He will help the deprived at all times and feed everyone who comes knocking at his door. He keeps the promise, much against his mothers wishes, and nearly loses his life for helping his neighbours. He knew then that if he stays a minute longer in the kitchen, he will lose his life. He walks out of his mothers kitchen with blood running down his throat, and thats when his adventures begin. He attracts all kinds of people on his journey but mostly con artists, thieves, and drug addicts. They call him the sucker because of his desire to feed people and give his belongings to people who ask him for them. Then there is one drug addict who is out of the same neighbourhood as the boyand who knows of the boys weaknesses. He knows how to exploit it and figures that if the boy is free with his money by giving it away, then he could claim 10 per cent from the boys earnings and feed his habits. But the boy, who doesnt hold with drugs and liquor, refuses. He has better uses for his money. The boy is now streetwise and has been living outdoors for some time. He takes evasive measures and disappears from the drug addict. He travels abroad, and years later, he marries and settles down in London. By some extraordinary bad luck, the drug addict tracks him down and makes his demand, but Lynx Ferry wont budge. The addict then teams up with a couple of local toughs, kidnaps Ferrys children, murders them, and disappears. After many years of searching to bring the murderers to justice, which proves futile, Lynx uses the power of the mind to draw them to him. Then in the frozen wasteland of the snowcapped Arctic, the subliminal message draws them out, and Lynx Ferry has his say.

Book excerpt: These wry, self-deprecating poems-or verbal movies-may seem on first reading-or first viewing-merely vibrant wordplay, images on paper, light on a silver screen. But once internalized, the poems reveal a deep and empathetic comprehension of the beauty and loneliness contained in the most mundane human activities. Illuminating the exquisite darkness with humor and satire, Randy Stark reveals an entertaining antidote to modern despair. From "The Impressionist" Here's my impression of life in Exactamundo: Exactly enough scientists, flowers and fish, Exactly enough corneal transplants and trimmers and edgers, Exactly enough outlets to let the creative side out in, Exactly the quantity it should be let out in, Exactly enough pumpkins turning into exactly enough casino buses, Exactly enough timepieces on exactly enough wrists.

Book excerpt: A man. A tiger. A tornado. Jared Montaine owns a big cat rescue in Florida and faces financial pressures, getting over his ex-wife, and the challenge of suburbia creeping ever closer to his enclave for the animals. But when a tornado wrecks part of the refuge, Jared's worst fear comes to life: his Siberian tiger, Sultan, escapes. It's a big cat handler’s nightmare: a tiger on the loose, confused, lost -- and hungry. Jared races against the police, the media, and the hysterical public, all of whom are clamoring for the tiger's hide. He must re-capture Sultan before the cat is killed -- by traffic, by SWAT, or by a civilian who just wants to shoot a tiger. With fellow wildlife handlers at his side, Jared fights desperately to find and capture Sultan before the tiger injures or kills a human. Because that would lead to his worst nightmare -- having to kill the tiger he hand-raised from a cub. Jared’s commitment is tested -- to his animals, his refuge, and his belief that saving the life of even one tiger is worth losing everything.

But first Hasefi will have to overcome the tragedy of her tribe's death. Will she have to face Sal? Is there anyone she can trust? Terenmoro Wolfcat: Rising Sun follows Hasefi as she struggles to survive alone in the wild, striving to complete her mission against insurmountable odds. Help comes from an unlikely companion, a lone wolf named Kolahn, who joins her trek through dangerous territory to finish Hasefi's quest. Your clan judges you by your fur with a story judged by action. Rising Sun demonstrates the power of loyalty in friendship and how that bond can go beyond one's own kind. Sometimes it's hard to find people we can count on, especially when the idea of who and what people are is changing. Rising Sun shows that there's no need for a big circle of friends so long as you have that one who will support you through anything and offer unconditional love.
