Yeah, Emerald is a boss, but she isn’t the boss. It’s amazing how quickly bossing up can turn to bitching up when money comes up missing. With a new connect for his coke, Ezra is ready to jump head first into the game, but before he can even move his product, he’s gotta to find out who robbed his trap, leaving one of his workers for dead. He puts his team of hittas in charge of it, but the person least likely to assist him is the one that comes through in the clutch. The jack boys were only one of his problems, and when Emerald ends up in a jam, he is forced to pay the piper. Taylin is on cloud nine dating her new beau, McKinley. Though they’ve only been talking for a short period of time, and have already had their share of problems, she is still rocking with him. That is, until Professor Nosa Ealy’s sexy ass shows up to lecture for a week. She had a little crush on him in the past, but he never took any of the bait she threw at him. This time around, however, the tables will turn when he admits to liking her. She tries to ignore him, until McKinley’s night out lands him in the bed with his ex. Will Emerald be able to repay the debt before feeling the wrath of her father, or will she have to face the music? Will Ezra come through in the clutch, or will he leave Emerald to sort things out on her own? Will Taylin and McKinley be able to move past another bump in their relationship, or will his night out with the boys ruin his relationship forever?

Book California Greenin

Download or read book California Greenin written by David Vogel and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2018-05-01 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A political history of environmental policy and regulation in California, from the Gold Rush to the present Over the course of its 150-year history, California has successfully protected its scenic wilderness areas, restricted coastal oil drilling, regulated automobile emissions, preserved coastal access, improved energy efficiency, and, most recently, addressed global climate change. How has this state, more than any other, enacted so many innovative and stringent environmental regulations over such a long period of time? The first comprehensive look at California's history of environmental leadership, California Greenin' shows why the Golden State has been at the forefront in setting new environmental standards, often leading the rest of the nation. From the establishment of Yosemite, America's first protected wilderness, and the prohibition of dumping gold-mining debris in the nineteenth century to sweeping climate- change legislation in the twenty-first, David Vogel traces California's remarkable environmental policy trajectory. He explains that this pathbreaking role developed because California had more to lose from environmental deterioration and more to gain from preserving its stunning natural geography. As a result, citizens and civic groups effectively mobilized to protect and restore their state's natural beauty and, importantly, were often backed both by business interests and bystrong regulatory authorities. Business support for environmental regulation in California reveals that strict standards are not only compatible with economic growth but can also contribute to it. Vogel also examines areas where California has fallen short, particularly in water management and the state's dependence on automobile transportation. As environmental policy debates continue to grow more heated, California Greenin' demonstrates that the Golden State's impressive record of environmental accomplishments holds lessons not just for the country but for the world.

Book Weird Scenes Inside The Canyon

Download or read book Weird Scenes Inside The Canyon written by David McGowan and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2014-03-19 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The very strange but nevertheless true story of the dark underbelly of a 1960s hippie utopia. Laurel Canyon in the 1960s and early 1970s was a magical place where a dizzying array of musical artists congregated to create much of the music that provided the soundtrack to those turbulent times. Members of bands like the Byrds, the Doors, Buffalo Springfield, the Monkees, the Beach Boys, the Turtles, the Eagles, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Steppenwolf, CSN, Three Dog Night and Love, along with such singer/songwriters as Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, James Taylor and Carole King, lived together and jammed together in the bucolic community nestled in the Hollywood Hills. But there was a dark side to that scene as well. Many didn’t make it out alive, and many of those deaths remain shrouded in mystery to this day. Far more integrated into the scene than most would like to admit was a guy by the name of Charles Manson, along with his murderous entourage. Also floating about the periphery were various political operatives, up-and-coming politicians and intelligence personnel – the same sort of people who gave birth to many of the rock stars populating the canyon. And all the canyon’s colorful characters – rock stars, hippies, murderers and politicos – happily coexisted alongside a covert military installation.

Book Born to Run

Download or read book Born to Run written by Bruce Springsteen and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-09-05 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's half-time show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to these pages the same honesty, humour, and originality found in his songs. He describes growing up Catholic in Freehold, New Jersey, amid the poetry, danger, and darkness that fueled his imagination, leading up to the moment he refers to as "The Big Bang": seeing Elvis Presley's debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. He vividly recounts his relentless drive to become a musician, his early days as a bar band king in Asbury Park, and the rise of the E Street Band. With disarming candour, he also tells for the first time the story of the personal struggles that inspired his best work, and shows us why the song "Born to Run" reveals more than we previously realized.

Book The American Dream

Download or read book The American Dream written by Jim Cullen and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cullen particularly focuses on the founding fathers and the Declaration of Independence ("the charter of the American Dream"); Abraham Lincoln, with his rise from log cabin to White House and his dream for a unified nation; and Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream of racial equality. Our contemporary version of the American Dream seems rather debased in Cullen's eyes-built on the cult of Hollywood and its outlandish dreams of overnight fame and fortune.
