He was against race and coloured bar, always trying to bring people closer together. It was very difficult, as he had to overcome the bitterness as a result of the wars of American Independence from 1775 to 1783 and then deal with the Civil War of 1861. He was totally against the fact that, in a number of cases, a family of father and son or brother versus brother took up arms against each other during this warring period. Even when the Union Army and the Confederate Army were each side of Kingdom, he would not be drawn into the war. Long before this period in time, Hector and Ann had many very difficult and unpleasant problems to overcome which will unfold in this volume of Kingdom and Foundation.
