Download or read book Concept Research in Food Product Design and Development written by Howard R. Moskowitz and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-02-28 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concepts are critical for the development and marketing of products and services. They constitute the blueprint for these products and services, albeit at the level of consumers rather than at the technical level. A good product concept can help make the product a success by guiding developers and advertising in the right direction. Yet, there is a dearth of both practical and scientific information about how to create and evaluate concepts. There has been little or no focus on establishing knowledge bases for concepts. Concept development is too often relegated to the so-called “fuzzy front end.” Concept Research in Food Product Design and Development remedies this inattention to product concepts by providing a unique treatment of concepts for the business professional as well as for research scientists. The book begins with simple principles of concepts, moves forward to methods for testing concepts, and then on to more substantive areas such as establishing validity, testing internationally and with children, creating databases, and selling in new methods for concept testing. The book combines a “how to” business book with a detailed treatment of the different facets of concept research. As such, the book represents a unique contribution to business applications in food, and consumer research methods. The book is positioned specifically for foods, to maintain a focus on a coherent set of topics. Concept Research in Food Product Design and Development appeals to a wide variety of audiences: R&D, marketing, sensory analysts, and universities alike. Corporate R&D professionals will learn how to create strong concepts. Marketers will recognize how concepts are at the heart of their business. Sensory analysts will find the book a natural extension of their interest in product features. University students will understand how concept research is a critical part of the “consumer-connection.” Concept Research in Food Product Design and Development is the definitive, innovative text in describing how to create, analyze, and capitalize upon new product concepts.

Download or read book Narratives of Qualitative Research written by Josh Tenenberg and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-05-21 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Narratives of Qualitative Research uses a novel form of writing about how to do qualitative research called a praxis narrative. Each narrative is told from the author’s perspective in carrying out one of his past research studies in the social sciences. Told chronologically and in a first-person voice, the narratives position the reader alongside the narrator so as to vicariously experience how research happens in its situated particulars. Rather than a set of idealizations and universalized pronouncements, the author reveals what really goes on when one is in the thick of complex and challenging research studies, the points of trouble along with the successes. This will be relevant to researchers who have already undertaken one or more empirical research studies (though not necessarily using qualitative approaches) and now find themselves facing something new: a new analytic method, a new theoretical lens, a new form of data collection, a new domain of research questions, a new rhetorical approach. This requires letting go of the secure handholds of prescribed methods and responding to the contingencies that arise in the midst of the research. The reader is invited to follow along as the author makes visible his praxis of qualitative research. Unlike more conventional texts, in this unique alternative, the reader can follow the author's journey through his research studies as a way to reorient their conception of qualitative research and their own praxis of it. This is fascinating reading for qualitative researchers and students taking qualitative research courses, across the social sciences, education, and behavioural sciences.

Book excerpt: Watching. Watching. Always watching. Since her beloved husband passed away, all seventy-two-year-old Hazel has are her memories, the radio news and the view from her window - across the beautiful, leafy suburb ... and directly into her neighbours' lives. Just what is Alan doing digging in the garden? And where is Carol, his wife? She has witnessed his violence, through the window, and now she fears for Carol's life. But Hazel is an old lady, and she knows that things aren't quite right with her mind. Her memory is failing her, and when she receives a note from her dead husband, accusing her of murdering him, she begins to wonder if she is also losing her grip on reality. Hazel's discoveries, as she tries to make sense of things, force her to face not only the uncomfortable truth about her neighbours and the violent consequences of her interference but also the twisted, bloody truth about her own past.

Download or read book China written by Alan Wall and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2004-06 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digby Walton was once the heir to an English pottery company. Now in old age he contemplates the history of that company as he reflects upon the modern world. His own heir, his son Theo, would rather ignore history completely and lose himself in smoky jazz clubs with his trumpet. Theo wants to live entirely inside the perfection of songs, but will reality let him? Meanwhile Digby's next-door neighbor, Daisy Gresham, famed as one of the great film beauties of her day, seeks her own elusive son, who is perilously engaged in the international anarchist movement. Alan Wall's novel weaves back and forth between the present and the twentieth century that formed it, its wars and industries, industries that once propelled an empire but now appear in permanent decline, asking constantly what art contributes to life and whether life can ever survive for long without it. In the tradition of Louis Begley and John Updike, China is a novel about life and looking back.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surviving motherhood? It's all about having the right support network. Lawyer Cassie has a new baby, a husband who converses mainly through jokes, a best friend on the other side of the world, and a taskforce of Babycraft mums who make her feel she has about as much maternal aptitude as a jellyfish. Husband Jonathan dismisses Cassie's maternal anxieties, but is he really paying attention to his struggling wife? He's started sleep talking and it seems there's more on his mind than he's letting on. Then sexy, swaggering ex-boyfriend Malkie saunters into Cassie's life again. Unlike Jonathan, he 'gets' her. He'd like to get her into bed again, too... And on top of all her emotional turmoil, she also finds herself advising a funeral director on ghost protocol and becomes involved in an act of hotel spa fraud, never mind hiding cans of wasp spray all over the house to deal with the stalker who seems to be lurking everywhere she looks. Marriage and motherhood isn't the fairytale Cassie thought it would be. Will her strange new world fall apart around her or will tiny acts of love be enough to get her through? Funny, perceptive and real, Tiny Acts of Love portrays the rawness of motherhood, the flipside of love and the powerful lure of paths not taken.
