Download or read book Beyond the Ishtar Gate written by Joshua Free and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2011-12-01 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the author's widely successful "Mardukite Year-3" series of works culminating an in-depth examination of Mesopotamian Magic, Sumerian Sorcery and the Dark Arts of Babylon, Joshua Free's "Beyond the Ishtar Gate" (Liber-C) completes the trilogy launched from "Magan Magic" (Liber-E) and "Maqlu Magic" (Liber-M); simultaneously released by the Mardukite Chamberlains as the "Necronomicon Spellbook" trilogy series. BEYOND THE ISHTAR GATE (also released as "Necronomicon Spellbook III") is concerned with the 'other side' of the tradition, parts that have been concealed and yet also what made the tradition famous - mainly, the connection to the "Other," that which we have been programmed to perceive as 'separate' from this reality. By whatever names it has been given, the part of this 'advanced', 'esoteric' or 'inner circle' work connected directly to the "Other," in whatever tradition it is realized from, is the highest part of the 'Great Work' - that which all the rest seemingly culminates into or points toward. It has been considered 'divine communication' by some and 'trafficking with the devil' to others - but regardless of the view taken, the knowledge and experience of these crossings is never held without some regard, for better or worse. "Liber-C" also contains the unpublished conclusion to Series-U and Series-V tablet cycles not found in the "Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible" anthology.
Download or read book Judeans in Babylonia written by Tero Alstola and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-12-16 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Judeans in Babylonia, Tero Alstola presents a comprehensive investigation of deportees in the sixth and fifth centuries BCE. By using cuneiform documents as his sources, he offers the first book-length social historical study of the Babylonian Exile, commonly regarded as a pivotal period in the development of Judaism. The results are considered in the light of the wider Babylonian society and contrasted against a comparison group of Neirabian deportees. Studying texts from the cities and countryside and tracking developments over time, Alstola shows that there was notable diversity in the Judeans’ socio-economic status and integration into Babylonian society.

Download or read book Occult Roots of Religious Studies written by Yves Mühlematter and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-06-08 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The historiographers of religious studies have written the history of this discipline primarily as a rationalization of ideological, most prominently theological and phenomenological ideas: first through the establishment of comparative, philological and sociological methods and secondly through the demand for intentional neutrality. This interpretation caused important roots in occult-esoteric traditions to be repressed. This process of “purification” (Latour) is not to be equated with the origin of the academic studies. De facto, the elimination of idealistic theories took time and only happened later. One example concerning the early entanglement is Tibetology, where many researchers and respected chair holders were influenced by theosophical ideas or were even members of the Theosophical Society. Similarly, the emergence of comparatistics cannot be understood without taking into account perennialist ideas of esoteric provenance, which hold that all religions have a common origin. In this perspective, it is not only the history of religious studies which must be revisited, but also the partial shaping of religious studies by these traditions, insofar as it saw itself as a counter-model to occult ideas.
Download or read book The Garden of Eden and Beyond written by Don Legler and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-04 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you wondered about life after the events in the Book of Genesis took place? Are you interested in the early church and its growth? Do you like quests and intriguing plots? If so, The Garden Of Eden And Beyond is the book for you. Noah, Abram and others listened and responded when God spoke. Key elements of life B.C.E. shift to a drama on the world stage in 1000 A.D. as a contentious world emerges from the "Dark Ages." Sten, the shepherd son of a Viking father and an Arabic mother, finds an altarpiece that facilitates relationships with the Lord. Sten is forced to become a warrior in the Caliph's army; but he and his wife, Janna, become Christians and guiding lights in molding a better world. God's plan leads them to become role models in adventures through Byzantium, Mesopotamia, Norway, England, and the New World. This novel moves through time and space and, although fictitious, is replete with historical facts. Don Legler spent ten years as a Methodist minister serving small rural churches in Florida. With a M.Div. degree from Emory University and a M.Th. degree from Garrett Seminary, he authored over 500 sermons. Holding B.S., D.D.S., and Ph.D. degrees, Don had a professional career in dental education and research with over fifty professional and scientific publications. His travels and observations in Norway, Sweden, and Iraq provided the stimulus for writing this novel. He observed the roles these countries played in the spread of Christianity throughout history and was impressed to still see remnants of Christian churches among the ruins of ancient Babylon and Ur. Thus the stage was set in 1000 A.D. for this moving story of characters seeking to sustain their Christian faith and fulfill God's plan for their lives.

Book excerpt: Among Christian devotional works, My Utmost for His Highest stands head and shoulders above the rest, with more than 13 million copies sold. But most readers have no idea that Oswald Chambers's most famous work was not published until ten years after his death. The remarkable person behind its compilation and publication was his wife, Biddy. And her story of living her utmost for God's highest is one without parallel. Bestselling novelist Michelle Ule brings Biddy's story to life as she traces her upbringing in Victorian England to her experiences in a WWI YMCA camp in Egypt. Readers will marvel at this young woman's strength as she returns to post-war Britain a destitute widow with a toddler in tow. Refusing personal payment, Biddy proceeds to publish not just My Utmost for His Highest, but also 29 other books with her husband's name on the covers. All the while she raises a child alone, provides hospitality to a never-ending stream of visitors and missionaries, and nearly loses everything in the London Blitz during WWII. The inspiring story of a devoted woman ahead of her times will quickly become a favorite of those who love true stories of overcoming incredible odds, making a life out of nothing, and serving God's kingdom.
Download or read book Beyond the Finite written by Roald Hoffmann and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2011-02-01 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout its long history, and not just as the key aesthetic category for the Romantic Movement, the sublime has created the necessary link between aesthetic and moral judgment, offering the prospect of transcending the limits of measurement, even imagination. The best of science makes genuine claims to the sublime. For in science, as in art, every day brings the entirely new, the extreme, and the unrepresentable. How does one depict negative mass, for example, or the folding of a protein that is contagious? Can one capture emergent phenomena as they emerge? Science is continually faced with describing that which is beyond. This book, through contributions from nine prominent scholars, tackles that challenge. The explorations within Beyond the Finite range from the images taken by the Hubble Telescope to David Bohm's quantum romanticism, from Kant and Burke to a "downward spiraling infinity" of the 21st century sublime, all lucid yet transcendent. Squarely positioned at the interface between science and art, this volume's chapters capture a remarkable variety of perspectives, with neuroscience, chemistry, astronomy, physics, film, painting and music discussed in relation to the sublime experience, topics surely to peak the interest of academics and students studying the sublime in various disciplines.

Download or read book Beyond the Mind written by Giuseppina Marsico and published by IAP. This book was released on 2018-04-01 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book Beyond the Mind: Cultural Dynamics of the Psyche is unusual in the content and it the format. That’s why it requires an unusual look. It has to do with a man, an intellectual journey and with uncountable travels across the world over the last two decades. This man is Jaan Valsiner and here you will read of his restless effort of elaborating ideas while going in different places as invited keynote. This book is mainly about his intellectual trajectory, which touches several places and several and interconnected topics. This book is about the “minutes” of his “bigger” and well organize works and also it is a collection of only apparently fragmented texts (mainly keynote lectures, unpublished or rejected papers) where the readers will see the “step- by-step” elaboration over the years of new ideas, theories, models and even schemas (which Jaan likes very much—maybe especially as he claims basic inability to draw anything).

If someone steals a relic from a museum and returns it to the ruin it came from, is she a thief? Written in his trademark lyrical style, Craig Childs's riveting new book is a ghost story -- an intense, impassioned investigation into the nature of the past and the things we leave behind. We visit lonesome desert canyons and fancy Fifth Avenue art galleries, journey throughout the Americas, Asia, the past and the present. Download or read book The Ultimate Three Minutes written by The Very Revd William Cummings and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ultimate Three Minutes is a statement of Christian theology in terms of "Salvation History", introducing the functions of Abraham, Moses, Second Isaiah and the Psalms; and placing in historical context the life, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ his uniqueness, the formation of the Gospels, and the Eucharist as the identifying thread which binds the redemptive or salvation process into a coherent whole and vivifies the Christian hope. This presentation of basic Christian Gospel theology is carried within a simplistic account of the history of the Ancient World, written in the style of a continuous narrative, with digressions into special topics such as the Psalms, Augustus and Providence, the Sixth Chapter of St John's Gospel, and the Northern Frontier. It also features a parable drawn from modern science. The title of the book borrows from two distinguished scientists. In The First Three Minutes Steven Weinberg describes the developments of the first three minutes of the universe, following the explosion of the "Big Bang" 13.8 billion years ago. In The Last Three Minutes Paul Davies describes the final subsidence of the universe into entropy and heat death. The Ultimate Three Minutes: The Story of Two Great Human Watersheds Their Preparation and Their Coinciding provides a humanitarian parallel. The title embodies a value judgement, namely the need of the human race for redemption, and the achievement of that redemption by Jesus Christ, the Anointed Saviour, on his Cross. The "Ultimate Three Minutes" is the final three minutes before Jesus Christ expelled his final breath, when the suffering and the cost of the redemption of mankind was at its most heavy and precarious.
