Book Passing the Generation Blessing

Download or read book Passing the Generation Blessing written by Kenneth C. Ulmer and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2018-09-18 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God has given you the responsibility to pass your faith to the next generation. When you speak to your children about God, pray for them, and encourage them on their spiritual journey, you prepare them to live a life of enduring faith and blessings. "In our walk with God, the passing of the blessings is not a suggestion," writes author Bishop Kenneth Ulmer. "It's a command, a mandate to those who have been blessed. And the blessing is not only to be passed to your children, but also to your children's children." It is more important than ever to train up new followers of Christ. Though sin has become an accepted part of our culture, it is possible to break the cycle of sin passed down from previous generations and replace it with blessings. "If you want to have a positive impact," says Bishop Ulmer, "tell the story." Passing the Generation Blessing offers practical and powerful ways to speak blessings over your family so all can hear.

Book The Good Shepherd Gentle Guide and Gracious Host

Download or read book The Good Shepherd Gentle Guide and Gracious Host written by Patrick Allen and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-03-19 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Good Shepherd, Gentle Guide, and Gracious Host is a collection of fifteen discipleship meditations, organized around three metaphors from the Twenty-Third Psalm. Why does the Twenty-Third Psalm connect so profoundly with the human spirit, whether we are grieving, hoping, or suffering? The answer has much to do with the approachable, inviting metaphors for God that are expressed in this psalm—the good shepherd, the gentle guide, and the gracious host, as well as the full range of human emotions that rise up within us when we read them. Each chapter contains a powerful personal story told by one of the Northwest’s best storytellers, an inviting meditation from a line of the psalm, the wisdom of Scripture, some words of practical advice, and questions for reflection and discussion. Suited for personal devotions or small discipleship groups, The Good Shepherd, Gentle Guide, and Gracious Host invites all of us to an adventure of grace, healing, and hope, seeing God as approachable, good, loving, and kind. As our understanding of God’s love and care matures, our spiritual journeys will take on a new character, too. This book will highlight the path ahead, providing fence posts, guide posts, and lamp posts as we make our way home.

Book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 43

Download or read book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 43 written by Spurgeon, Charles H. and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on with total page 957 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 43 Sermons 2498-2549 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to publish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Book Broken for the Blessing

  • Author : Minister Paul Hillman

  • Release : 2021-04-09
  • ISBN : 166415969X
  • Pages : 79 pages

Download or read book Broken for the Blessing written by Minister Paul Hillman and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-04-09 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “For his anger endureth but for a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” (Ps. 30:5, KJV). So is Broken for a Blessing: It is from a weeping night to a joyful morning—from brokenness to restoration. At some point, one will face some kind of turmoil, storm, or darkness. However, each of these can also be seen as a developing process. Like bread when it is broken: whenever a bread is broken: it meant, someone is getting ready to eat. This is the same from hurting to healing. God breaks you to heal you or turn you into a better person. This is what Broken for a Blessing is about. In this book, the author wrote ten chapters as he considers the number 10 to be significant. He talks about events that were written about in the Bible and uses the number as a metaphor of one’s destiny. He also uses the number 10 as a metaphor in his own life journey. When he was ten years old, he played a game called the ten steps to Zion. In the game, each of the competitors would hold a Bible. The judge would say “Sword in hand” and then give the competitors a Bible verse, and whoever found it first would take a step. The game would end when a player reached the tenth bench. The author would always be the one who would reach the tenth bench first. In addition, the author started his life in the United States with ten dollars; he actually started with a hundred dollars, but he used ninety dollars of that amount just to pay his rent. He was married for ten years before he suffered a broken marriage. It was during his time of brokenness and isolation when God revealed the book in his spirit, Broken for a Blessing. This book will inspire you and will let you know that there’s hope and a purpose for you. You should not get bitter when you are broken; rather, you should understand that you are going through to make yourself better. Whatever comes to break you should be seen as something that is coming to make you. There’s a process in the making and a process in becoming. This is not the time for you to break down; it’s the time for you to break through.
