Book Bringing Blockchain to Corporate Finance A Smart Contract for Corporate Bonds

Download or read book Bringing Blockchain to Corporate Finance A Smart Contract for Corporate Bonds written by Christian Schäfer and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2020-04-23 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally intended to be an innovative electronic payment system, the new technology Bitcoin could have a disruptive impact on other industries as well. Blockchain enthusiasts, private companies, government and academic institutions are currently trying to stake out and unlock the full spectrum of the technology's potential. Capital market transactions are among these use cases as many players are involved in these transactions, resulting in high costs and long transaction times. By integrating blockchain technology into the settlement of security transactions, the cost and complexity of the processes might be reduced. As Christian Schäfer explains, the crucial instrument for the realization of these potentials are smart contracts, enabled by the Ethereum Blockchain. In his books, Schäfer examines the technical feasibility of a smart contract that enables the issuing and trading of corporate bonds without intermediaries. The key features for the smart contract have been derived from the payment mechanisms of a bond and the standard for token contracts established within the Ethereum developer community. The requirements for the smart contract could be implemented successfully, as confirmed by the documentation of two simulations. In this book: - Internet of Things; - solidity; - token; - ERC20 standard; - corporate bonds

Book Blockchain Based Bonds

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study delves into the impact of blockchain-based bonds on corporate financing and the bond market, with a specific focus on Germany. Utilizing qualitative insights from 19 experts, it compares blockchain-based bonds with traditional bonds, explores market-adoption dynamics, assesses the evolving roles of market intermediaries, and considers future development prospects. The findings suggest that blockchain-based bonds could offer longterm benefits in terms of accessibility, overall risk, cost efficiency, and transparency. However, they currently face significant challenges, including technological fragmentation, high liquidity risks, large investment requirements, and regulatory complexities. Market adoption is still in its nascent stages, with development initiatives like the DLT Pilot Regime not yet making a substantial impact. The study also highlights a potential shift in the roles of market intermediaries in the blockchain era, indicating new functions and possible obsolescence for some traditional roles. Experts offer varied predictions for the future of blockchain-based bonds, from the possibility of replacing traditional bonds to serving as complementary solutions or being superseded by other digital approaches.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a broad consensus amongst law firms and in-house legal departments that next generation “Legal Tech” – particularly in the form of Blockchain-based technologies and Smart Contracts – will have a profound impact on the future operations of all legal service providers. Legal Tech startups are already revolutionizing the legal industry by increasing the speed and efficiency of traditional legal services or replacing them altogether with new technologies. This on-going process of disruption within the legal profession offers significant opportunities for all business. However, it also poses a number of challenges for practitioners, trade associations, technology vendors, and regulators who often struggle to keep up with the technologies, resulting in a widening regulatory “gap.” Many uncertainties remain regarding the scope, direction, and effects of these new technologies and their integration with existing practices and legacy systems. Adding to the challenges is the growing need for easy-to-use contracting solutions, on the one hand, and for protecting the users of such solutions, on the other. To respond to the challenges and to provide better legal communications, systems, and services Legal Tech scholars and practitioners have found allies in the emerging field of Legal Design. This collection brings together leading scholars and practitioners working on these issues from diverse jurisdictions. The aim is to introduce Blockchain and Smart Contract technologies, and to examine their on-going impact on the legal profession, business and regulators.

Book A Beginner s Journey to Ethereum s Smart Contracts

Download or read book A Beginner s Journey to Ethereum s Smart Contracts written by Peter Wanjala and published by . This book was released on 2018-04-19 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The potentials of Ethereum smart contracts--powered by the ubiquitous Blockchain technology--has been the subject of raging debate in recent times. Pundits have long held the argument that smart contracts hold the promise of curing hurdles associated with financial contracts, banking transactions, e-commerce, logistics, supply chain and legal contracts. It is no secret that reliance on classical contracts--which uses physical documents--has led to delays in transactions, inefficiencies, and exposures to fraudulent activities. Employing smart contracts can help companies lower administration costs, reduce risks, and promote efficient business operations across multiple sectors of the economy. However, to appreciate these benefits and develop better smart contracts, developers have understood how to use the technologies to engineer Blockchain projects. This book provides a big picture view of engineering Ethereum smart contracts. It delves deeper to explore how Solidity and Web3.Js can be used to build enterprise-level smart contracts and DApps. The book has been structured into 10 chapters as follows:* Chapter 1: Overview of Blockchain and smart contracts. It explores the basic concepts about Blockchain, cryptography, smart contracts, and DApps to provide you with a solid understanding on what is required to start creating smart contracts.* Chapter 2: Smart Contracts with Web3.Js. It introduces you to Web3.Js and how you can use it to start building smart contracts. * Chapter 3: Smart Contracts Events with Web3.Js. You will learn all the basics of applying smart contract events in Web3.Js.* Chapter 4: Functions, mappings, and structs. It explores the Solidity's functions, mappings and structs and how to use them to enhance the development of smart contracts. * Chapter 5: Inheritance and Deployment. It examines how smart contracts can be inherited and deployed on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).* Chapter 6: Embark Framework. It examines the Embark framework and how it can fast-track the development and deployment of smart contracts on EVM.* Chapter 7: Testing Smart Contracts. It explores how smart contracts can be tested in different environments.* Chapter 8: Contracts Management with Factories. It examines how factories can be used to manage multiple smart contracts.* Chapter 9: IPFS and Web Hosting. It introduces the Interplanetary File System protocol and how it can be leveraged to host smart contracts.* Chapter 10: End-to-end Development of DApps. It summarizes the various steps involved in the development of DApps. Ultimately, the focus of this book is an exploration of all aspects of smart contracts and DApps that you need to know for you to start creating Ethereum-based Blockchain projects. Let's get started.
