Book excerpt: Language is one of the wonderful gifts given by God to humanity with the help of language that human being is able to communicate and solve a number of problems and has been able to make a lot of achievements in life. Language plays an important role for the transaction of these elements between the teacher and the taught According to Ravel (2006) “In school curriculum language plays vital role. Language as a vehicle of communication is very crucial on the whole process of education. It is through language that everything is taught and learnt in a majority of teaching learning including the classroom.” If there has been no language, it would have been difficult to communicate the views to follow human beings. Any branch of knowledge cannot be pursued without properly using and understanding language.

Book Walking from Dandi

Download or read book Walking from Dandi written by Harmony Siganporia and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022-05-30 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In February 2019, Harmony Siganporia walked from Dandi to Ahmedabad, retracing the route of Gandhi's Salt March in reverse. She walked this route of just under 400 kilometres over 25 days, much as Gandhi and the original band of Marchers did in 1930. The 'Dandi Path' is the setting against which she explores the story of modern Gujarat, tracing the contours of the state's seismic shift towards espousing the narrative of vikas, abandoning in the process the possibility of a quest for swaraj. Gujarat has been described as the laboratory of Hindutva, and this book is an effort to explore this theme, even as it attempts to unearth whether there remain any competing epistemes to it; memories of the region's prior avatar as the setting against which Gandhi put into practice his experiments with truth, non-violent civil disobedience, and satyagraha. This project investigates what--if anything--remains of the Salt March in Gujarat's cultural memory, while also attempting to fill out the contours of the 'single story' of vikas with which the State has become so closely associated.

Book excerpt: Sustainable livelihood security of resource poor farmers is the top priority for the nation today. However, there is wide gap in productivity of various horticultural commodities among different eco-regions, where horticulture can play significant role particularly in arid and semi arid regions, it is far below than the potential productivity. Hence, sustained and steady growth in rural income is critical for positive impact on living standard of various stakeholders. Therefore, an appropriate strategy needs to be devised for such climatically vulnerable regions. The net income of farmers can surely be increased by efficient management of nutrient, water and agri-input, integrated horticulture based farming system, better market price realization, post harvest management and value addition, integration of secondary enterprises and thereby improving productivity of arid and semi-arid horticultural crops. In this book, several such interventions are given in the form of various chapters which will be of immense use improving the productivity and profitability of horticultural commodities.
