Book excerpt: Just a brief description of what you're going to find in Bar Protocol. The information in this handbook is for those who may manage, work, or patron any bar or restaurant. This is not some miracle solution to making a bar or restaurant successful, but it may help in giving some informed ideas to the problems that may occur in the food and beverage industries. Bar Protocol will have some unique information and helpful hints that may help many individuals that have chosen to work in the food and beverage industry. Unfortunately, Bar Protocol will not be giving any information on the COVID-19 and the different forms of practices or standards that will be involved within the Food and Beverage Industry. Those individuals in Upper Management will be following the unique standards that the illustrious CDC and FDA will be handing down from our government. Try to follow these standards as best as you can, for those standards will probably change two weeks later. Be careful, be safe, and try to think of all the different ways to be thoughtful and enjoy yourself. It will all work out. Thank you.

Download or read book Children s Fractional Knowledge written by Leslie P. Steffe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-12-02 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Children’s Fractional Knowledge elegantly tracks the construction of knowledge, both by children learning new methods of reasoning and by the researchers studying their methods. The book challenges the widely held belief that children’s whole number knowledge is a distraction from their learning of fractions by positing that their fractional learning involves reorganizing—not simply using or building upon—their whole number knowledge. This hypothesis is explained in detail using examples of actual grade-schoolers approaching problems in fractions including the schemes they construct to relate parts to a whole, to produce a fraction as a multiple of a unit part, to transform a fraction into a commensurate fraction, or to combine two fractions multiplicatively or additively. These case studies provide a singular journey into children’s mathematics experience, which often varies greatly from that of adults. Moreover, the authors’ descriptive terms reflect children’s quantitative operations, as opposed to adult mathematical phrases rooted in concepts that do not reflect—and which in the classroom may even suppress—youngsters’ learning experiences. Highlights of the coverage: Toward a formulation of a mathematics of living instead of being Operations that produce numerical counting schemes Case studies: children’s part-whole, partitive, iterative, and other fraction schemes Using the generalized number sequence to produce fraction schemes Redefining school mathematics This fresh perspective is of immediate importance to researchers in mathematics education. With the up-close lens onto mathematical development found in Children’s Fractional Knowledge, readers can work toward creating more effective methods for improving young learners’ quantitative reasoning skills.

Download or read book Building a Cell from its Component Parts written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2015-05-20 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cell interior is another world that we are only beginning to explore. Although there are a number of approaches for examining the inner workings of the cell, the reductionist approach of building up complexity appeals to many with physical science and engineering backgrounds. This volume of Methods in Cell Biology spans a range of spatial scales from single protein molecules to vesicle and cell sized structures capable of complex behaviors. Contributions include; methods for combining different motors and cytoskeletal components in defined ways to produce more complex behaviors; methods to combine cytoskeletal assemblies with fabricated devices such as chambers or pillar arrays; reconstituting membrane fission and fusion; reconstituting important biological processes that normally take place on membrane surfaces; and methods for encapsulating protein machines within vesicles or droplets. - Covers sections on model systems and functional studies, imaging-based approaches and emerging studies - Chapters are written by experts in the field - Cutting-edge material
Download or read book Cell Cycle Checkpoint Control Protocols written by Howard B. Lieberman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-02-02 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of cell cycle regulation is based on the observation that the life cycle of a cell progresses through several distinct phases, G1, M, S, and G2, occurring in a well-defined temporal order. Details of the mechanisms involved are rapidly emerging and appear extraordinarily complex. Furthermore, not only is the order of the phases important, but in normal eukaryotic cells one phase will not begin unless the prior phase is completed successfully. Che- point control mechanisms are essentially surveillance systems that monitor the events in each phase, and assure that the cell does not progress prematurely to the next phase. If conditions are such that the cell is not ready to progress—for example, because of incomplete DNA replication in S or DNA damage that may interfere with chromosome segregation in M—a transient delay in cell cycle progression will occur. Once the inducing event is properly handled— for example, DNA replication is no longer blocked or damaged DNA is repaired—cell cycle progression continues. Checkpoint controls have recently been the focus of intense study by investigators interested in mechanisms that regulate the cell cycle. Furthermore, the relationship between checkpoint c- trol and carcinogenesis has additionally enhanced interest in these cell cycle regulatory pathways. It is clear that cancer cells often lack these checkpoints and exhibit genomic instability as a result. Moreover, several tumor suppressor genes participate in checkpoint control, and alterations in these genes are as- ciated with genomic instability as well as the development of cancer.
