It is located in the province of Cosenza and, by number of inhabitants with almost 75,000 residents, it is the third largest city in Calabria after Reggio Calabria and Catanzaro. In its territory there is the Regional Nature Reserve of the Foce del Crati. It is characterized by the presence of numerous churches of Byzantine origin and the Ducal Castle of Norman origin which is very well preserved. It is a very important shopping center and a very popular tourist destination in summer. It can be reached via the Mediterranean motorway (Sibari exit) or via the state road 106 which connects Taranto to Reggio Calabria. It is well connected with Cosenza, Catanzaro, Rome, Naples, Milan with an efficient bus service. There are two train stations, but the Ionian line is not very efficient at the moment. The Sibari station, which is 17,5 kilometers away, which can be traveled in about 18 minutes by car, is served by Trenitalia with Frecciargento with daily runs to and from Rome.

Even today, eminent sacred buildings stand out, largely preserved thanks to structural interventions carried out by the local administration, together with the Superintendence for cultural heritage and the University of Geneva, with the aim of creating an interesting archaeological park of considerable value, which can attract the visitor's interest, both from a cultural and historical landscape point of view. The Municipal Administration, in welcoming all those who want to honor us with their presence, propose to promote initiatives aimed at making the Acerenthia Archaeological Park usable, welcoming, thus giving the visitor the opportunity to rediscover the historical and cultural heritage of our country. This book was released on 2022-10-14 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The book will focus not only on the widely understood tourist exploitation processes, their geographical diversity and density, but also on their significance and influence (economic, socio-cultural, tourist etc.) on regional development and sustainability. It will also cover the debate on promotion of innovative, sustainable and responsible tourism strategies, plans and funds, and the movement towards responsible and sustainable cultural tourism through the crisis in marginal areas. It will also highlight the dramatic changes to the global tourism industry brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent months.
