Book excerpt: The inspirational sequel to 12 RULES FOR LIFE, which has sold over 5 million copies around the world - now in paperback In 12 Rules for Life, acclaimed public thinker and clinical psychologist Jordan B. Peterson offered an antidote to the chaos in our lives: eternal truths applied to modern anxieties. His insights have helped millions of readers and resonated powerfully around the world. Now in this long-awaited sequel, Peterson goes further, showing that part of life's meaning comes from reaching out into the domain beyond what we know, and adapting to an ever-transforming world. While an excess of chaos threatens us with uncertainty, an excess of order leads to a lack of curiosity and creative vitality. Beyond Order therefore calls on us to balance the two fundamental principles of reality - order and chaos - and reveals the profound meaning that can be found on the path that divides them. In times of instability and suffering, Peterson reminds us that there are sources of strength on which we can all draw: insights borrowed from psychology, philosophy, and humanity's greatest myths and stories. Drawing on the hard-won truths of ancient wisdom, as well as deeply personal lessons from his own life and clinical practice, Peterson offers twelve new principles to guide readers towards a more courageous, truthful and meaningful life.

Download or read book Love and Freedom written by Jorge N. Ferrer and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-06-24 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Love and Freedom, Jorge Ferrer proposes a paradigm shift in how romantic relationships are conceptualized, a step forward in the evolution of modern relationships. In the same way that the transgender movement surmounted the gender binary, Ferrer defines how a parallel step can—and should—be taken with the relational style binary. This book offers the first systematic discussion of relationship modes beyond monogamy and polyamory, as well as introduces the notion of “relational freedom” as the capability to choose one’s relational style free from biological, psychological, and sociocultural conditionings. To achieve these goals, Ferrer first discusses a number of critical categories—specifically, monopride/polyphobia, and polypride/monophobia—that mediate the contemporary “mono–poly wars,” that is, the predicament of mutual competition among monogamists and polyamorists. The ideological nature of these “mono–poly wars” is demonstrated through a review of available empirical literature on the psychological health and relationship quality of monogamous and polyamorous individuals and couples. Then, after showing how monogamy and polyamory ultimately reinforce each other, Ferrer articulates three relational pathways to living in-between, through, and beyond the mono/poly binary: fluidity, hybridity, and transcendence. Moving beyond that binary opens a fuzzy, liminal, and multivocal relational space that Ferrer calls novogamy. In this groundbreaking book, readers will learn practical tools to not only transform jealousy, but also enhance their relational freedom while being aware of key issues of diversity and social justice. They will also learn novel criteria to evaluate the success of their intimate relationships, and be introduced to a transformed vision of romantic love beyond both monocentrism and emerging polynormativities.

Book Love is Beyond Sex and Physical Touch

Download or read book Love is Beyond Sex and Physical Touch written by Dr Smith and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-10 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I suggest my method for identifying and selecting a partner who can meet your spiritual and sexual needs. Love is the most important feeling in the relationship, it is a decision and it is also an action, you have to fight to start it and to maintain it. Many tell me that they want to have a partner to enjoy sex and that at the moment they are not interested in thinking about making that relationship eternal. This happens especially to the youngest, who want to browse, experiment and learn. Many of us bond as a couple when we are very young, when the biological instinct is very strong and with that relationship we aspire to live for the rest of our lives. When this union is based on physical attraction and love is sometimes lacking, the rest has to adjust to that. If the differences in the way of being and thinking of both are ignored. Will there be mutual understanding?

Book excerpt: Named a best book of the year by Entertainment Weekly, Time, and The Chicago Tribune, and named a notable book by The New York Times Book Review and The Washington Post “Remarkable . . . With this book [Wolitzer] has surpassed herself.”—The New York Times Book Review "A victory . . . The Interestings secures Wolitzer's place among the best novelists of her generation. . . . She's every bit as literary as Franzen or Eugenides. But the very human moments in her work hit you harder than the big ideas. This isn't women's fiction. It's everyone's."—Entertainment Weekly (A) From Meg Wolitzer, the New York Times–bestselling author of The Female Persuasion, a novel that has been called "genius" (The Chicago Tribune), “wonderful” (Vanity Fair), "ambitious" (San Francisco Chronicle), and a “page-turner” (Cosmopolitan). The summer that Nixon resigns, six teenagers at a summer camp for the arts become inseparable. Decades later the bond remains powerful, but so much else has changed. In The Interestings, Wolitzer follows these characters from the height of youth through middle age, as their talents, fortunes, and degrees of satisfaction diverge. The kind of creativity that is rewarded at age fifteen is not always enough to propel someone through life at age thirty; not everyone can sustain, in adulthood, what seemed so special in adolescence. Jules Jacobson, an aspiring comic actress, eventually resigns herself to a more practical occupation and lifestyle. Her friend Jonah, a gifted musician, stops playing the guitar and becomes an engineer. But Ethan and Ash, Jules’s now-married best friends, become shockingly successful—true to their initial artistic dreams, with the wealth and access that allow those dreams to keep expanding. The friendships endure and even prosper, but also underscore the differences in their fates, in what their talents have become and the shapes their lives have taken. Wide in scope, ambitious, and populated by complex characters who come together and apart in a changing New York City, The Interestings explores the meaning of talent; the nature of envy; the roles of class, art, money, and power; and how all of it can shift and tilt precipitously over the course of a friendship and a life.

Two decades ago, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus revolutionized the way we thought about love and partnership. John Gray's work has helped countless readers improve and even save their relationships. But as society evolves, relationships do, too. It's time to move beyond Mars and Venus, toward a new relationship model for modern couples. Today, men and women are no longer trapped by rigid societal roles. Now more than ever, we have the freedom to be our authentic selves. Women can access their masculine side, and men can embrace their feminine side. This new freedom is a good thing, but it also brings new challenges. Men and women still need the right tools and skills to help build stronger relation- ships. While previous generations sought "role mate" relationships, based on the more rigid gender roles of the time, today's couples need a new kind of relationship: a "soul mate" relationship. These more emotionally satisfying relationships require a deeper understanding of our partners' individual needs. In Beyond Mars and Venus, Gray teaches you how to strengthen your bond and grow in love together, so you and your loved one can meet each other's needs in the best way possible, bringing you lasting happiness and a fulfilling partnership.

Book Beyond Intimacy

Download or read book Beyond Intimacy written by Stephanie Akubue and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-03-03 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Just like the oxygen we breath to remain alive, we all need love in order to experience the thrill and beauty that life has to offer. No matter how we pretend not to need love, in time, we are always awakened by this reality. Little wonder some people travel far and wide in search of love, most times searching in the wrong places. Ironically, what they search afar is within their closet. Some have lost good people, while looking for ideals that are too far-fetched from reality. Other times, we are so consumed with superficial things, neglecting the real substance, only to experience regret, disappointment, depression and so many other negative emotions. There are so many good people out there, who are willing to love genuinely with all their heart. Unfortunately, these are ideal prey for the bad ones out there. In the end, they get used, drained, disappointed, hurt and dumped. What a cruel society! Like I always say, our society is filled with all sort of snakes, scorpions, sharks, tigers in form of human beings, especially in the wake of internet and social media. They seem nice, well-mannered, supportive, charismatic, disciplined, neat and always make a good impression about themselves. On the contrary, they are the worst kind of people to deal with because they are direct opposite of everything they seem to be. They have mastered the game of deceit, almost impossible to be unmasked until they have completed their mission, short or long term. Our society is so fake that you can only see what they want you to see. On the other hand, social media and the internet is not helping matters. It has become a tool for deception, enabling people to showcase a fake reality of themselves. Armed with their smart phones and other digital devices, they can influence other people's perception about them. You see people taking pictures in exotic places, expensive cars, showcasing a lifestyle that is so far from their present lifestyle.Love is beautiful, especially when you know you are with the right person. How do you know that he/she is the right person in the first place? What do you need to know before going into a relationship? Beyond sex or romance, what else are you bringing to the table? How can you keep that fire burning amidst all challenges, trials or tribulations that you may experience in a relationship? All these and more you will find in this book.

Book Tantric Sex and Menopause

Download or read book Tantric Sex and Menopause written by Diana Richardson and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2018-04-10 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A tantric guide to discovering the hidden gifts of menopause • Explains why Tantra works for menopausal women and how their bodies are naturally entering a more tantric phase focused on creative, spiritual energy • Details tantric practices and tools to connect with the body’s inner intuitive wisdom, remove the “performance pressure” of conventional sex, and set the stage for passion and pleasure to thrive both in the bedroom and beyond • Explores what to expect physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and in relationships As women, we live so closely to the body--through menstruation, pregnancy, birthing, motherhood, and then menopause. Each of these transitions changes a woman in a multitude of ways, most of which are celebrated. Yet menopause often causes women to feel despondent, as if our bodies are broken or deficient, especially when it comes to sex and intimacy. However, as tantric teachers Diana Richardson and Janet McGeever show, menopause has many hidden gifts to offer if we learn to embrace rather than suppress the changes this natural transition brings. Shining the light of tantric intelligence on menopause, the authors reveal how to explore and experience menopause in a radically positive fashion, suffused with a sense of vital awakening and “re-wilding” of a woman’s sexuality, creativity, and spirituality. Explaining what to expect physically, emotionally, and spiritually, as well as what it means for relationships, they detail tantric practices and tools to connect with the body’s inner intuitive wisdom and heart energies, remove the “performance pressure” of conventional sex, and set the stage for passion and pleasure to thrive both in the bedroom and beyond. They explain why Tantra works for menopausal women and how their bodies are naturally entering a more tantric phase focused on creative, spiritual energy. They explore how, in Tantra, sex is practiced not for the sake of sex itself but as an instrument for going “beyond” sex, for better health, improved relationships, enhanced self-control and emotional balance, and even higher states of consciousness. They also offer many self-help practices, exercises, and meditations to reinforce a positive attitude toward menopause and overcome many of the physical and sexual problems, such as pain, dryness, loss of interest, and loss of libido. Providing a guide for women who are approaching, experiencing, or have gone through menopause, the authors show how a more informed, tantric approach to menopause allows each woman to deepen her trust in the perfect functioning of the female body, embrace her natural sexual response, and reconnect with her inner self.

Book The Theatre of Love Sex Marriage and Beyond

Download or read book The Theatre of Love Sex Marriage and Beyond written by Gaglozoo H. A. Berdie and published by Partridge Africa. This book was released on 2016-04-25 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is through a deep reflection that I have been able to frame the title of this book, which is The Theatre of Love, Sex, Marriage and Beyond. In fact, the contents of this book take their roots from the title. This book is designed to cover as much as possible, a substantial number of the various aspects of the subjects I have discussed, as dealt with specifically by the innumerable authors at one time or the other. It is without the slightest doubt that not all or every aspect of the subjects of love, sex, and marriagewritten or propounded by authors, researchers, psychologists, sexologists, and medical scientistscan be found in one book. These different and innumerable ideas, theories, hypothesis, and research findings are as scattered in uncountable books, articles, newsprints, or papers and magazines. I will, in all honesty, admit that what I have attempted to do in this book is only a tip of the iceberg, considering the infinitude of the intellectual input and output of others in the myriad of data on the subject. I have divided this book into four parts: love, sex, marriage, and the beyond. These notwithstanding, I hope this humble rendition, however inadequate, would give readers a general overview of the essentials of these enigmatic subjects of love, sex, marriage, and the beyond.

  • Pages : 226 pages

Download or read book Ace written by Angela Chen and published by Beacon Press. This book was released on 2020-09-15 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An engaging exploration of what it means to be asexual in a world that’s obsessed with sexual attraction, and what the ace perspective can teach all of us about desire and identity. What exactly is sexual attraction and what is it like to go through life not experiencing it? What does asexuality reveal about gender roles, about romance and consent, and the pressures of society? This accessible examination of asexuality shows that the issues that aces face—confusion around sexual activity, the intersection of sexuality and identity, navigating different needs in relationships—are the same conflicts that nearly all of us will experience. Through a blend of reporting, cultural criticism, and memoir, Ace addresses the misconceptions around the “A” of LGBTQIA and invites everyone to rethink pleasure and intimacy. Journalist Angela Chen creates her path to understanding her own asexuality with the perspectives of a diverse group of asexual people. Vulnerable and honest, these stories include a woman who had blood tests done because she was convinced that “not wanting sex” was a sign of serious illness, and a man who grew up in a religious household and did everything “right,” only to realize after marriage that his experience of sexuality had never been the same as that of others. Disabled aces, aces of color, gender-nonconforming aces, and aces who both do and don’t want romantic relationships all share their experiences navigating a society in which a lack of sexual attraction is considered abnormal. Chen’s careful cultural analysis explores how societal norms limit understanding of sex and relationships and celebrates the breadth of sexuality and queerness.

  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book Relationship Beyond Sex written by Peter John and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-12-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is to open the eyes of teenagers, youths and singles about Love, Infatuation, Lust, Sex, Rape and Sexual Impurity. Relationship is the phenomenon expression that interprets the way different people are connected to one another beyond their original blood-line links. This therefore reminds us of the fact that no man is an Island, we belong to one form of relationship or the other. With particular reference to relationships that exist between a boy and a girl it grows from acquaintances, friendship, courtships and finally end up in marriage. Each stage of these relationships have their peculiar characteristic that sets them apart. But beyond such characteristics the moral standards required to be held by each party is of vital importance. In the Bible we have examples of both good and bad relationships. The relationship between Mary and Joseph ''The human parents of Jesus Christ'' is one that stood out as a good thing to emulate (Mathew 1:18-21). While the relationship between Tamar and Amnon is a lustful attraction that we should avoid (2 Samuel 13:1-22). John Peter popularly known as Sir-P., in this book seeks to help his readers come to terms with the difference between love, infatuation and lust and how it can have a devastating effect on the youths and teenagers when they cross the line. He took time to define key terminologies relating to sexual relationships and at some point, was very medical for better understanding. This book is recommended as a must read for every youth and teenager, because there are several lessons to learn ranging from: how to avoid premarital sex, what to stand to lose if I cross the line, what I can do to help other youths and teenagers and many more.
