in terms of their clients finding employment. Overall, the religiously active respondents tended to experience better outcomes than those who were not religiously active but surprisingly, the religiously active and non-active tended to do equally well in faith-based programs. Faith, Hope, and Jobs concludes with three sets of concrete recommendations for public policymakers, social service program managers, and researchers.
