Book Modeling Human Behavior With Integrated Cognitive Architectures

Download or read book Modeling Human Behavior With Integrated Cognitive Architectures written by Kevin A. Gluck and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2006-04-21 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Resulting from the need for greater realism in models of human and organizational behavior in military simulations, there has been increased interest in research on integrative models of human performance, both within the cognitive science community generally, and within the defense and aerospace industries in particular. This book documents accomplishments and lessons learned in a multi-year project to examine the ability of a range of integrated cognitive modeling architectures to explain and predict human behavior in a common task environment that requires multi-tasking and concept learning. This unique project, called the Agent-Based Modeling and Behavior Representation (AMBR) Model Comparison, involved a series of human performance model evaluations in which the processes and performance levels of computational cognitive models were compared to each other and to human operators performing the identical tasks. In addition to quantitative data comparing the performance of the models and real human performance, the book also presents a qualitatively oriented discussion of the practical and scientific considerations that arise in the course of attempting this kind of model development and validation effort. The primary audiences for this book are people in academia, industry, and the military who are interested in explaining and predicting complex human behavior using computational cognitive modeling approaches. The book should be of particular interest to individuals in any sector working in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Engineering, System Engineering, Human Factors, Ergonomics and Operations Research. Any technically or scientifically oriented professional or student should find the material fully accessible without extensive mathematical background.

Book The Mathematics Practitioner s Guidebook for Collaborative Lesson Research

Download or read book The Mathematics Practitioner s Guidebook for Collaborative Lesson Research written by Akihiko Takahashi and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-10-02 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This resource provides mathematics educators with tools for conducting Collaborative Lesson Research (CLR), a form of Lesson Study developed out of the original Japanese Lesson Study and intended to improve student and teacher learning. Renowned mathematics education researchers Akihiko Takahashi and Geoffrey Wake bring together educators across the US and UK with first-hand experience using CLR in their schools. Readers will learn the essentials for an impactful Lesson Study directly from the scholars who coined the term, and benefit from the dual perspectives of math education researchers and teachers who have used CLR when reflecting on their own classroom pedagogy. These contributors define CLR and provide examples of successful CLR using real-life case studies, as well as introducing pathways for getting started and practical suggestions for implementation into different school environments. Across these examples, readers will: understand the essence of Lesson Study, considered as CLR, and its important features be advised what participants in CLR should expect to do (observing research lessons, designing lessons, teaching research lessons, facilitating post-lesson discussion, etc.) and provide guidance and support with this enactment be advised on how to develop, embed, and sustain CLR communities preview potential outcomes over time from undertaking CLR Research lesson proposals and plans to support readers in understanding CLR are also included. Ideal for practicing teachers, teacher leaders, teacher educators, and professional developers involved in mathematics teaching, this book offers first-of-its-kind entry points for CLR. Its combination of theory and practice will empower educators to implement this increasingly popular vehicle for understanding students’ learning of mathematics.

Book Artificial Intelligence Automated Reasoning and Symbolic Computation

Download or read book Artificial Intelligence Automated Reasoning and Symbolic Computation written by Jacques Calmet and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-08-02 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AISC 2002, the 6th international conference on Arti?cial Intelligence and S- bolic Computation, and Calculemus 2002, the 10th symposium on the Integ- tion of Symbolic Computation and Mechanized Reasoning, were held jointly in Marseille, France on July 1-5, 2002. This event was organized by the three universities in Marseille together with the LSIS (Laboratoire des Sciences de l'Information et des Syst` emes). AISC 2002 was the latest in a series of specialized conferences founded by John Campbell and Jacques Calmet with the initial title "Arti?cial Intelligence and Symbolic Mathematical Computation" (AISMC) and later denoted "Art- cial Intelligence and Symbolic Computation" (AISC). The scope is well de?ned by its successive titles. AISMC-1 (1992), AISMC-2 (1994), AISMC-3 (1996), AISC'98, and AISC 2000 took place in Karlsruhe, Cambridge, Steyr, Plattsburgh (NY), and Madrid respectively. The proceedings were published by Springer-Verlag as LNCS 737, LNCS 958, LNCS 1138, LNAI 1476, and LNAI 1930 respectively. Calculemus 2002 was the 10th symposium in a series which started with three meetings in 1996, two meetings in 1997, and then turned into a yearly event in 1998. Since then, it has become a tradition to hold the meeting jointly with an event in either symbolic computation or automated deduction. Both events share common interests in looking at Symbolic Computation, each from a di?erent point of view: Arti?cial Intelligence in the more general case of AISC and Automated Deduction in the more speci?c case of Calculemus.

Book Multisensor Fusion

    Book Details:
  • Author : Anthony K. Hyder
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2002-07-31
  • ISBN : 9781402007224
  • Pages : 968 pages

Download or read book Multisensor Fusion written by Anthony K. Hyder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002-07-31 with total page 968 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For some time, all branches of the military have used a wide range of sensors to provide data for many purposes, including surveillance, reconnoitring, target detection and battle damage assessment. Many nations have also attempted to utilise these sensors for civilian applications, such as crop monitoring, agricultural disease tracking, environmental diagnostics, cartography, ocean temperature profiling, urban planning, and the characterisation of the Ozone Hole above Antarctica. The recent convergence of several important technologies has made possible new, advanced, high performance, sensor based applications relying on the near-simultaneous fusion of data from an ensemble of different types of sensors. The book examines the underlying principles of sensor operation and data fusion, the techniques and technologies that enable the process, including the operation of 'fusion engines'. Fundamental theory and the enabling technologies of data fusion are presented in a systematic and accessible manner. Applications are discussed in the areas of medicine, meteorology, BDA and targeting, transportation, cartography, the environment, agriculture, and manufacturing and process control.
