Book Simulation Technologies in Networking and Communications

Download or read book Simulation Technologies in Networking and Communications written by Al-Sakib Khan Pathan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-11-06 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulation is a widely used mechanism for validating the theoretical models of networking and communication systems. Although the claims made based on simulations are considered to be reliable, how reliable they really are is best determined with real-world implementation trials. Simulation Technologies in Networking and Communications: Selecting the Best Tool for the Test addresses the spectrum of issues regarding the different mechanisms related to simulation technologies in networking and communications fields. Focusing on the practice of simulation testing instead of the theory, it presents the work of more than 50 experts from around the world. Considers superefficient Monte Carlo simulations Describes how to simulate and evaluate multicast routing algorithms Covers simulation tools for cloud computing and broadband passive optical networks Reports on recent developments in simulation tools for WSNs Examines modeling and simulation of vehicular networks The book compiles expert perspectives about the simulation of various networking and communications technologies. These experts review and evaluate popular simulation modeling tools and recommend the best tools for your specific tests. They also explain how to determine when theoretical modeling would be preferred over simulation. This book does not provide a verdict on the best suitable tool for simulation. Instead, it supplies authoritative analyses of the different kinds of networks and systems. Presenting best practices and insights from global experts, the book provides you with an understanding of what to simulate, where to simulate, whether to simulate or not, when to simulate, and how to simulate for a wide range of issues.

Book Introduction to Network Simulator NS2

Download or read book Introduction to Network Simulator NS2 written by Teerawat Issariyakul and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-12-02 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Network Simulator NS2 is a primer providing materials for NS2 beginners, whether students, professors, or researchers for understanding the architecture of Network Simulator 2 (NS2) and for incorporating simulation modules into NS2. The authors discuss the simulation architecture and the key components of NS2 including simulation-related objects, network objects, packet-related objects, and helper objects. The NS2 modules included within are nodes, links, SimpleLink objects, packets, agents, and applications. Further, the book covers three helper modules: timers, random number generators, and error models. Also included are chapters on summary of debugging, variable and packet tracing, result compilation, and examples for extending NS2. Two appendices provide the details of scripting language Tcl, OTcl and AWK, as well object oriented programming used extensively in NS2.

Book Simulation of Water Based Thermal Solar Systems

Download or read book Simulation of Water Based Thermal Solar Systems written by W.L. Dutré and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1991-04-30 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to facilitate detailed solar system simulations and to make such simulations readily available to solar engineers in their daily practice of system dimensioning and performance calculations, user friendly software for personal computers has been developed as a system specific simulation program for a frequently installed group of water based solar system types. The program package has been developed as part of the OPSYS R&D-program of the Commission of the European Communities and has been named EURSOL. The set of system configurations considered includes different types of thermal solar systems for space heating and hot water production. The simulations are based on validated physical system models. The program offers complete freedom with regard to all parameters describing the systems and includes on-line help, economic evaluations and graphical output. This book describes the system considered in EURSOL, the mathematical algorithm, the physical model of each component used, the processing of solar radiation data and the economic evaluation criteria. Although the book is mainly a manual for the use of the simulation program, it is also a guide for the development of simplified simulation models for solar systems.
