Book The Usefulness of the Kantian Philosophy

Download or read book The Usefulness of the Kantian Philosophy written by Karianne J. Marx and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2011-10-27 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The works of Karl Leonhard Reinhold (1757–1823) were a major factor in the development of post-Kantian philosophy, yet his exact contribution is still under discussion. This book investigates how Reinhold’s background in Enlightenment influenced his reception of Kant‌’s critical philosophy. From his pre-Kantian efforts up to the point where he began distancing himself from the master, Reinhold’s own philosophical development takes center stage. This development, rather than critical philosophy, was the main ingredient of Reinhold’s contribution to post-Kantian philosophy.

Book Between Kant and Hegel

Download or read book Between Kant and Hegel written by George Di Giovanni and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume fills a lamentable gap in the philosophical literature by providing a collection of writings from the pivotal generation of thinkers between Kant and Hegel. It includes some of Hegel's earliest critical writings--which reveal much about his thinking before the first mature exposition of his position in 1807--as well as Schelling's justification of the new philosophy of nature against skeptical and religious attack. This edition contains George di Giovanni's extensive corrections, new preface, and thoroughly updated bibliography.

Download or read book Between Kant and Hegel written by Dieter Henrich and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2009-07-01 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrifying when first delivered in 1973, legendary in the years since, Dieter Henrich's lectures on German Idealism were the first contact a major German philosopher had made with an American audience since the onset of World War II. They remain one of the most eloquent explanations and interpretations of classical German philosophy and of the way it relates to the concerns of contemporary philosophy. Thanks to the editorial work of David Pacini, the lectures appear here with annotations linking them to editions of the masterworks of German philosophy as they are now available. Henrich describes the movement that led from Kant to Hegel, beginning with an interpretation of the structure and tensions of Kant's system. He locates the Kantian movement and revival of Spinoza, as sketched by F. H. Jacobi, in the intellectual conditions of the time and in the philosophical motivations of modern thought. Providing extensive analysis of the various versions of Fichte's Science of Knowledge, Henrich brings into view a constellation of problems that illuminate the accomplishments of the founders of Romanticism, Novalis and Friedrich Schlegel, and of the poet Hölderlin's original philosophy. He concludes with an interpretation of the basic design of Hegel's system.

Book Experimental Philosophy and the Origins of Empiricism

Download or read book Experimental Philosophy and the Origins of Empiricism written by Peter R. Anstey and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2023-01-31 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emergence of experimental philosophy was one of the most significant developments in the early modern period. However, it is often overlooked in modern scholarship, despite being associated with leading figures such as Francis Bacon, Robert Boyle, Isaac Newton, Jean Le Rond d'Alembert, David Hume and Christian Wolff. Ranging from the early Royal Society of London in the seventeenth century to the uptake of experimental philosophy in Paris and Berlin in the eighteenth, this book provides new terms of reference for understanding early modern philosophy and science, and its eventual eclipse in the shadow of post-Kantian notions of empiricism and rationalism. Experimental Philosophy and the Origins of Empiricism is an integrated history of early modern experimental philosophy which challenges the rationalism and empiricism historiography that has dominated Anglophone history of philosophy for more than a century.

Book Freiheit nach Kant

Book excerpt: Kant’s conception of freedom is of special importance in the history of philosophy. It not only brings together older traditions but has great influence on later theories of freedom. The edited volume analyzes Kant’s theory, referring to the concepts of will, choice, autonomy, and reason. It consists of four parts: Kant’s theory in its historical context; Kant’s own conception as developed in his various philosophical works; central conceptions of freedom in German Idealism after Kant (including Reinhold, Schiller, Maimon, Jacobi, Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Schopenhauer); the systematic relevance of Kant’s conception of freedom with regard to recent debates in analytic philosophy (agent causality, compatibilism and incompatibilism).

Book The A to Z of Kant and Kantianism

Download or read book The A to Z of Kant and Kantianism written by Helmut Holzhey and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2010 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few philosophers stand out as boldly as Immunuel Kant (1724-1804). His principal works, including Critique of Pure Reason, Critique of Practical Reason, and Critique of Judgement, are known worldwide. During his time, schools of Kantianism quickly sprang up and were later joined by schools of Neokantianism. Admittedly, not all of Kant's concepts have aged well, but many are still taught today among the basics of philosophy. --

Book Die Philosophie Karl Leonhard Reinholds

Download or read book Die Philosophie Karl Leonhard Reinholds written by Martin Bondeli and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2003 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Die Philosophie Karl Leonhard Reinholds (1757-1823) findet heute vermehrt Beachtung.

Book The Problem of Christ in the Work of Friedrich H lderlin

Download or read book The Problem of Christ in the Work of Friedrich H lderlin written by Mark Ogden and published by MHRA. This book was released on 1991 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study sets out to challenge the usual approach to the question of Holderlin's response to Christ, which focuses on no more than two or three late hymns, by tracing, through each major stage of Holderlin's work, a series of latent Christological debates. These debates, in which philosophy, theology, and poetry converge, represent Holderlin's engagement with the urgent intellectual issues of his day.
