Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life during South Africa’s apartheid times had been idyllic for the white residents of a small village in the picturesque Nede Valley. Ken Chandler witnessed this when he moved there from England. However, he thought things would need to change following the abolition of apartheid and he saw that the nature and governance in the nearest towns and smaller townships had changed rapidly to suit the needs of the Zulu and Indian residents, but nothing had changed within the Nede valley. How they were to maintain a “whites only” village was a major concern for its residents, but how were they to achieve this? Would it be amicably achieved or would they need to resort to violence? Eventually, change was brought about in the village, but not in a way that anyone would have envisaged.

Book War Dogs

Download or read book War Dogs written by Shane Bryant and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2009-04-01 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Afghanistan, sometimes all that stands between coalition troops and death or serious injury is a dog. Highly trained dogs and their handlers search for improvised explosive devices or hidden weapons out on patrol with combat troops. It's a perilous job, often putting them right in the firing line, and making them high priority targets for the Taliban insurgents they're fighting. Shane Bryant, a former Australian Army dog handler, has spent the past four years in Afghanistan working with elite American special forces alongside his faithful dog. War Dogs is his story; a riveting account of the hidden war in the mountains and cities of the world's most dangerous conflict, and the comradeship between man and dog that has saved numerous lives.

Book REAL ESTATE

Download or read book REAL ESTATE written by Prabhu TL and published by NestFame Creations Pvt Ltd.. This book was released on with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Property, land, buildings, air rights above the land, and subsurface rights below the land are all examples of real estate. Real, or tangible, property is referred to by this phrase. Real estate also refers to the production, purchase, and sale of property as a business word. It has an impact on the US economy because it is a key generator of economic growth. Owners of real estate were formerly denied voting privileges under the United States Constitution. Real Estate Definition and Examples Real estate, often known as "real property," is formally defined as land plus any other physical improvement that may be built on or placed on it. The enhancement could be a new structure or a new road. A septic system, for example, is an example of anything that has been placed into the ground. It is said that land with any of these constructions has been "improved." When it doesn't have them, it's considered "enhanced." Your home, as well as any vacant land you may own, is real estate. A skyscraper in New York City or an area of undeveloped desert land that can't be built on are both examples of real estate. What Makes Real Estate Work? Because real estate does not just exist, it has several sides. It has the ability to progress from unimproved to better. It is available for purchase or sale. It could be owned by the government, a corporation, or a private individual. However, certain elements can have a direct impact on the economy, such as consistent land improvement and the individuals and companies that allow ownership transfers. Building of New Structures The construction of new homes is a crucial category. Construction of single-family homes, townhouses, and condominiums are all included. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) publishes data on home sales and prices on a monthly basis. New house sales statistics are a leading economic indicator. For new properties sold, it takes four months to establish a pattern. The NAHB also keeps track of new home starts, or the number of new home construction projects that have broken ground. Agents of Real Estate Individuals, businesses, and investors use real estate brokers to buy and sell homes. Typically, the industry is separated into specialisations. Through the Multiple Listing Service or their professional contacts, sellers or listing agents assist in the search for purchasers. They price your home using "comparables," or "comps," which are listings of recently sold properties that are similar to yours. They may assist you in sprucing up your home so that it appeals to potential purchasers. They aid in discussions with the buyer or the buyer's agent in order to obtain the best price. For the home buyer, buyer's agents provide similar services. They are familiar with the local market and can locate a property that satisfies your most stringent requirements. They also "do comps," which is the practise of comparing costs. This enables them to direct you to places that are cost-effective. Buyers' agents represent you in negotiations, bringing up reasons why the seller should accept a lower offer. They can assist you with the legal aspects of the transaction, such as title searches, inspections, and financing. REALTORS are real estate agents that desire to improve their professionalism.

Book The Big Short Inside the Doomsday Machine

Download or read book The Big Short Inside the Doomsday Machine written by Michael Lewis and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2011-02-01 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The #1 New York Times bestseller: "It is the work of our greatest financial journalist, at the top of his game. And it's essential reading."—Graydon Carter, Vanity Fair The real story of the crash began in bizarre feeder markets where the sun doesn't shine and the SEC doesn't dare, or bother, to tread: the bond and real estate derivative markets where geeks invent impenetrable securities to profit from the misery of lower- and middle-class Americans who can't pay their debts. The smart people who understood what was or might be happening were paralyzed by hope and fear; in any case, they weren't talking. Michael Lewis creates a fresh, character-driven narrative brimming with indignation and dark humor, a fitting sequel to his #1 bestseller Liar's Poker. Out of a handful of unlikely-really unlikely-heroes, Lewis fashions a story as compelling and unusual as any of his earlier bestsellers, proving yet again that he is the finest and funniest chronicler of our time.

Moving to England, she made the transition to pop sensation when she worked with producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman. When the hits dried up in the 1990s, Kylie was faced with her first major challenge. She had to reinvent herself for a new generation of fans. Stepping out of the shadow of her producers, she bravely forged her own path as an independent performer. But though everyone was still talking about her, she had to face the fact that she wasn't at the top any more. And so she reinvented herself again in the early 2000s as a disco diva - and this time, her career, which appeared to be in gentle but terminal decline, was turned around dramatically. Songs such as "Spinning Around" and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" were pop classics and provided reason enough for the public that had always held her in huge affection to fall in love all over again. Kylie-mania spread all over the world and her reputation was sealed - she was an international superstar. After her traumatic battle with breast cancer, the Aussie diva came back stronger and sexier than ever, putting on a breath-taking comeback with her ever-elaborate Showgirl tour. Now, still a firm favourite with the public, Kylie Minogue can do no wrong. And twenty years on from the release of her first single "Loco-Motion", with over 40 million records sold and her tenth studio album released, she is showing no signs of slowing down. The Queen of Pop is definitely here to stay - this is her story.
