Download or read book Shattered Galaxy written by D. Close and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2016-11-29 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The galaxy has been at war for a generation, locked in a conflict that has swept myriad star systems and claimed lives beyond counting. It has been nineteen years since a covert Human-Krellian research venture aimed at fighting a pan-galactic plague was brought to its knees by an act of terrorism so profound that the Krellian moon was destroyed and Krell itself was forever shifted in its orbit. A ruined but powerful race, the Krellians swore revenge on the Maristilian Alliance of Planetary Systems, whose leaders, it was said, had engineered the attack on their homeworld. The massacre of Samuel Zentasen (Chairman of the MAPS Chancellor) and his entire family aboard their personal shuttle, the Eagle, thirteen years ago was but a drop in a vast sea of atrocities. And though the facts of the notorious "Bloody Eagle" were much reported, one fact remained hidden; the youngest Zentasen was not killed, but rescued. Now a grown young man, Wesley Zentasen finds himself drawn into the heart of the great conflict with a dark and terrible secret in his blood that could change everything.

Book excerpt: My name is Erak Domolin, and I live on an earth colony planet, named New Terra in the Milky Way Galaxy. I was born into a family of witches. I have an Uncle John who runs a space cargo business. He has an Indian as a copilot, his name is Blind Owl. He is American Lakota Indian. John’s ship is three hundred feet long and one hundred feet wide, with the control wings near the back. They curve down and out so as to look like wings. It has feathers painted on the wings, so it looks like a hawk. I stay with Blind Owl's family, sometimes, and as such, I learned a great deal about the Indian religion, and their way of looking at life and the world. We rescued a girl known as a Fay, from pirates. The Fay can do magic, to some degree, read minds, as well as talk to animals. They can make space ships go at incredible speeds. Kayla taught me a lot about life on the runs with Uncle John in outer space. Pirates are a constant trouble in space, and we are not exempt in that regards.

Book excerpt: Protecting your home is best accomplished from your enemy’s front yard. Five years after the malicious attack by the unknown dark ships, Tora has achieved an unparalleled military buildup. The Torians are now the alpha male of the Erobian Sphere and have taken to making regular patrols in whatever regions they see fit—but especially along the outer rim where the High General has come to “sense” covert enemy activity. When a fresh piece of happenstance intelligence only further fans those flames of suspicion, he convinces his old Earthling friend Brandon Foss to undertake a special mission. The plan has its risks, but it may be the only way to flush the enemy out into an open confrontation away from Torian space. Unbeknownst to Brandon or the Torian military, three younger-generation Earthlings and their unique pet have also ventured out across the sphere—where they unwittingly tread on a hidden enemy base. Jumper, Alan, and Kayla’s goofily-botched vacation plans land them at a critical point in the enemy’s farthest advancement. Finding themselves alone, disparaged, and far from home, the three friends have no way of realizing that the manner in which they now cope with their rocky circumstances may well affect the course of the entire war. And oh yeah. There’s: • Intense space battles • Intriguing aliens with unusual attributes and abilities • New technology advancements and, um, enlightening spiritual revelations • Climbing, running, ducking, shooting, hovering, crouching, pouncing • Trial by fire for eco-political ideals • And of course, an evil flute that sounds like a drum

The trouble in which he finds himself. The magic that heconjures and the spectacular things he believes. When he was a younger man, Alistair McPhee was fond of escaping in his ’56 Chevy Bel Air, Lucy, named for the cherished wife who died and left him and their nine-year-old son Colin behind. Yearning for a way to connect to his itinerant father, Colin turned to writing screenplays inspired by the classic films they used to watch together, while Colin’s own son, Finn, grew up listening to his grandfather spin tales of danger, heartbreak, and redemption on the road. Now, at the end of his life and wishing to feel the wind in his hair one last time, Alistair charges his grandson with a task: bring Lucy to him in San Francisco from New York, where a man named Yip has been keeping her safe. The long road west will lead Finn, accompanied by his disgruntled friend Randal and an ancient three-legged orange cat named Mrs. Dalloway, through the very cities that supposedly bore witness to Alistair’s greatest adventures, offering an unlikely lesson in the differences between facts and truth, between boys and men. Driver’s Education is at once a literary adventure and a finely detailed family portrait, combining in a bold declaration of Grant Ginder’s outstanding storytelling gifts.
