Book excerpt: A poetic story rhyme that is a compilation of scripted youthful times. Within these pages is a shard from a greater story that chronicles the legacy of characters meant for the entertainment, each individually purposed for a grand design. And as the wheels of fate turn, each character will play their part, unable to understand the greater role they partake in within the great theatrics of the world play. Each figure within this are pulled from historical sources, past and present, with subtle liberties to flesh out the true nature of their character. So as disparate destined paths cross into the other and intersect, the fiery ambition they posses will become their sword while the purity of their immortal soul will become their shield, individually designed to protect a sincere dream, while defending their outer shell from being torn away from this mortal coil. And as each soul delves beyond the grip of the unfamiliar of their opening acts, a threshold would demand to be crossed as they individually, with warm hearts and open minds, yearn for meaning, as they individually await a glimpse of their true purpose, escaping the confines of ephemeral restraints to push to a space that exists beyond sight.

Book Blue Eclipse and Other Stories

Download or read book Blue Eclipse and Other Stories written by Kakanadan and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2018-12-25 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blue Eclipse is a collection of fourteen stories spanning George Varghese Kakanadan's career that let us catch a glimpse of the brilliance of one of the flagbearers of modernist Malayalam literature. If 'Blue Eclipse' is an untrammelled exploration of surreal ideas, 'Timeworn' is a simple tale of nostalgia that takes shape on a retired school teacher's last day of life. Through an artist torn between his search for enlightenment and the magic of his model's physical beauty, 'Sreechakram' reflects on the Hindu philosophies of dualism and non-duality, while 'Madness' and 'Sunshine' talk about sex and the power of women in completely different circumstances. At once powerful and beautiful, morose and terrifying, liberating and suffocating, this is a collection to savour.

Download or read book Ecospatiality written by Lowell Wyse and published by University of Iowa Press. This book was released on 2021-07-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ecospatiality explores modern and contemporary American prose literature through the lens of place, showing how authors like William Least Heat-Moon, Willa Cather, Richard Wright, and Leslie Marmon Silko represent and reimagine real places in the world and the human-environment relationships therein. Building on the work of scholars in geography, sociology, ecocriticism, and geocriticism, this book articulates the theory of ecospatiality: an understanding of place as simultaneously spatial, ecological, and historical. In our current historical moment, which is characterized by ongoing ecological collapse and a not-unrelated increase in social disorder, few issues are more urgent than the human relationship with our environments. Whether we characterize this new epoch as the climate change era or the Anthropocene, we can no longer ignore the fact that the places we live are rapidly changing in response to economic and environmental pressures. Rather than thinking of place as a neutral site for social interaction, we should recognize how it underpins and intertwines with human experience. Fortunately, literature can help us think through how place operates. Lowell Wyse shows that texts can be understood as works of literary cartography. Focusing on works of nonfiction and fiction whose primary settings are on the North American continent, Ecospatiality demonstrates how these narratives rely on realistic literary geography to invoke, and sometimes retell, important aspects of environmental history within particular communities and bioregions.
