Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The teachings of Jesus have the profound ability to be abundantly clear, and yet leave us with equally abundant questions. In Mark's account, we are told to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as our self. Beautiful Interference uses storytelling to bring clarity to what God is calling us as his disciples to do as we live a life aiming to look like Jesus Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A bold new approach to performance by one of the top coaches in the country. In trying to improve-on the playing field, in the office, or even at home-most people seek out new information to get to the next level. They read a book, attend a class, or hire an expert to give them an edge. But Alan Fine, an accomplished tennis, golf, and executive coach and a renowned authority on peak performance, believes that this "outside-in" method is precisely what's holding you back from doing your best work. He's found the biggest obstacle to improved performance isn't not knowing what to do; it's not doing what you already know. Ironically, the quest for information and instructions designed to help you get ahead can often interfere with your ability to focus on doing something. Fine reveals his simple and proven approach to achieving breakthrough performance. It starts with reducing the interference that blocks your potential through an amazing process called G.R.O.W. (Goal, Reality, Options, Way Forward). No matter who you are or what you do, You Already Know How to Be Great will help you eliminate what is standing in the way of your goals.
Download or read book Interference written by Brad Parks and published by Thomas & Mercer. This book was released on 2020-09 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From international bestselling author Brad Parks comes an emotional, heart-pounding thriller that explores the scientific unknown--and one woman's efforts to save her husband from its consequences. Quantum physicist Matt Bronik is suffering from strange, violent seizures that medical science seems powerless to explain--much to the consternation of his wife, Brigid. Matt doesn't think these fits could be related to his research, which he has always described as benign and esoteric. That, it turns out, is not quite true: Matt has been prodding the mysteries of the quantum universe, with terrible repercussions for his health. And perhaps even for humanity as a whole. Then, in the midst of another seizure, Matt disappears. When foul play is feared, there is no shortage of suspects. Matt's research had gained the attention of Chinese competitors, an unscrupulous billionaire, and the Department of Defense, among others. With Matt's life in clear danger, Brigid sets out to find him. Will Matt be killed before she reaches him, or could the physics that endangered him actually be used to save his life?

Download or read book How Big is Big and How Small is Small written by Timothy Paul Smith and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2013-10-24 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about how big is the universe and how small are quarks, and what are the sizes of dozens of things between these two extremes. It describes the sizes of atoms and planets, quarks and galaxies, cells and sequoias. It is a romp through forty-five orders of magnitude from the smallest sub-nuclear particles we have measured, to the edge of the observed universe. It also looks at time, from the epic age of the cosmos to the fleeting lifetimes of ethereal particles. It is a narrative that trips its way from stellar magnitudes to the clocks on GPS satellites, from the nearly logarithmic scales of a piano keyboard through a system of numbers invented by Archimedes and on to the measurement of the size of an atom. Why do some things happen at certain scales? Why are cells a hundred thousandths of a meter across? Why are stars never smaller than about 100 million meters in diameter? Why are trees limited to about 120 meters in height? Why are planets spherical, but asteroids not? Often the size of an object is determined by something simple but quite unexpected. The size of a cell and a star depend in part on the ratio of surface area to volume. The divide between the size of a spherical planet and an irregular asteroid is the balance point between the gravitational forces and the chemical forces in nature. Most importantly, with a very few basic principles, it all makes sense. The world really is a most reasonable place.
