Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Sensors' is the first self-contained series to deal with the wholearea of sensors. It describes general aspects, technical andphysical fundamentals, construction, function, applications anddevelopments of the various types of sensors. This volume describes the construction and applicational aspects ofthermal sensors while presenting a rigorous treatment of theunderlying physical principles. It provides a unique overview ofthe various categories of sensors as well as of specific groups,e.g. temperature sensors (resistance thermometers, thermocouples, and radiation thermometers), noise and acoustic thermometers,heat-flow and mass-flow sensors. Specific facettes of applicationsare presented by specialists from different fields includingprocess control, automotive technology and cryogenics. This volumeis an indispensable reference work and text book for bothspecialists and newcomers, researchers and developers.

Book Engineering Application of Heat Flux Sensors in Buildings The Sensor and Its Behavior

Download or read book Engineering Application of Heat Flux Sensors in Buildings The Sensor and Its Behavior written by HA. Trethowen and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The factors affecting the measurement accuracy of (perfectly calibrated) heat flux sensors in buildings are discussed. A preliminary attempt is made to quantify this measurement error using dimensionless parameters. This attempt indicates that the method offers some promise and that some previously little-discussed items, such as the absolute size of the sensor, may have a great effect on the accuracy. An additional heat flux sensor is described, and a simple calibration method using a heater foil is outlined.

Book Engineering Application of Heat Flux Sensors in Buildings

Download or read book Engineering Application of Heat Flux Sensors in Buildings written by Nigel Isaacs and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1978, new houses in New Zealand have had to achieve minimum levels of thermal insulation. A large field survey was carried out during the winter of 1983. This paper outlines the basis of the survey, the equipment used, and the measurement issues raised by the use of heat flux sensors. The results from a pilot study of 25 houses are discussed in terms of the activities that affect measurements. A comparison of calculated and "measured" R-values for known walls indicates a measurement "calibration" of within 10% for the equipment and analysis.

Book Heat Flux Sensor Applications for Below Grade Energy Studies

Download or read book Heat Flux Sensor Applications for Below Grade Energy Studies written by PH. Shipp and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of heat flux sensors for energy studies of below-grade building envelopes and soil heat transfer is discussed. In a two-year study of three basements, heat flux sensors provided valuable information about local variations over the envelope surfaces. For complex building geometries, experimental designs that combine calorimetric monitoring of energy consumption with envelope heat flux profiles from heat flux sensors offer the most efficient means of determining building thermal performance.
