Book Andrews Bible Commentary

Download or read book Andrews Bible Commentary written by Ángel Manuel Rodríguez and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Andrews Bible Commentary is a concise exposition of Scripture written by faithful scholars of the Seventh-day Adventist Church as a companion to the Andrews Study Bible for lay readers, pastors, students, and teachers living in expectation of the Advent Hope. Each book has an introduction. The commentary text is approached from a passage-by-passage basis, rather than a verse-by-verse basis. This allows for more engagement with the extended thought of the passage. Other occasional features include general articles, short word studies and explanations set off from the regular text, and short essays on important topics related to the passage at hand. A personal relationship with Jesus transforms the way we read Scripture. We come to the Bible to inform and focus the worship of Jesus as Savior and Lord. And, in a special way, we come to the Bible to nourish hope in His Second Coming. We are not disappointed, for the theme of the great Day of the Lord and of Christ's Return permeates the entire biblical record. It is the purpose of the Andrews Bible Commentary to trace "the Blessed Hope" (Titus 2:13) in the pages of Scripture and to read all of the Bible in the light of that hope. This time between the First and Second Advents of Jesus is a challenging one. We need instruction and inspiration as we wait. What does the Bible have to say to believers who, with both longing and joy, anticipate the Return of Jesus? Answering that question is at the heart of the Andrews Bible Commentary, which seeks to instruct and inspire all who long for Christ's Second Coming"--

Download or read book Divorce and Remarriage written by Tom Roberts and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2018-03-22 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the birth of Christianity and with the Christian churches’ separation from Judaism, a tragic misunderstanding of marriage and divorce has occurred. Not only have we lost the understanding of biblical marriage counsel and wisdom, we have also lost the process of marriage and its biblical allowances for separation of man and wife under certain conditions. Christianity often fails to understand the biblical practice of marriage, as well as divorce and remarriage. Our Lord employed rabbinic teaching to uplift the status of women in his temple discourses with Jewish sects, such as the Sadducees and many groups of Pharisees. Unless we understand the Semitic discussion within those groups and properly translate Our Lord’s response to these questions, his teaching is held in tension with that of the epistles of Paul. Jesus and Paul are dealing with different case studies together with different communities of faiths, which affects how we should interpret the general message contained in the text. These misinterpretations of this vital information have needlessly ruined the lives of many innocent victims. It is long overdue for the Christian Church to reevaluate her response to this growing problem. There is a blessing for those who will receive this teaching.

Book Malachi s Use of Joel s Day of the Lord

Download or read book Malachi s Use of Joel s Day of the Lord written by Petronio M. Genebago and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-07-07 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Day of the Lord texts of Malachi (Mal 3:2, 7; 4:5) demonstrate that he seems to allude to Joel's Day of the Lord (2:11, 13, 31 [MT 3:4]). Malachi's Day of the Lord seems to have a strong inner-biblical relationship with the Day of the Lord motif of Joel. A significant interpretive loss is committed when allusion is recognized in the source text but ignored and not explored. Thus, the passages themselves call for an inner-biblical allusion study. In addition, the interpretive significance of Joel's Day of the Lord in Malachi has not been investigated comprehensively as the review of literature and intertextual and inner-biblical studies on Malachi validated. Thus, these are the interrelated questions: (a) "What are the criteria to verify the inner-biblical connection between Malachi and Joel on the Day of the Lord?" (b) "How did Malachi use Joel's Day of the Lord motif?" (c) "How did Malachi develop the Day of the Lord theme in his book?" There are three purposes of this study. The first is to identify objective criteria to verify the inner-biblical connection between Malachi and Joel on the Day of the Lord. The second is to determine how Malachi used Joel's Day of the Lord motif. The last is to ascertain how Malachi developed the Day of the Lord theme in his book.

Book Israel Covenant Law

Download or read book Israel Covenant Law written by Kim Papaioannou and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pauline studies are in a conundrum. The Reformation perspectives championed by great men like Martin Luther and John Calvin have been challenged recently by the rise of the new perspective on Paul. The main point of contention seems to be the place of biblical law in salvation. While the Reformation perspectives, based in part on Paul’s apparent attacks on law, assert that salvation is a free gift unmerited by human works, the new perspective suggests the law is an integral part of the work of salvation. It holds that Paul’s attacks on the law were focused only on specific aspects of law, the so-called boundary markers. This book, while having points of contact with both outlooks, takes a different view on Paul and the law. Building on Paul’s self-identification as a Christian, and Christian views on the covenant, it endeavors to give biblical law its due place in the plan of salvation and the life of the believer.

Book The Body of Christ

    Book Details:
  • Author : Reinder Bruinsma
  • Publisher : Review and Herald Pub Assoc
  • Release : 2009
  • ISBN : 082802488X
  • Pages : 226 pages

Download or read book The Body of Christ written by Reinder Bruinsma and published by Review and Herald Pub Assoc. This book was released on 2009 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a clear, straightforward definition such as this, the subject of the church isn't one that most people would consider a "doctrine." For this reason, there aren't many books that deal with this crucial fundamental belief. This very readable and informative treatment of such a vital topic fills an important gap in Adventist literature. Reinder Bruinsma's far-ranging look at the doctrine of the church moves from Old and New Testament foundations for this doctrine up through church government and on to controversial issues such as ordination and church discipline. Fittingly, he concludes with the mission and future of the church. His fourfold approach-biblical and theological, historical, practical, and with an Adventist perspective-ensures that every facet of the doctrine is explored in detail. This thought-provoking discussion challenges those who call themselves "God's people" to examine their current understanding of the church and to prayerfully consider their roles as part of the body of Christ.
