Download or read book Miracle Bedtime Stories written by Sharron Eve Dee and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2018-03-06 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Initially this writer had the opportunity to share my personal Miracle Bedtime Stories with an 8-year-old child who would regularly ask, “Sharron, would you tell me a bedtime story?” I thought for a while and replied "Emily, I’m not good at fairytales but I can tell you stories that are true Miracle Stories. Would you like that?" To my surprise Emily loved the Miracle Bedtime Stories! At one point I wondered, what will I do if I run out of Miracle stories? Much to my amazement, I realized that we live in a world where miracles are happening all around us. All we need to do is open our minds and hearts to receive and to be aware of the world of miracles in which we live. As I shared these stories with the young and old, I was inspired to begin documenting my miracle stories trusting that they would bring hope to a hurting world.

Download or read book Spies written by Michael Frayn and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2003-01-18 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the bestselling author of Headlong, a mesmerizing novel about secrecy, imagination, and a child's game turned deadly earnest The sudden trace of a disturbing, forgotten aroma compels Stephen Wheatley to return to the site of a dimly remembered but troubling childhood summer in wartime London. As he pieces together his scattered images, we are brought back to a quiet, suburan street where two boys, Keith and his sidekick-Stephen-are engaged in their own version of the war effort: spying on the neighbors, recording their movements, ferreting out their secrets. But when Keith utters six shocking words, the boys' game of espionage takes a sinister and unintended turn. A wife's simple errands and a family's ordinary rituals-once the focus of childish speculation-become the tragic elements of adult catastrophe. In gripping prose, charged with emotional intensity, Spies reaches into the moral confusion of youth to reveal a reality filled with deceptions and betrayals, where the bonds of friendship, marriage, and family are unravelled by cowardice and erotic desire. Master illusionist Michael Frayn powerfully demonstrates, yet again, that what appears to be happening in front of our eyes often turns out to be something we can't see at all.

She can't control everything, though. At school Cassie's two "best" friends are turning nasty, and a cute boy is sending mixed signals. And then there's Mr. Mullaney -- the weirdest, hardest English teacher in the seventh grade -- who hates everything she does. Since Mr. Mullaney isn't even reading her brilliant work, Cassie starts submitting journal entries like "A Virtual Tour of My Insanely Messy Desk." But her sassy humor isn't winning her any friends or helping her ailing grades. What's a girl to do when life gets totally insane? Barbara Dee has created a witty, poignant portrait of an intense, honest, feisty girl who is ferociously funny and only too human.
