Book excerpt: The Oregon Bigfoot Highway A travel book celebrating adventure and history along Oregon's National Scenic Byway No. 5 The Oregon Bigfoot Highway (The OBH) is a collection of 31 Bigfoot sighting reports, 43 Bigfoot track finds, and 69 Bigfoot related incidents in the wild forest of the upper Clackamas and Breitenbush Rivers. With sightings beginning in 1924 and track finds back to 1911, the 352 pages offer plenty of action and suspense. Published by Willamette City Press, LLC the OBH contains 118 b&w photographs, 13 custom drawn maps, plentiful non-Bigfoot history, and nine detailed appendices. Available now in soft cover. A full-color eBook edition will soon be available via Kindle Books. The OBH either begins or ends at the Oregon mountain towns of Estacada or Detroit, each only about an hour's drive from Portland or Salem. For 15 years, authors Joe Beelart and Cliff Olson and a loosely knit group of adventurers branded the Clackamas Sasquatchians have scouted the area and gathered seemingly genuine accounts relating to Bigfoot from persons of diverse professions from loggers to lawyers. The compelling quality and similarity of these reports caused the authors to conclude that this is, indeed, The Oregon Bigfoot Highway. Travelers and explorers alike will find the 70 miles of The OBH, which coincides with the National Scenic Byway No. 5, to be a journey through ancient forests and regal mountains capped in the south by majestic Mt. Jefferson. Embedded in the area are five national wilderness areas collectively designated the Clackamas Wilderness. It also includes two reaches of National Wild and Scenic Rivers. There is little doubt this mountain highway is among the most beautiful in the nation and is a likely home for Our Barefoot Friends. So, find your imagination, open your mind, sit back and enjoy this remarkable book!

Book Mid Sierra Musings

Download or read book Mid Sierra Musings written by Dale Matson and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-10 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I began a blog called "Mid Sierra Musings”. It is mostly about my experiences in the central Sierras. There currently seems to be a vicarious thirst and large viewership for things related to self-sufficiency, wilderness living. There are 'reality series' programs like “Alaska The Last Frontier” and “Mountain Men”.I have the best of both worlds since I have all the conveniences of city living with quick access to the Sierra National Forest and both Sequoia/Kings Canyon (SeKi) and Yosemite an hour away. I can mow my lawn in the morning and be above 7,000' skiing an hour and a half later. There has been considerable interest in the photo essays I have posted on the blog and I decided to combine them in paperback book and Kindle formats. While I am not the stature of a John Muir, my intentions are similar. I want to introduce you to what is there for you to think about, to see, smell, hear and share with others. Even if it is not possible for you to get into the wilderness, it is an opportunity to see it through the eyes of an eye witness. May you be both edified and entertained.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Join the Bluff Creek Project on a modern day quest for the lost film site where the image of Bigfoot was forever immortalized in celluloid. On October 20th., 1967, two cowboys filmed an apparent "Bigfoot" creature walking away along a sandbar in a remote canyon along Bluff Creek in the wilds of Northern California. By the 1990's the film site had been lost to public knowledge and reclaimed by dense regrowth. During the prestigious 2003 International Bigfoot Symposium in nearby Willow Creek, none of the supposed experts could agree on the exact location of the once famous encounter. Doubt lurked behind the numerous assertions as nature and time attempted to erase history. Six years on, two people sought facts to solve this puzzling mystery. They found a videographer who became a partner, and a year later "The Bluff Creek Film Site Project" was born. They searched out all the old stories and met many patriarchs who were once there. But the needed landmarks and artifacts, seen clearly in the old film and research photographs, remained well hidden. Many cherished theories or bits of wisdom had to be discarded. Numerous facts were found; and they began to add up. The members of the group lived nearby, so they had a unique opportunity to conduct local historical studies on site, and to explore the whole watershed intimately. Come join us on this great adventure. Whether this Bigfoot film, shot by roger Patterson, shows one of the greatest mysteries in the world... or was the hoax of the century, the rediscovery of the Patterson-Gimlin film site stands on its own as a grand and fascinating journey.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the most ancient time of human existence, stories of strange man-animals have been passed down in legends and myth. These stories have been told in all parts of the world, and are remarkably similar. How could such stories be created, and why? Could the collective unconscious memory of humanity hold within it lurking shadows of creatures we once knew? Creatures that today exist only as legend and myth-could there be more-is there more? Fossil records firmly establish that once there did exist a giant ape-like creature called Gigantopithecus. Scientists have determined that this ape-like creature was between 10 and 12 feet in height and weighed approximately 1,200 pounds. This creature actually did exist, but no one really knows much more about about it other than its weight and height, and no one knows anything about its behavioral characteristics. Could it have been the ancestor to the Sasquatch of today? no one really knows-nor does it matter. The simple fact that such creatures did exist at one time makes the possibility of ape-like giants existing today real. "Notes From the Field, Tracking North America's Sasquatch" is a study into this issue, it covers ancient descriptions from different parts of the wotld and tracks this creature to modern times and discusses recent field discoveries.
