Book Bosque Bonito

Download or read book Bosque Bonito written by Robert Keil and published by Occasional Papers. This book was released on 2002 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bosque Bonito is a first-hand account written by Robert "Bob" Keil, a US cavalryman stationed in the Big Bend during the violent years of the Mexican Revolution. From 1913 to 1918, Keil lived in the borderlands along the Rio Grande in the wild and primitive Big Bend country of West Texas. He was living the life he had longed for, and he himself said later that his years in the Big Bend were the happiest and wildest years of his life. But they were also years of violence, and he would remain haunted throughout his life by the tragedies he had witnessed. The beauty and tragedy of Keil's river experience were powerfully impressed upon him, and continued to captivate him as time and again he wrote the story. - Back cover.

Book excerpt: In Brazil nothing is more important than football. If England is the birthplace of football then Brazil – the five-time World Cup winners and home of Pelé, Romário, Ronaldo, Neymar and the rest – is the heart and soul of the game. Jogo Bonito – meaning ‘the beautiful game’ – takes you on a journey through the Wild West of Brazilian football. On the way we meet an eclectic cast of characters, such as Mario Zagallo, the four-time World Cup winner; the long, lost son of Garrincha; Brazil’s best-loved bad boy player turned politician, Romário; and many more. We take a trip to an away game with the country’s most violent hooligans, visit the home of the world’s largest amateur football tournament and enjoy a boozy dinner with South America’s most famous commentator – he of ‘goooooooool’ fame. Jogo Bonito is a history, a travelogue and a gonzo-style report into a country which has the sixth biggest economy in the world and yet questionable records on education, healthcare and corruption. The result is a book that not only tells the story of Brazilian football, but also of today’s Brazil.

This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 1117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The necessity of prediction and fine control in the food manufacturing process is becoming more important than ever before, and food researchers and engineers must confront difficulties arising from the specificity of food materials and the sensitivity of human beings to taste. Fortunately, an overview of world research reveals that the mechanisms of the many complex phenomena found in the food manufacturing process have been gradually elucidated by skilful experiments using new analytical tools, methods and theoretical analyses. This book, the proceedings of the 6th International Congress on Engineering and Food (ICEF6), held for the first time in Asia - in Chiba, Japan May 23 -27, 1993 - summarizes the frontiers of world food engineering in 1993. Congress was joined by the 4th International Conference on Fouling and Cleaning. There were 476 active members from 31 countries participating in the Congress. The editors hope that readers will find this book to be a useful review of the current state of food engineering, and will consider future developments in this research field. The editors extend thanks to the members of the organizing committee of ICEF6, and the advisors, Dr. Ryozo Toei, Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University and Dr. Masao Fujimaki, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo. They also acknowledge the international advisory board members who helped the organizing committee in many ways, and the 10 foundations and 66 companies that financially supported the ICEF6. Finally, the editors are indebted to the reviewers of the manuscripts of these proceedings.
