It was again on the suggestion of Dr. F. A. F. C. Went, Professor of Botany in Utrecht University, that this voyage was undertaken and it is principally owing to his exertions that the following corporations gave finantial support: de Maatschappij ter bevordering van het Natuurkundig onderzoek der Nederlandsche kolonien (Society for promoting the Physical investigation of the Dutch colonies), de Koninklijke Academie van Wetenschappen te Amsterdam (Royal Society at Amsterdam) which put the P.
