Download or read book Corrosion in Systems for Storage and Transportation of Petroleum Products and Biofuels written by Alec Groysman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-02-17 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book treats corrosion as it occurs and affects processes in real-world situations, and thus points the way to practical solutions. Topics described include the conditions in which petroleum products are corrosive to metals; corrosion mechanisms of petroleum products; which parts of storage tanks containing crude oils and petroleum products undergo corrosion; dependence of corrosion in tanks on type of petroleum products; aggressiveness of petroleum products to polymeric material; how microorganisms take part in corrosion of tanks and pipes containing petroleum products; which corrosion monitoring methods are used in systems for storage and transportation of petroleum products; what corrosion control measures should be chosen; how to choose coatings for inner and outer surfaces of tanks containing petroleum products; and how different additives (oxygenates, aromatic solvents) to petroleum products and biofuels influence metallic and polymeric materials. The book is of interest to corrosion engineers, materials engineers, oil and gas engineers, petroleum engineers, chemists, chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, failure analysts, scientists, and students, designers of tanks, pipelines and other systems for storage and transportation fuels, technicians. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was intended to return with the International Gothenburg Symposia every other time to the birthplace of these events, Gothenburg in Sweden. But instead the 8th symposium has been invited to be organized and held in Prague, i. e. in the midst of Central and Eastern Europe a region now keen on intensified environmental control. This attests that the symposia have attained such standing in the interna tional world of operators, designers, officers and researchers in water treatment technology that their presence in various parts of the world has been requested. And this ever growing significance, in short the success of this conference series, stems form the fact that the symposia offer a unique platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences on all aspects of water and wastewater treatment between administrators, engineers and scientists. The content of this book, i. e. the schedule of the symposium lectures, results for the most part from a vast response to an international call for papers. Many excellent contributions are included in this volume but at the same time many outstanding ones could not be included for lack of time and space. The total sum of these contributions document again the development in the field, both in terms of new technological (and other) developments as well as public and administrative acceptance and approval of solutions offered.

Download or read book Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines for Diethyelene Glycol and Triethylene Glycol written by Alberta. Alberta Environment and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Glycols have a wide range of uses including chemical feedstocks, solvents, and antifreeze. In addition, glycols are used in the dehydration of natural gas streams. The three glycols originally considered for soil and groundwater remediation guideline development were diethylene glycol (DEG), triethylene glycol (TEG), and tetraethylene glycol (TREG). This document develops proposed soil and groundwater remediation guidelines for DEG and TEG consistent with the Alberta Environment protocol. Due to the lack of published toxicological information on TREG, and the fact that the use of this compound in glycol dehydration units is uncommon, only DEG and TEG were carried forward to the guideline development stage. The limited background data that were found concerning TREG are retained in this document for completeness. Appendices A, B and C provide degradation and toxicological data specific to each of the three compounds.--Document.
