Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An engaging visual survey of Scripture's main lessons, this Bible companion makes Scripture accessible and memorable for students, laypeople, and anyone curious to know more about God's Word—and have it stick. Saint Augustine once referred to the Bible—this ancient collection of sacred documents—as our "letters from home." If Scripture feels daunting to you in some way. If its pages seem inhospitable. If the Bible isn't the kind of book you're likely to have on your coffee table, accessible to all who enter your home—than this resource may be your key to unlocking the true approachability of the Bible. Much human understanding occurs visually. When it comes to quickly grasping and retaining information, the human brain functions best with a combination of words and pictures. The Most Significant Teachings in the Bible is designed to visually communicate the wisdom of the Bible in an informative and understandable way. Organized into nine major themes that link biblical frameworks to everyday life--such as "Getting to Know God" and "Struggles and Suffering"—this appealing Bible companion brings to vivid clarity the overarching message of Scripture. Inside you'll find: At-a-glance snapshots or infographics of biblical themes and Bible verses. Life application call-out boxes for easy reference. Easy-to-read written summaries of biblical topics and chapters. Useful lists, charts, and other visual aids. God's Word deserves our attention. After all, it's the greatest power on earth. But that doesn't mean it has to be a chore to read and understand. Because, as intimidating as it is, the Bible is our great "letter from home," God's words to us, everything he needs us to know about himself. The Most Significant Teachings in the Bible is your gateway to a greater understanding and appreciation for those words.

Download or read book The Teaching Learning Process Undergirded by Biblical Teachings written by Dr. Constance B. Nealey and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-02-09 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Educators have a moral as well as a professional responsibility to address the needs of persons entrusted in their care. That moral responsibility involves (1) acknowledging one’s Christian conscience which is non-negotiable; (2) respecting the Christian conscience of others while taking seriously the educational needs of students; and (3) maintaining relationships with varied stakeholders to the extent that they are cognizant of their overall responsibilities to the children and young adults served. My goal in this book is to share strategies for achieving and maintaining improved student achievement. Recognition of the magnitude of all the variables, which lie therein, led to the formulation of the text, The Teaching/Learning Process Undergirded by Biblical Teachings. Through this synergy of effort, combined with elements of spirituality, we shall experience noticeable changes in attitudes, pedagogy, and teacher/student expectations. Biblical quotations contained herein are from the King James Version. Because of the dismal educational circumstances facing our nation, it is imperative that leaders in the school system, teachers, parents, community and governmental leaders, and prospective teachers seek to develop a spirit of excellence in our educational institutions. Each of us has a responsibility to God, to those whom we serve, and to ourselves to safeguard our schools. Where do we go for help? We go to the scriptures, one of which is Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding.” Where do we start? We begin with faith, hope, and love. We must have faith in God, faith in ourselves, and faith in our children. There must be a firm hope in what will come tomorrow. Tomorrow comes with positive rewards when there are scriptural acknowledgements. Finally, love places quality into service. When one has love, his/her words and actions are magnified. Love lasts, and what it does will last. Love is the greatest gift and has the greatest rewards because “God is love (l John 4:8).” The thesis of the proposed textbook is that the teaching/learning process is effective when undergirded by scriptural principles. Stated succinctly, the thesis posits that we should teach and learn the Bible way. Certainly, such actions assure positive rewards.

Download or read book Maps of Meaning written by Jordan B. Peterson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2002-09-11 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why have people from different cultures and eras formulated myths and stories with similar structures? What does this similarity tell us about the mind, morality, and structure of the world itself? From the author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos comes a provocative hypothesis that explores the connection between what modern neuropsychology tells us about the brain and what rituals, myths, and religious stories have long narrated. A cutting-edge work that brings together neuropsychology, cognitive science, and Freudian and Jungian approaches to mythology and narrative, Maps ofMeaning presents a rich theory that makes the wisdom and meaning of myth accessible to the critical modern mind.
