Well over half of young adults raised in the Church have dropped out with many having a strong anti-Church stance, many even believing the Church does more harm than good.Fr. Josh Johnson was one of these people. In Broken and Blessed he tackles the harsh realities facing the Church in the 21st century. With charity and courage he speaks to his own generation of Catholic “Millennials,” who often feel their needs and concerns are not being addressed by the Church, or who simply do not believe the Catholic Faith has any relevance to their lives. Using his own experiences, both as a former struggling young Catholic and as a priest, Fr. Josh offers an inspiring witness of how he came to know God, rather than just knowing about him—and presents practical ways for us to truly know God as well. Broken and Blessed: Addresses head-on Millennials’ most pressing issues with the Catholic Faith Presents powerful and inspiring stories from Fr. Josh’s own faith journey Shows how one can truly encounter Jesus in a personal way Offers practical insights on how to overcome habitual sins Discusses the nature of prayer, as well as the challenges to prayer and how to overcome them

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blessed, Broken, and Scared. What does that mean? We know that Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and shared it with His friends saying, "This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me." The Last Supper challenges us to live in such a way that we actually become the sacred food of Jesus Christ for others as we share our lives with them. And that can be scary! Blessed, Broken, and Scared calls the reader to a conversion from living a scared life to living a shared life. It is in sharing our life with others that we find the healing and peace we truly seek. All people are wounded by the world and have areas of hidden brokenness in their life. This book offers hope, healing, and change as it explores the profound implications of God's mercy, forgiveness, and love. "Brian addresses some very important issues in a conversational style that invites you into his book. Let this book, in a "sea of purple," be a place for us to share and be blessed. This book will truly encourage us to be Eucharist for one another." Fr. Martin Schratz OFM Cap. Brian has been sharing his Blessed, Broken, and Scared retreats around the country for years. Now the message has been captured in this book. Here is what some past retreatants have had to say: "Brian opens himself to all and helped us see that our brokenness isn't a deterrent to God's love and healing. Our retreat was truly a special day." "Should be required for today's Christians and Catholics." "One of the best day retreats that I have attended in nearly 40 years! So much to reflect on and put into action." "I have been to many seminars, webinars, retreats and have been blessed to have read many great books, but I have to say...this retreat impacted my life as to learning more about God's will in my life than any other book, resource, event ever has! Thanks be to God!" Brian Pusateri is a Christian author and speaker. Brian felt his life was forever changed when God spoke to his heart while attending a retreat in 2011. With the God-inspired message of mercy and unconditional love, Brian has been impacting others all over the country and around the world with his weekly letters, talks, and retreats. Brian and his wife of 45 years, Mary Beth, live in, and love the Carolina mountains.

Book excerpt: What would cause Experience Life Church, frequently named one of the fastest-growing churches in the country, to completely change directions? Why would they risk an attendance drop and a decrease in giving in pursuit of a vision that has seldom been attempted in the American church? The leaders of Experience Life knew this journey would be risky and calculated the costs before ever beginning. They believed that following Jesus and aiming to reach millions was worth any cost. Be careful with this book. It might inspire you to risk everything you have to follow Jesus. You've been warned.

  • Pages : 84 pages

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the trials and broken pieces you went through in life did not come to break you; they only came to make you. Since you did not break down, it is now time for you to break through. Every trials and broken pieces that you went through in life means that they did not come to kill you but to shape you. Whatever does not break you only comes to make you. If you did not break down, this is your time to break through. God is only using your pieces to make up your pages. Every broken piece of your life will make up the pages to your chapter. Someone is trying to make it through the trials and pieces that you already went through. Your trails and pieces will be their guiding tools and the road map that will build the bridge for their crossing over. You were broken not only to be blessed; you were broken to be a blessing to someone's life. There are some people who were lifted to get to the top while there are some who had to climb ropes and rocks to get there. The ones who had to climb understood that life is defined by what you went through and the ways in which you survived. This means that whatever comes to defy you only comes to define who you are on the inside. Your test will be your testimonies, and all the mess that you went through will be used by God for your messages. Jesus was broken as the living bread, broken to save lives. This means your brokenness will bring healing and restoration. For those going through a brokenness, you will be coming out whole. This book is a guideline with tools that will help you in your journey to recovery.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God allows brokenness. We learned that God is good and gracious but we live in a broken world. This story deals with a broken home, a broken body and a broken heart. Jesus the Man of Sorrows knew the greatest suffering and loss. Out of all our trials our knowledge and love of God grew deeper. He brought healing and blessing. He never forsakes us but is in fact “near to the brokenhearted.” His grace is amazing and sufficient. We learned we had to be steadfast in our faith through it all. Faith means being faithful in all of our trials because God is in control and has a sovereign plan for each of us. Suffering here is temporary but heaven is forever glorious. There is hope, healing and blessing for the broken.

These were no sugar-coated blessings. They minimized none of the pain and bewilderment that came in the wake of a wrenching death. With these blessings, Jan entered, instead, into the depths of the shock, anger, and sorrow. From those depths, she has brought forth words that, with heartbreaking honesty, offer surprising comfort and stunning grace. Those who know loss will find kinship among these pages. In these blessings that move through the anguish of rending into the unexpected shelters of solace and hope, there shimmers a light that helps us see we do not walk alone. From her own path of grief, Jan offers a luminous, unforgettable gift that invites us to know the tenacity of hope and to recognize the presence of love that, as she writes, is "sorrow's most lasting cure."

Book Broken for the Blessing

    Book Details:
  • Author : Minister Paul Hillman
  • Publisher : Xlibris Us
  • Release : 2021-04-09
  • ISBN : 9781664159709
  • Pages : 86 pages

Download or read book Broken for the Blessing written by Minister Paul Hillman and published by Xlibris Us. This book was released on 2021-04-09 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "For his anger endureth but for a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning" (Ps. 30:5, KJV). So is Broken for a Blessing: It is from a weeping night to a joyful morning-from brokenness to restoration. At some point, one will face some kind of turmoil, storm, or darkness. However, each of these can also be seen as a developing process. Like bread when it is broken: whenever a bread is broken: it meant, someone is getting ready to eat. This is the same from hurting to healing. God breaks you to heal you or turn you into a better person. This is what Broken for a Blessing is about. In this book, the author wrote ten chapters as he considers the number 10 to be significant. He talks about events that were written about in the Bible and uses the number as a metaphor of one's destiny. He also uses the number 10 as a metaphor in his own life journey. When he was ten years old, he played a game called the ten steps to Zion. In the game, each of the competitors would hold a Bible. The judge would say "Sword in hand" and then give the competitors a Bible verse, and whoever found it first would take a step. The game would end when a player reached the tenth bench. The author would always be the one who would reach the tenth bench first. In addition, the author started his life in the United States with ten dollars; he actually started with a hundred dollars, but he used ninety dollars of that amount just to pay his rent. He was married for ten years before he suffered a broken marriage. It was during his time of brokenness and isolation when God revealed the book in his spirit, Broken for a Blessing. This book will inspire you and will let you know that there's hope and a purpose for you. You should not get bitter when you are broken; rather, you should understand that you are going through to make yourself better. Whatever comes to break you should be seen as something that is coming to make you. There's a process in the making and a process in becoming. This is not the time for you to break down; it's the time for you to break through.
