Book The Neoliberal Pattern of Domination

Download or read book The Neoliberal Pattern of Domination written by José Manuel Sánchez Bermúdez and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2012-06-21 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At its current state of historical development, capital finds its internal contradictions tending towards an irresolvable character as manifested in multiple crises. Embodied in a fistful of gigantic transnational companies whose representatives seek consolidation as a global oligarchy, capital continues to concentrate its economic, political and military power as it produces a growing mass of redundant human beings, promotes conflicts that result in misery, chaos, social degradation and death, and destroys entire societies while razing the natural environment, thereby putting humanity itself at risk. The defense of life and the construction of renewed hope for a future require opposition to the domination of capital. This book seeks to contribute to that effort by setting out an analysis of the mechanisms in which capital is based.

Yet, as they need to transform the existing social order from within, groups struggling for social justice face various strategic dilemmas. Book Insecurity and Welfare Regimes in Asia Africa and Latin America

Download or read book Insecurity and Welfare Regimes in Asia Africa and Latin America written by Ian Gough and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2004-02-26 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by a team of internationally respected experts, this book explores the conditions under which social policy, defined as the public pursuit of secure welfare, operates in the poorer regions of the world. Social policy in advanced capitalist countries operates through state intervention to compensate for the inadequate welfare outcomes of the labour market. Such welfare regimes cannot easily be reproduced in poorer regions of the world where states suffer problems of governance and labour markets are imperfect and partial. Other welfare regimes therefore prevail involving non-state actors such as landlords, moneylenders and patrons. This book seeks to develop a conceptual framework for understanding different types of welfare regime in a range of countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa and makes an important contribution to the literature by breaking away from the traditional focus on Europe and North America.

Book Glosario Del Banco Mundial

Download or read book Glosario Del Banco Mundial written by World Bank and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 1996 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition of the World Bank has been revised and expanded by the Terminology Unit in the Languages Services Division of the World Bank in collaboration with the English, Spanish, and French Translation Sections. The Glossary is intended to assist the Bank's translators and interpreters, other Bank staff using French and Spanish in their work, and free-lance translator's and interpreters employed by the Bank. For this reason, the Glossary contains not only financial and economic terminology and terms relating to the Bank's procedures and practices, but also terms that frequently occur in Bank documents, and others for which the Bank has a preferred equivalent. Although many of these terms, relating to such fields as agriculture, education, energy, housing, law, technology, and transportation, could be found in other sources, they have been assembled here for ease of reference. A list of acronyms occurring frequently in Bank texts (the terms to which they refer being found in the Glossary) and a list of international, regional, and national organizations will be found at the end of the Glossary.
