This book was released on 2018-04-27 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Elizabeth Canori Mora was born in 1774, in Rome. Raised in a devout but poor household, she was given an excellent education by religious sisters. Her life changed dramatically when she was married to Christopher Mora, a local lawyer and son of a famous doctor. The marriage began happy but turned sour as her husband changed from becoming possessive of her to the point of preventing her communication with her relatives, to abandoning her and taking up a mistress. Yet Elizabeth turned to God and prayed for his conversion, taking solace in her two surviving daughters and raising them in the faith. The story of Elizabeth Canori Mora is one both familiar, and unique. The story of a wronged wife, celebrated on her wedding day but whom we ought rather to mourn for if we could foresee the great sufferings she will undergo in wedlock; and unique in that her heroic virtue, fidelity and love excels that of so many that end up in this all too familiar state. For her fidelity and love of Christ, Elizabeth received many revelations from God, and merited that her husband would turn from his wicked ways and become again devout-to the point that after her death he became a Franciscan cleric. In this work, you will discover what you rarely see in so many lives of monks, abbots and missionaries, a married saint, a wife who should be the patron of wronged and long-suffering wives. The reprinted work of Mary Elizabeth Herbert has been revised for modern English and has pictures added for the benefit of the reader, with new typesetting in an easy to read font.

Excerpt: ... easily understand that after such precious favours, Elizabeth should become indefatigable, as it were, in showing to the Blessed Virgin her devotion and her love. Every day she recited, as a double tribute, the Rosary and the Little Office. She inculcated in her daughters the same habit, and they made these prayers together. She incessantly invoked her by ejaculatory prayers burning with love. On the Eves of her Feasts she fasted rigorously on bread and water. She sanctified the Novenas and Octaves by numberless mortifications and frequent penances. She then said with her daughters the following prayer: "I rejoice with you, O Blessed Virgin Mary, for the remarkable honour which Our Lord has bestowed upon you in this mystery" (for example, of the Assumption, the Annunciation, etc.). "I return most hearty thanks to the Blessed Trinity, and I unite my gratitude to that of the blessed souls in Paradise." She added five times the Gloria Pain, inclining her head each time, and then kissing the ground. She repeated this prayer ten times. Elizabeth had also a tender devotion to S. Michael, and received great favours from him. On one of his Feasts she had the happiness to be transported in spirit into the regions of Glory. She saw the illustrious rank which he occupied near the throne of the Blessed Trinity, and she was a witness of the homage paid him by the whole host of Heaven. Once she perceived her Guardian Angel among the Heavenly Spirits. He surpassed all the others in beauty and in glory, for he was one of those whose place was nearest to the throne of the Divine Majesty. She diligently applied herself to honour S. Joseph, the glorious Spouse of the Blessed Virgin, and S. John the Baptist, the Divine Precursor. She once made the exercises...

Some speculated that the Three Days of Darkness may be near or that Antichrist was already on earth. Yves DUpont assembled many prophecies, including some that refer to a comet striking the earth. With Comet Kahoutek in 1972, many thought this might be the one, but it wasn't. With the deterioration of morals in the world many believe that these prophetic days may be close.

Book How Saints Die

Download or read book How Saints Die written by Antonio Maria Sicari and published by . This book was released on 2021-09-15 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Italian Carmelite Antonio Maria Sicari''s vibrant biographies of saints--from Augustine to Catherine of Siena to Faustina Kowalska--have been read across Europe for decades. In How Saints Die, Sicari turns to the most difficult challenge in the life of a Christian: the hour of death. What he uncovers in this darkest moment, however, is not desolation, but inexplicable joy. I have recounted the death of many saints, he writes, but all of them have confirmed for me the truth of this ancient Christian intuition: in the death of a saint, it is death that dies! With in-depth research and a flair for storytelling, Sicari brings before our eyes the gracious last hours of one hundred men and women--lovers and martyrs, thinkers and workers, ancients and moderns, old men and teens. Included are Kateri Tekakwitha, Maximilian Kolbe, Mother Teresa, Thomas Aquinas, Josephine Bakhita, Jérôme Lejeune, Clare of Assisi, and many more. In each, a new shade of the divine light shines through. Those seeking insight into the mystery of death and suffering will find in this book not only wisdom, but rich and realistic consolation. Divided into brief, readable chapters organized by theme, the collection offers at every bend another fine-grained snapshot of a Christian fully alive.
